Roborock S6 Review - Ridiculously Smart, Meticulously Clean
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 18 ноя 2024
- Roborock's third-generation robot vacuum, the Roborock S6, is another excellent follow-up to its original big-name value robot vacuum, the Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum.
Two corrections to note: The vacuum runs 50% quieter than the Roborock S50 in balanced mode.
When the S6 is running on less than 20% of battery, it will head back to the charging dock and will recharge up to 80% full, before heading back to where it has left off again
The Roborock S6 now works with the new Roborock app and includes a new set of brains behind the vacuum and a brand new motor as well. It's 50% quieter yet still can offer the same 2000pa maximum suction as the Roborock S5 could, and it's even got some new brushes to create the most efficient clean we've ever seen.

How does the multi floor function work? Do you have to carry the base charger to every level?
Will it work without wifi?
Running this vacuum once a day for few days will significantly reduce amount of pet hair in your house🌼 I love that I can have multiple maps for each floor. Don't expect the vacuum to be "smart" out of the box. The first run will always take longer because it's trying to map out the floor. Once the map is completed, it will be way more efficient at cleaning. You might have to guide/drive the vacuum into some areas if it's not mapped the first time.
That's cool and all, but does it curse when it hits a wall?
Oh my goodness thank you for a much needed laugh!!! Imagine if it 😂
@@pianogirl9676 a youtuber called Michael Reeves made a Roomba which swears when it hits a wall
This product is 100% worth the investment🌼 It’s mapping feature allows you to select specific rooms or areas you want clean and mark off areas that you don’t want cleaned.
Really like the Vacuum, but it should tell you that the water level is low or out while mopping.
I was about to buy s5 and im so happy this better version came out, but now i will have to look at it again towards other new ones
Got the s6
I hope they bring the scheduling rooms or zones feature to the S50.
Head into the app settings and see if you're eligible for the map saving beta.
@@androidheadlines Yes, Ive had it for awhile now but that only saves the map. It doesnt let me name rooms to schedule cleanings.
Looks like some features are exclusive to the S6 for the time being. We've seen Roborock update their vacuums with new features in the past, so hopefully this makes the cut down the road.
Scheduled zone cleaning several times a day must be amazing. Currently I am looking at competitors, because roborock doesn't finish their software.
Love the 2000pa maximum suction that's quieter!
Any idea on when it will be available in shops in Europe? Amazon?
You can already pre-order in Germany for about 550 €.
@@Twistedpaolumu TL:DR S6 too expensive atm compared to S5..... From an S5 owner. Id say the S5 works fine. When S6 gets a lower price ill sell S5 and replace with S6. Its however imo too expensive atm for no apparent better features. This machine is meant to be run when you are away from home so volume isnt an issue. Still this is by far the best improvement over S5 but will be unused for the most part. S6 lists 14 sensors. S5 lists 13 sensors. Unsure what this is about. Unsure if the map on the S6 app will be moved over to S5 also. If S6 lists no better features through more sensors, then why shouldnt S5 be able to get the update. Selling point perhaps? If so its a weak one.
Can't believe that a robot which is able to recognize carpets (carpet boost mode) doesn't have an hard floor-only mopping mode.
It does seem odd, but the detection isn't instant which means at least part of the carpet would get damp if it were to use that sensor. Here's hoping they figure out how to do it soon. In the meantime, separating rooms that are carpeted is a somewhat decent workaround, although obviously not going to be thorough.
@@androidheadlines I have the S5 and a good workaround is to put a virtual barriers on the map where the carpets are. It works like a charm, you just need to remember you need to removed them when you want to vacuum the whole apartment. It would be nice to have customized maps for each cleaning timer. So I can set a moping mode with customized map with barriers.
The problem is not the detection itself but the mopping attachment which always contacts the floor as it isn't adjustable.
@@LightBringer81 why should it be a problem? Just avoid the carpeted parts altogether...
@@androidheadlines a solution to this is very simple: just allow the user to to draw no-go carpet selections. Comparing to standard ones they need to be taken into account only while mopping.
nice, but you forgot to mention that they redesigned the main brush. now its easyer to remove the hairs from both ends
Mansenmania omg I just spent 20 straight minutes trying to get the hair from my three girls and my wife out of that damn brush from the s50 ......couldn’t get all of them....gave up
No Name use a wire cutter. Works good for me
Just cancelled my S5 from Amazon as the official Roborock facebook site say they only support products for a year or until a new model comes out
Will now have to start looking for one all over again
Borehamwood Thieves and Thugs I’ve never had a positive experience with warranty claims. If it breaks you’re better off fixing it yourself. The good thing about roborock is they have a pretty strong user community and it’s not difficult to buy parts for. If warranty is important you may also want to see what complimentary warranties your credit card provides.
