Great video. We were just there (Sept 2022). The place was overrun by yellow jackets and flies, both at the camping sites and the beach. There is a fly trap and a yellow jacket trap hanging in the trees in each camping site, but obviously doesn't touch the over all population. I pulled a hot dog out to roast it and it wasn't 5 seconds before I had a yellow jacket or two in my face trying to get to it. Pretty lake. Much smaller due to drought. If it were more full, and free of bugs, I would come back. Also, forgot my sleeping bag and was woke up by shivering about every 30-45 minutes throughout the night, despite wearing pants outdoorsman pants with fleece inside, and a long sleeve hoodie and beanie hat. It's COLD up there at night! So I got up at 7:30 am to start a fire while my family slept in until 9:00 am. That day it got hot though, so not bad during the day. Also, bring your own TP! There wasn't any on the Friday/Saturday we went.

Welcome to my turf! It's not every year you can get up there in November. I've seen 6' of snow by Thanksgiving. The lake is surrounded by aspens and the fall foliage is amazing!

Doug - It was so beautiful! And quite peaceful since we were the only ones there. :) I'm glad it wasn't snowy at the time!

@@idk-just-elle there were chains required when I went through there yesterday. That's just one of thousands of little gems one can find in the Lassen national forest. Keep up the adventuring!

The big crater lake is known as a haunted place. Author David Paulides notes mysterious paranormal disappearances there. Is there such instances here in Lassen?

We didn't hear of anything like that, but who knows. :)

So it would be nice if you could have mentioned the name of the lake? Not sure why you could not do that, you should know you were within 20 miles of the second biggist lake in california called eagle lake, thank you for the vid, i happen to own alot of land in the area and saw your vid, most the trees out here are juniper and tons of sagebrush peace--- edit, my bad you did say crater lake but i thought you meant a lake from.a crater ect and you wanted to go to crater lake oregon, well nice to know about this hidden gem

It was great to have the whole place to us! I wouldn't have flown the drone if anyone else was in the campground.

Abbie got to get her feet wet. Hooray!! Loved the views that you took with the drone. At first the water had a green and blue look to it but with the view from the drone I could see how green it was. We saw a lake in the Yukon that was emerald green and we were told some mineral in the water made it that color. Wonder if this is the reason this crater lake was green. Glad the weather was good this time for you to show us a crater lake.

I guess that could be part of the reason for the coloring. There are so many beautiful places in our country to find. Glad we got to see this one.

Hey! Thanks for asking. We actually bought a place in Oregon. We had some big life events come up and have been off the road for a while. Hoping to return to traveling in an RV soon.
