In addition to early access to Made 2 Homeschool launching this week, I’m also hosting a workshop on there all about summer homeschooling on Monday, May 8. Sign up for the waitlist to join here: www.made2homeschool.com/a/2147529243/x3ofUa2f
Start with Little House in the Big woods. I started with Little House on the Prairie and then my 9 year old took off reading them herself. After 2 more books she realized Big Woods came first and now she wants to reread the whole series so she can go in order from start to finish. 😅
Start with Little House in the Big Woods. That is before they move to the prairie 👍🏼 it’s so good! We are on book 5 and love the series! Audio version is very good too 😊
My kids really enjoy listening to audiobooks while following along in the actual book. Just a fun idea I thought I’d share, for the days you might not feel like reading!
We started with Farmer Boy, then Little House in the Big Woods. I'm glad we did it that way because Farmer Boy was all about Alonzo's family. That book made my girl so grateful for how life is now. We used the Playful Pioneers curriculum and had so much fun with all the activities. We do the same. It's too hot, so we stay inside and school during the worst of it. I was cleaning off my RUclips subscriptions the other day and ran across your old channell and I was like OHHHH...now I know why you seemed like an old friend when I found you on this channel!! LOL I want Hoopla but the weatherford Public Library doesnt offer it. I need to go get a library card somewhere else. LOL
Great video. So inspiring. Start with little house in the big woods. It’s the first in the series. We listened to all 9 books from hoopla with Cherry Jones as the narrator. It was wonderful. My girls loved it and were sad when we finished. Their are sub series also. The Rose years… and 4 others I believe. Enjoy!
We love the little house series! I had never read them either! We are listening to the audio books and I just saw the other day there is a whole unit study you can get to go along with the books so I'm wanting to start over 😂
I would start with Little House in the Big Woods, however you may want to read aloud Little House on the Prairie as well before they read the rest on their own. Little House on the Prairie had some outdated language and ideas regarding Native Americans that you could discuss with your younger ones while reading. It shows their mindset at the time but isn’t exactly a good example to follow.
@@TheHomeschoolConvert you’re welcome! I think the Ma Ingalls character in particular has many fears and prejudices that could make for good discussion. The series is a great series and I still love it!
Love the little house books. Just a heads up in “Farmer Boy” (book 2) there is a part described where a student beat the previous teacher to dea** and the kids are afraid it will happen again. I skipped over that part but just wanted to give you a heads up!
Weird comment I know, but my maiden name is Burgess and the "g" is actually soft like /j/, not like goose. I thought it was funny when you picked it up and I was like... What did she say? lol....... Now, comment on AO. We loved it and did it for 5 years. I would seriously recommend it.
Haha! Too funny! I’ve heard people pronounce it both ways and maybe have even said it both ways myself because I wasn’t sure which was correct. 😆 Thanks for the feedback. 😉 Glad to hear you’ve had such a positive experience with AO!
We actually had a carpenter custom build it for our space as a built-in. He was working on something else in our kitchen, and his price was cheaper than buying it pre-fab. We just had to paint it.

I’m looking forward to your workshop! I joined the community this week and am really enjoying it and finding it helpful!

Yes, we looooove audiobooks in this house!!

Hahaha! Yeah, I've hopped on and off RUclips for several years now. Too funny! Arlington gives access to 12 hoopla books a month, FYI.

Thank you! We love a good audiobook, so I'll definitely have to remember that!
Love your philosophy on year round schooling. I love being able to make education and learning a life style for my children
Yes, we definitely embrace a lifestyle of learning! 💕
I LOVED little house on the prairie growing up. I can’t even guess how many times I reread it. I’m excited for you to experience it with your girls!
I'm so looking forward to it!

There are so many options out there for Little House!
We did the 100 dresses as a read aloud to discuss the issue of bullying. It was a good story
Shortly after Kennedy started it we switched gears and decided to do it this way! She's reading Bears on Hemlock Mountain now instead.
We will be doing Heidi and my father's dragon either this summer or next school year. I've read both and they're cute.
We also live in Texas and school year round. We travel in the fall and spring.
It’s so nice to make our own schedules as homeschoolers!

Thanks for sharing that! I definitely try to have discussions about language as necessary when we read older books.

Oh hey, I'm from Carlsbad and still here lol
The nice thing is it can be 100 outside but the cave is always nice and cool
I went a couple times in my childhood and am looking forward to returning!

Thanks for the heads up! I remember reading about that in a Facebook group I'm in, as well.

My daughter tears through books too and I have to remind her about doing other things sometimes. 😂 It’s a good problem. ❤️
If I can't find Rowan, she's probably snuck off to read somewhere, haha.
@@TheHomeschoolConvert She must get that from her book loving Mama😂🤔
Is Ashley from grace and grit going to be part of it?
She is not currently part of the contributor team.
Where did you get that book shelf from??! Ty
