Hello thanks for video, but i have one question. Why did you glued side panel parts with cross direction grains? You are not afraid of cracking side panels by humidity changes? I saw that glue is pop up only near sides is that the point? And you was not glued only central part because of afraid a gap on sides? Best regards Fedor
I’ve made several of these and it is t an issue. The side is only 10” wide, so the amount that properly dried hardwoods will move in that distance is very minimal.
Thank you! For this one I think the soundtrack is just whatever was free and loaded in iMovie. I started to branch out more for music in some of the more recent videos.
stephen lanham I don’t know that I’m up for the voice over yet. I’d probably also have to invest in some better equipment. I’ve been making these on my phone.
Lid is only 10” wide, kiln dried lumber. I’ve been making these for 10 years, probably 25 or more and never had any issues. If it was much wider, I’d float the top panel, or if the lumber had a higher moisture content (well if it did, I’d wait for it to come down before using).
@@catspawcustoms Thanks for the fast reply. I live in the the Northeast (New Jersey). It gets very humid around here and I have to be careful with solid wood. BTW, the magnets in the front panel is really clever. I'm going to steal that idea from you.
When I did this video I didn’t have one, and even now the one I’ve got is a bench top. I don’t quite have enough room for a long bed, and if I really need to joint something long I can do it with a #7.
dang, wish I had something like that to hold my medals, and memorabilia. that is really cool.
Thank you!
I wish I had medals....just to hold.
Great video but also great music! Who is the artist?
Honestly no idea at this point, this video was from a few years ago. It was definitely something included in iMovie though.

Nice work - and good music, too! I feel like The Cure is scoring your woodworking. :-)

You sir, are the shit. My only criticism is that you should narrate so I can keep watching the craftsmanship whilst you work rather than reading

Matthew Painter thank you!
Lid top is just glued in place? Not worried that it will split?

How do I order one? I retire in July 2021 and would love to store some of my memorabilia in one of these.
You can email me at catspawcustoms@gmail.com, but I don’t know that I could be done by July with the other stuff I have going on.
Can I ask where you get all the hardware for this box? Ie knobs, pin lock, etc?
Gerstnerusa.com, in the replacement hardware page
@@catspawcustoms thank you
