hey guys,
this week's video is a bit different from my usual vlogs (as i said, i'm taking a mini-break to recharge) so i'm bringing you a look inside my montreal apartment 🏡 i moved here a year ago and i thought why not making a video talking about it.
my apartment is a small 408 sq ft studio located in the old port/downtown and it's $1252 per month (water, electricity and heating included) ⚡️ at the time, it looked like a great option and i made the decision in a rush because it was so close to my job. however, i'll be giving you all the insights on that situation and how it turned out for me 🤔
in a way, this video is also a farewell to this space since i'm moving out in january and i selfishly wanted to capture it before i leave 🥺 overall, it's been good and very comfy (especially coming from a small shared flat in london which was more expensive) 🥲
in this video i'll be talking in depth about what i was looking for, my apartment "hunt", the building and it's facilities and my unit 🏙 i also give you some (valuable) advice regarding furnishing and pricing as well as some of the lessons i've taken from this experience 🌬
i hope you enjoy the video 🤍 thank you for the support.
jean.

I really hope that your account gets big soon. Your delivery and editing are chef's kiss. Simple, concise, aesthetic and pleasing to watch. Keep it up!
omg, that means a lot 🥺 thank you so much! so glad you enjoyed it 🤍
$1,200 in boston gives you a roommate haha
omg, probably less bc 1,200k CAD is around 900 USD 💀
Found your channel from this vid! Love your vibe, aesthetic, and editing!! Hoping for more vlogs/slice of life vids from you!
thank you so much! 🥺 editing takes me a big chunk of time and it means a lot 🫶🏻 i have some new content coming soon 🤍
Very clean and aesthetic! Love 💕
thank you 🥺🖤
Love your studio Layout it seems spacious and I love the simplicity
thanks! 🤍
This was pretty interesting! I live in Montreal too and always wondered what the more modern apartments were like, it makes me appreciate my place more
definitely! after living in an old apartment in london, i got lured in by the convenience of a new construction (especially with the canadian weather) ❄️ but i just can’t deal with how unpersonal and “cold” it feels…
Thanks for sharing ! What a nice apartment you have there. Certainly lovely for one :)
thanks! 🤍 it’s been very nice and comfy 🥲 and yes, the space it’s perfect (and enough) for one person 🛌
Thanks for the details. Just to let you know, you have inspired me to imitate your look in my condo for spring. Your touch for design is great and your bit of soul, will now be left for the next renter since they bought your furniture and that is wonderful, you should be proud of what you created with the look of your condo. Good Luck!
thank you so much! i'm glad i could help 💞 i hope everything comes along well in your condo, i'm sure it's going to look great 🛋️💐
Excellent narrative! Keep up the great work! Montreal summers are the best
thanks 🤍
I just stumbled upon this video and I really enjoyed it. saying hi from Florida!
thank you so much 🤍 wish i could visit florida 😭🌅
I'm Brazilian.. gonna move to Montreal next feb. Loved your video! I'm OBSESSED with you
omg thank you 🤍🥺 wishing you all the luck!! just hold on because the weather is going to kick your ass until april 😭
The lighting is "bad for your self Esteem." 🤣🤣🤣🤣..
Oh my goodness!!
Has anyone ever told you that you can EASILY pass for Celine Dion's Son??
i meannn 😂 it does look dramatic when i do my skincare 💀 i’ll get some beauty lights next time…
also, it’s the first time i get that 😂 but i’m not mad since celine is a legend.
@@JeanEst circa her earlier years, coming into the industry.. right down to the accent.
😓I'm relieved l didn't offend you
Love the studio definitely my style. Buying furniture isn’t an issue I live in America and furnished apartments are not something I personally am accustomed to. The convenience of living so close to work is great. I will agree the lighting in the bathroom is not great but all in all I think it is fabulous especially since it came with a washer and dryer.
tysm for sharing!!! montreal studio is a bit more affordable than torontos for $1700+ 😅😅
omg, i knoww 😭 i had a look and toronto prices are so crazy it reminds me of london, where getting a place like this for that amount of money is just… impossible 🥲
Thank you for making this vid, i am looking for a place to live by myself with almost the same budget too and you=r place is sooo pretttyyy
thank you! 🤍🥺 it was hard. if you’re on a budget i say aim for clean/simple stuff and slowly add more personality later on. it also makes it easier to sell, as the core items are more “universally appealing”.
Montreal’s rent is affordable;NYC would be $5K n up
i don’t know where i’d live if i was there tbh 💀
It's funny because I'm from nyc and I've always wanted to move to Montreal ever since I celebrated my 18th birthday there like 10 years ago lol. I'm learning French just for that. Nyc is too much. It sucks because there's so many poor immigrants here who want a better life yet it's so expensive. Maybe that's why lots of modern day immigrants are looking into other states nowadays. Anyways, Love ya Canada ✌
Very cute and good use of space.
thank you 🤍
Just came across your video and I must say I loved everything about it. Love your accent and love the fact that you are also living your 20s in a foreign country.
I am from Zambia🇿🇲 but live in South Africa 🇿🇦 and hoping to move to Canada permanently.
