    I’ll be adding more lapidary videos to the mix, but it’s going to take a few videos to figure out what filming format works best to give you folks good content. Thanks for watching while I learn and figure out how to do all this fancy filming behind the scenes. 🙂

    Are there any general area rock hounding maps for the Black Hills to try to find these?

    • @waywardwoodward
      @waywardwoodward  3 месяца назад +2

      @@eyeguyeyeguy1 they sure are neat! I don’t know of any maps or anything of the sort. This location is a private claim or I would share it. The book I mention in this video has a huge section though all about garnets in the hills and it lists some general locations/areas, but a person would have to scout them out and lots of them are now on private land and/or part of private mining claims. I’m sure there are a few places a person could find with a little work! It’s actually on my list, to explore a bit more and try to find more locations for them. Best luck out there if ya go in search! 🕵🏻‍♂️ Thanks for tuning in!

    Not perfect but still beautiful. I prefer the more natural look. Dont get me wrong, we all want that one flawless specimen, but rhe character and imperfections make it feel more authentic, and looks like it has a long history.
    That yellow colour could be iron oxalate as it reacts with iron in the schist. Rhat might be an indicator for having the Fe variety of garnet, nut maybe not. At best it could only prove theres iron in the schist.

    i've heard not to do this in your garage/shed, as the fumes would eat on metal anywhere around, including nails and screws in the roofing, etc......just what i've always heard from the quartz crystal guys, and ive personally only used it on quartz, in old crock pots, set outside for a couple days.......

First off, you totally missed the entire point which I mentioned three times in the video, being that it was all purely for fun. Second, thank you, I put a post up on the ole Facebook to find out what people prefer and looks like you’re the ignorant one! (even though we all knew that) 🤣 Anyways, guess what! Everyone wants to buy them polished so I’ll do a bunch more now! Almost like I knew that! My buddy sells literal buckets of unworked ones next to me at rock shows and does ok, but I can get out of four or five polished ones what he gets for a whole bucket. Guess I’ll have to go grab a bucket or two. Lemme know how your garden turns out, there fella!
