The KS version will definitely run cooler and consume less at the same frequency compard to the K version cause they are binned, so they achieve higher frequencies at better voltage
Soo so interesting the way you analise it from different perspectives/ settings TY!
What do you use for your overclockint settings?
did you configure your radiator fan and pump speed?
What is the overlay that shows you power draw that you are using? Maybe somebody else knows?
Thanks
Is that 6Ghz All-core tho? Do you have E-cores disabled for either of those?
What i looking for is a CPU and MB that i can host VMware on.. i have an old full server in my home and want to move to hosting my VMware on on a desktop (have 6 VMs (storage server, media server and backup data (veeam) server). Would the i9 13900k or 13900KS be able to do the job?
Can you show your bios settings with this config 5:16 of the KS version?
Thanks for the video man, it really helped. One question: what you use to make the tweeks so fast without entering BIOS?
He uses Intel XTU utility I presume
To help mitigate potential stability/degradation widely reported on flagship Raptor lake SKUs, I have changed a lot of my BIOS settings based on what I have watched and read. For my 13900k and 14900k I have done the following: MCE off, PL1 and PL2 limit to 225, limit P-core boost to 5.5 GHz and E-core boost to 4.3GHz, and use balanced power profile in Windows (although I do disable core parking to keep system highly responsive). Oh and just XMP on the RAM. I didn’t change LLC value. I have set voltage offset at a modest -0.015v and set the Core limit to 300 Amps. I have disabled the C6&C7 C states and EIST. Lastly I have locked AVX at 0 offset. I have tested on P95, CB R23 and CB R15. All great and in a mid 20 degree room, no workload exceeds 80c on package or cores. Very happy and benchmarks are very close to where they were before taming these beasts.
What cpu cooler are you using ...is it a aio😊
What FPS do you get on WZ?
I think your mobo is overshooting voltage. Is your wattage limit at 250? Also your cooling might not be making proper contact. Those temps and wattage while gaming seem crazy high.
Can you do a tutorial about how to lower the clock and the voltage :). Your videos are amazing.
i Got an i9 13th gen HX (13900HX laptop) and it seems to yield like a KS one (performance and undervolting tweaking possibilities) than a traditional K
Pulling 34K (air cooled 36K watercooled, and yes it is) in CB2023 and 1874 in CB2024 (MT multithreaded), plus DDR5 tweaked to 6600 mhz (5600 stock) with like 95W (avg) with 24 Cores & 32 threads : - 150 mv Pcore - 150 mv Ecore - 75 mv UNCORE / CACHE - 25 mv SA AGENT -> 5.2 GHZ avg / 5.4 max
What is ur cooling???
I was thinking of getting this. What were you cooking this with in the video? I’d have an EK elite 360mm AIO. Was curious about what temps I may see.
dont get the older aio, get the new CR360. It performs great, keeps up with my custom loop during all my comparison tests.
@@UporaFilms I’m not certain the new CR360 will cool any better. The only one I’ll consider is the vision EK that displays the CPU temp. That nucleus eye ball thing they have going on is it my style considering my whole image here is Noctua inspired build without the air cooler.
You should try a contact frame to see how that goes.
Hi. Do you think best 27mm rad 240 aio wirh phanteks p30 best 12mm 300mm thick fan at maxed out 3000rpm can cool it down at full 6ghz if i undervolt? I would put in the dan a4 h20 and next to the smallest 3 fan 4090 after the fe thst is 322mm and maxed out for the case. What do you think?
Really wish more folks uploaded to RUclips in HDR. This video made my M1 Pro MacBook Pro Display POP!!! 😱
Hello, I was wondering if you could answer a quick question for me. I managed to get my hands on a 13900KS. Prior to purchasing the KS I bought an ROG Strix Z790-E Gaming WiFi motherboard. However, now I'm wondering if my KS would be better served by a higher-tier motherboard such as the Hero. I'm curious if the extra capabilities of a higher-tier board (such as higher overclocking headroom, etc.) would benefit the 13900KS essentially "unlocking" more of its potential. So should I return the Strix or is it more than good enough for a KS?
I am curious what decision you made as I am looking at certain things also.
Can you give me lists of specs on your PC? Including the mama board sir thanx.
Thanks for the video, 13900KS arrives today, will be getting Artic Freezer II 280.
Can the Arctic Freezer 2 handle your CPU?
@@I3o0M Hi, I ended up getting the new Kraken 73, it is a 360, will also put on the Thermalrite CPU bracket, build will start in two weeks.
Running my 13900ks at stock speeds with a -0.100 adaptive offset voltage on my MSI z690 carbon along with the Artic Liquid Freezer II 420mm aio and a Thermaright contact frame. While running Cinebench R23 to test I see the CPU VCore at around 1.178 to 1.182 and a max package temp of 72c. The max p-core temps are between 63c to 72c depending on the core. It usually scores between 40,400 to 40,500 in r23.