Will definitely subscribe and support your channel. Much love ❤ and all I wish you is success.
omg 😭 you’re so sweet tasha, thank you so much for your comment 🤍 it means a lot! (& i’m glad you like my accent, i’m sick of it myself 😂)
ngl, sometimes it’s very hard to move around this much (and far) when you’re in your 20s... it’s like uprooting yourself over an over 🥲 however, deep down i feel like this is the ideal time to do it; to try new things, explore the world and see what works and doesn’t work for you.
i wish you all the luck, happiness and success in the future 🇿🇲➡️🇿🇦🔜🇨🇦!
hope you enjoy your time in canada!
Thank you for the tour, I love the simplicity of your home, it looks lovely. I wish you all the best for your upcoming move and look forward to your new vlogs in 2023. Merry Christmas!
thanks joanne 🤍 not gonna lie, the simplicity is not as intentional as it looks 😂 it's mainly the result of my space/budget limitations. also, i hope to be back with more vlogs soon ☺
wishing you the best for this new year ✨ merry xmas!
Looks pretty cool. I live in Melbourne Australia and trust me rent is not cheap. You got off reasonably well in buying the bed and sofa for the price you paid. My bed alone Queen Size was $2500. I won't go into the rest of the costs setting up. However, I'm sure you get the gist of it. Congratulations on finding a place ( home ) close to work etc, and it looks nicely furnished.
Kind regards Rikki
hi Rikki! thanks for your comment 🤍 it’s so cool you’re from australia, i wish i could visit although i’ve heard it’s pretty expensive over there 😭
and yes, i got lucky with the furniture. i basically went with the simplest and cheapest stuff i could buy online (a lot of amazon items with prime delivery) 📦
however, i ended up spending way more than i originally expected, so i’ve learnt my lesson… furnishing is an investment 😅
ps: i hope that $2.5k bed is amazing.
Thanks for the great video. Are you able to recommend a place (Furnished) near Montreal Airport ?
Great video 🙏
Loved your condo space, your touches perfect, your vlog was great. If you do not mind me asking, what store did you buy your coffee table and desk from. Your furniture fit perfectly, you have great taste. The best to you in your future endeavors.
thanks! 🖤 glad you enjoyed it. the white coffee and side tables are the basic/cheap ones from ikea and the desk was from amazon (zinus modern studio collection soho desk). hope that helped! 🫶🏻
Well done!
I don’t plan on moving to Montreal at all but this was v cute video 10/10
thank you 🥺🤍
Really nice!
thanks 💞
New to you and your channel, where have you moved from? I am toggling with the idea of moving to Canada so was looking at a couple of videos and yours popped up now, so just wondering.
The HRH collection excerpt IM DEAD, immediate follow!!
i swear i can find a clip of her for everything 🥴
Your apartment is beautiful
thanks 🤍
Wanna a tour of your new place too 💕
Hello ! I’m looking for the same type of apartment in Montreal for the same price and it’s soo hard
You are super! Thank you so much... _ From Montreal, Quebec
thank you! 🤍🥺
Did you find a new home with more soul? The Plateau neighbourhood has some charming older apartments - the classic Montreal plexes with exterior staircases - and is a short commute to downtown. Best wishes.
Nice video!! I'm wondering what is the platform you used for finding nice apartments like this one 👀
hi! i'm glad you enjoyed it 🤍 i found the apartment on Kijiji, but many people also use fb marketplace. hope that helps!
Love the video. Subscribed. Do you have any reqs on where (sites, listings, resources) to find a reasonable furnished apartment for 1-2 months? I am thinking about working remotely from Montreal from July to Aug.
hi! sure 🤍 for that purpose, i’d recommend looking on facebook marketplace but you could also check kijiji 📦 sorry for the late reply, lmk how it goes
❤❤ thanks for the video.. any bedbug/cockroach issues in the bldg? ❤❤ subscribed❤❤
CUTE! Get yourself a bed skirt...
thanks 🤍 that's a good idea!
‘1.2k might seem like a lot of money’ HA have you seen nyc?!
Cool 😎 apartment. I hope the place that you're moving to is more to your liking 👍🏾.
thanks 🖤 fingers crossed the next apartment hunting goes well 🤞🏻
@@JeanEst You're welcome 😊. Good luck 👍🏾!
Can I ask what is the name of this place?
“domo” 😊
Can you please help me to find studio apartment in Montreal downtown??? My husband & me will come to Montreal at first January 2024.
You need help?
@@AdjaTech-sm7jh thank you. I have already booked my apartment.
So cheap oh my goodness. And it’s beautiful. Triple that for London 😢
thanks 🤍 ikr 😭 if only i could find something similar there.
🤩❤💕💞
🥺🖤
1,200. bruh that's my mortgage here in the suburb montreal
i know 😭 it was so expensive
@@JeanEst hey. what matters is you're comfortable and feel safe where you live :))
C,est fini le Montreal bon marche !
How did you manage living the first days without furniture??? Thats one of my biggest concerns tbh 🥲😔😭😭🤣
same 😂 i was lucky enough i got the keys sooner and was able to buy the bed before moving in from the temporary rental 🥴
