Before that it was just a bog land with few inhabitants. And Gall means foreign or stranger, not english. The name Gallagher comes from Gall and cobhair (help) put together translates as foreign assistance. Which is what we were, We helped you get off yer arse and find the spuds that you were too lazy to dig up, cos it was raining.