While gaming it stay super cool and i never even hear the fans on my aio ramp up. I love my 13900ks.
What motherboard do you use?
@@maliek1k MSI z690 Carbon.
Sorry this has been an old comment but since I'm getting a 13900ks as well might as well ask you, so I should undervolt my cpu by -0.100?Will it increase my thermal while having minimal performance loss?
@@mohdfazril5824 No worries at all. The comment may be old but the information is still relevant. I can't say exactly what offset voltage your particular CPU will handle. I just start off small at something like -0.025 and work my way up (or down technically I guess since it's negative offset lol) until I get a sof crash. Then after I see a soft crash I'll add 0.010 back in then test for stability. I recently posted a new video on my channel showing the settings I'm using to run my new 14900ks at a -0.170 undervolt and gained 2000 points in cinebench over the out of the box setting all while being like 30 degrees cooler and using around 160w less power. People seem to love to complain about these KS CPUs but they are great in my opinion. It's just the Motherboard auto setting that is really bad causing people problems.
@@dracer35 Thanks a lot for that really helps a lot. I've no experience with undervolting so every little bits of information helps.
Will be watching your videos on the 14900ks that is really dope, gaining gains while getting so much temperature reduced. Aaanddd that power saved wow 160w is a lot!
Definitely getting the KS thanks to this video.
I have a question, is resizeable bar something you would still recommend doing?
Yes
in some games it helps and in other does not anything but if you have Intel Arc graphics then it´s necessary to enable it but in general AMD/NVIDIA cards is only few % difference it may be worse and also better but in some cases it seems to be a margin of error so you just don´t need that for gaming if you are creator or using graphic card for computing etc then it may worth it but what i recommend...try it you can´t broke anything just try it and see how it performs🤷♂
Holy sh..! You're buying an extra 700.- USD KS CPU for some 200MHz Headroom on 2 Cores.
Than you downclock this CPU being happy about some less watts but also having less FPS than the standard CPU?
I don't get how someone can expose himself this way, that's not convincing!
Will the NZXT Z63 with noctua IPPC fans (3000 rpm) and Kryonaut Extreme handle the i9-13900KS?
Bro if you get to worried just underclock it
The problem is usually the power settings and overvolt added by the motherboard bios defaults.
Right. If you actually tune your voltage. You can get good clocks and still voltage to lower voltage. They throw way too much voltage out of the box.
What the FPS increased from 5.6 to 6ghz. I am upgrading from 5950x 3090 to 13900Ks 4090 with custom water loop cooling. I’m still waiting on my system to arrive
To clarify, what settings are you changing? Do you have an app that you can tell to target a specific frequency?
I assume you are just setting the PCore ratio but didn't know how you were doing that in game.
@@robertauten4754 Probably Intel XTU
I ran the 13900KS on a AIO Corsair h150i for 4 weeks before realising a custom loop is needed. Stock with ambient temps of 22c, my idle coolamt temps was 32c, cpu package 44c. Gaming hit 64-75c and Cinebench hit 100c instantly with 38k score. Custom loop with 2 360 rads and idle is 27c, gaming 42-48c and only a couple cores hit 100c with a 39k score. I can leave fans at 0rpm whilst gaming and coolant temps never go above 33c when gaming and cpu sits around 49c. Super quiet 😊
Interesting. I've had the EKWB Direct Die CPU block sitting in my closet for over a month now. Contemplating if I want to get a custom loop going just for it or get a better GPU + GPU block and do both. Undecided but I'm sure my 13900KS would love that direct die block.
@ItsLoganBTW highly recommended it, just for the satisfaction everytime you glance inside your case. If thermals are a concern, and they should be on any 13900KS with an AIO, just offset voltage 0.095 and it should bring temps down to 90c, same performance less heat and power and cinebench will increase around 1k.
I run Intel power limits (253W) and my NH-D15 in the 3 fan config is fine.
Wattage is better on the ks but the k had higher fps??
Tally, so do you have all P Cores with E Cores still active?, or are you disabling E Cores and just locking the PCores at that frequency with -100mv?
Can you present the strongest processor and not immediately video game performance, what else can that processor do and how much faster is the PC compared to weaker Intel processors?
I have the 12900ks and I am thinking of upgrading to 13900ks. I was running 2 sticks 32gb @6400mhz c32 but then added 2 more to have 64GB for my 3D softwares without having to sell and buy 2 x 32GB. I manage to have it run at 6000mhz but recently turned it down to 5800mhz because I had some games crashing... I know 4 sticks DDR5 is hard to run but do you think the memory controller of the 13900ks could handle it at 6400?
4 sticks of ddr5 ram isn't stable( especially at overclocked frequencies) in the current gen Intel as well as amd CPUs. Better get 2 sticks of 32gb ram for stability
What is the name of the cooling u used
What if you manually overclock/undervolt both and see how much diffrence the binning really makes
exacly!
Do you think the 1000 g5 EVGA gold certified would be good enough for i9 13900ks ?
Yes, just take it easy on gpu overclocking
Unlocked and superboosted processors usually get very very hot.
Maybe my temps are not that bad.
When i run my 13900ks at 5.7ghz p-cores and 4.5ghz e-cores in stresstest 2 cores reach 98 and 99c.
Or should my temps be lower?
That cpu is dead 💀 bro u need to get around 70 while gaming
@@Saridfn when gaming i hit 63-67c°
nice comparison man but you're getting like 35 fps lower on the KS !
My 13900KS performs great. Using Asus Ryujin II 360 AIO cooler with the Noctua fans. MSFS runs great on it, even with AI traffic. I can only compare to the 12900K that I was using for the past year or so. I'm loving the performance increase and just to see a few cores make it to 6GHZ is awesome for me with NO overclocking just set the XMP. I'm quite happy with my choice of CPU💖
Let me have your 12900k
no thermal throttling even 100% usage in bench? if yes i will buy that AIO along with 13900KS
Do you think the NZXT Kraken Elite 360 would cool the 13900KS? (with upgraded SP120 fans)
@@prefescent4460kraken x63 handles 13900k perfectly well. I have paired this beast with z690-a gaming wifi d4 and 3080 ti. This cpu literally sleeps on games and 5 virtual machines launched in one time. Temps in games are below 70. And it has anti bend frame (Thermalright). So yes, kraken 360 should handle ks with no problem.
What temps are you getting while gaming?
You were getting +20 frames at 5.6Ghz. Why would you run at 6Ghz and lose those frames? That makes no sense, and it runs way hotter.
I use a big 360 mm AIO on a 13900KF ( the same as the K, without integrated graphics). It gets hot as hell… throttles at around 100.
Undervolted it a little, underclocked the P-cores by 100 mhz, upped the efficient cores by 200mhz. Now it’s running stable, less electricity… and still wonderful gaming with my 3090
wow this game hammers any cpu out there

ye the “KS” uses less Watts at 5.6 sure, but also look at the fps compared to 5.6Ghz on “K” and “KS”.. the “K” is around 220-240fps average and “KS” is 170-200 ^ I would much prefer the “K” version over “KS” cause i need those extra fps
Thx men!!
All silicon is not the same from CPU to CPU, even on the KS. The next guy probably won't be able to do what yours did.
CPU 100c...in games. Intel overclocked it too high, too small surface area for heat dissipation and too high clocks and power consumption. 320W vs 253W on the 13900K.
Does 2% in performance worth $200 more compare to the K or KF?
No. Even the 13900 k is over kill. Out of the box for gamers.
@@baldeagle1171 I only asked cause I do video editing and some games. I have i7-5820K CPU @ 3.30GHz, a 10yrs old cpu that still play all modern games in 4k. FPS might not be all there, but it's very well playable with half fps. Video editing is more for me tho.
@@NoNegotiations I think the scores are within a few thousand posts of exch other. You'll be happy with either choice imo
would it be fine to air cool it at 5.6ghz?
I’m wondering the same thing ,any luck finding out ?
@@2.0thondamodz75 Not exactly, but I've heard of people air cooling the 13900k in eco mode and they say they're fine. You still need the best air cooler you can buy.
-0.100mv is crazy. Running 7200mhz ram my 13900KS will sometimes rarely watchdog bsod during y-cruncher 2.5b with just -0.05mv. I guess your ram is much less stressful on the CPU and thus can OC it further.
You need 2 DIMM motherboard to run 8000MHz DDR5.
!!why Ks run avg 30fps less than K version ?!?!🙃🤔
Difference drivers and windows build. I will test now side by side but the wattage holds up
You need to remember to update your CPU drivers! ;)
i see your point sorry but its bullshit let me tell you why the temperature on KS 6ghz was 80/90c the temperature on K 5.6ghz was 70/80c so you have room about 10c to overclock the K. so why you are declock the KS when you have room to overclockclock the K? and when you start declock the KS the fps start droping... so the temperature on K 5.8/9ghz will be almost the same like KS 6ghz and the price difference is 130 euro in europe. you feel me?
Also, is your PC VR ready?
Im quiet confused..I never went AMD and tempted to go 7800X3D but hoping I wont get into troubles with AMD.
you wont, trust me. they do great in cpus, i recommend an nvidia gpu and amd cpu. you can also do intel CPU like i5 13600k and AMD gpu like RX 7900 XT.
It gets same fps as the i9 and r9 while uses 100w less power and is coolee
not trying to hate but for the amount of money you pay for the extra 200mhz is realistically hot ass the only reason i see the amount being worth it is if you are extreme over clocking with nitrogen or something of that nature for just normal gaming and productivity there’s no reason to justify a 100+$ increase everyone has different opinions and money available but i can’t comprehend how that would be worth it even with a lot of money i still think it’s considered financially irresponsible at the end of the day
or for a tech fan
wow, so maybe run it at 5.4 or 5.5 with the undervolt AND prob get it under 100w?!? 🤯
90 W mine 5.2
It will be better if KS was better if it was on tsmc 5nm, will consume half the juice to deliver same fps.
TSMC's 5nm is not 50% smaller than Intel's 10nm. You can't compare them 1:1. There is no standard on what kind of component you measure for these values. Each company has their own system. That means Intel's 10nm process is slightly better than TSMC's 7nm. Not quite on par with the 5nm one but there is no 50% jump as you indicated. Intel's next jump would be 7nm but they will probably use TSMC's standard instead and call it 5nm. However, no component on TSMC's processor is actually 5nm in size so it's quite misleading. Intel's system is much more accurate and less clickbaity.
@@DariusOutdoors On a rough guide of area wise, its not exactly same way how its work, 10x10=100, while 5x5=25, its roughly 1/4 th the size, so that they can pack more transistors and cache . matured node of same die technology of intel 10nm is called advanced 10nm not real 7nm or intel7. but nm is not a direct die size comparison, since intel is making monolithic while amd gone chiplet. alder and raptor lake chips are much more larger than amd.
@@DariusOutdoors Exactly, TSMC's "5 nm" is barely better than Intel's 10, maybe 10-15% or so.
It’s also better for heating up your room
holy hell 200 watts in CoD is way too much, CoD isn't a very CPU heavy game especially on shipment. voltage is definitely set too high. i have a 13900KS at 6ghz and rarely see CPU power draw pass 140 watts. Its usually around 120w
I mean ye I don't get the criticism at all. In the past people got scalped by pre-binned CPUs, now OC enthusiasts can get the pre-binned CPUs for 130€ more directly from intel. It's only for certain people, pretty stupid to criticise the product by "high power consumption, only small improvement"
I have to work to get my 13900k to get stressed

Your 13900K was getting better average FPS at the same wattage. This is just proof that raw clockspeed doesn't really matter when there are multiple factors at play.
I thought my 13900k was a dud. My 13900k runs 5.5 at 110W and around 130W at 5.6 so not too far off from ur KS
Power usage depends on game and if your gpu bound or not

Its just a cherry picked 13900K.
If you hit 80c in a simple game, CR23 will burn your cpu :D
It is better only in tdp. 13700K is better choice for most peopel
Yep. This is exactly why it's always worth waiting for KS parts. Lower power consumption = quieter fan operation. And the KS will pay itself off compared to K in electricity bills in 1 year.
You must be gaming like 12h each and every day and live in EU where electricity is the most expensive in the world ATM to even start thinking about getting that much saving to cover the difference between K and KS.
But in few years of normal use if the prices of electricity would not fall (and they will) and if you live in EU you have a chance for your underclocked and UVed KS to pay for itself :)

Bro. I'm glad you like the 13900ks, but from everything I've seen from reviews the 13900ks is only slightly better than the 13900k. You might get a few cores to hit 6Ghz but not all cores plus the means to cool the damn thing are outrageous... like it takes a 360mm AIO and even then you still see thermal throttling and temperatures of 100c 🥵. If I were you I'd go for a 7950x or the 7950x3D when it comes out. I hate to say it, but I think you wasted your money.
One more thing to mention you can easily get most of the performance of the 13900ks if you overclock the 13900k well have a good one bro all the best 👍.
Delid + direct die is mandatory on the 13900ks if you want to get anywhere with it. Definitely not a chip any normie should buy
he wasted his money on the ks. the 13900k has it uses, but i wouldnt buy one
Thermal throttling in CinebenchR23 maybe but not in gaming. What temps do a 7950x running CinebenchR23 get up to and what is the score?
He didn't waste money bruh, he has both of them 😂 and never accusing anyone of "wasting" their money, if you like it you buy it. Then it ain't wasted.

You know what’s even more mind blowing? AMD 😂😂. You might actually blow a load.. if you’re this enthusiastic about saving 10-20w mostly and sometimes 50-60w. Go plug in a 7950x3d…. For apples to apples. Or get totally blown by using a 7800x3d or last gen x3d. Literally uses 50% less power at stock.