Nice Machine. Thanks for the review. For the mopping I would use Kraftglanz, non chemical cleaning solution. Makes your floor clean and your devices won't get damaged.
Which of these robots is more powerful? And which one cleans better, Which one would you recommend from these two models? Deebot Ozmo 950 or Roborock S6 ???
Will the silicone side brush fit the s50?
It should as the chasis looks 99% the same.
I would bet my bank account on it.
I already bought a 5 sided brush on eBay 2 months back. Way before this was released. It's not thin like this though. And it's not all silicon. Just some Chinese aftermarket guy made it for roborock. It does workz but the extra legs means more tension, and while running on bed.. which I regularly do it after cleaning the roborock, the side brush sometimes stops spinning due to extra tension. This newer version will definitely for and work amazing
At what distance were those 35 decibels measured?
Disappointed that they didn't make the dustbin bigger
Make someone else empty it, problem solved. :)
Hopefully this means the S5 price will reduced when it comes out.
Excellent work as always!
Hi , help !
For some reason and I could be blind but your amazon link takes me to a whole lot of vacs , I’ve a hard time finding roborock’s model you have reviewed
Have you a direct link to roborock 6 or higher
Can you use the silicon sidebrush from s6 on the S5
Yes, i i would not advice to use it. The roborock doesn't brush the floor with it. It gathers dirt and pushes it twoards the vacuum area/ main brush. It has a proggramed rotation speed that knows how fast to spin it's "arm". By adding 2 more little hand to that arm you practically increase the time every hand gathers dirt and it may end up throwing it away not gathering it. Hopefully roborock took that into consideration when putting 5 hands on the brush and moddified the software. if not it will scatter dirt a lot more ;)
Muth Tudor thanks a lot for your reply 😁
Can you mop with water with this device ?
Yes
I just wish the app would update the path of the robot a little quicker. I would also like to see the app keep the path the robot took to clean the room after you pause the cleaning and want to insert a no go zone.
Does it support multiple floors? E.g can I manually move it between floors without it needing to reset itself (like the S5)
miniztry1 what do you mean reset itself? With the map saving function on the S5 cannot do multiple floors.
How close does the mopping function clean against the wall?
The roborock S6 brings almost nothing new compared to the roborock S5. Only software. What Roborock doesn't seem to understand is that robot vacuums are not like cellphones to release one every year, or every year and a half. People don't go with their vacuums and put them on a bar so people see that they have the latest generation. They don't try to be cool with them. The robot vacuum no matter what brand stays in a corner or underneth some furniture and wayts to be put to work. You care how well it improves your life. How well it can vacuum, how long it's battery lasts, how well it navigates (cover entire house, climb and go around obstacles, go underneeth furniture, etc), how much maintanance it needs (cleaning filters, emptying dustbox, etc), how long it lasts in time (you don't want to buy one every year), about it's mopping abilities. You care less about it's noise level since it mostly works when you're not home or about it's looks about the colorphones of the application. Even Apple, Samsung, Huawei understand that they have to release new software for previous models in order to keep their customers and to make the phones work good. Xiaomi Roborock (or just Roborock) doesn't seem to understand that. They don't care about their former customers. After a very bad warranty pollicy now they take the same thing, replace the buttons and try to sell it as a completly new and better product when the only difference is in the software (application). It is a lie that the S5 can't support multiple floors or room management. Since it can suport no go zones it means that it knows how the house (rooms) are deployied and how to "split" the house into different areas. They just give that option to some customers and to some others don't with the same product. Everyone would have understood if the robot where to have major improvements. Like a self emptying dock like the roomba i7+, a very good mop like narwal (what they did to the mop is useless upgrade + you can put it to the S5) or a much bigger vacuuming ability (it has the same 2000 MPa like the S5). A bigger battery life, it has still like the former model 5200 mAh battery. Noooo the only difference is the SOFTWARE,... This robot doesn't worth buying since the companys pollicy is to put one out on the market every year and not provide firmware support for their older models. Better buy a brand that knows how to value it's customers not spit on their face with warranty issues and cheat them with software.
I bought the S5 when it went on sale for $412. After watching this video, I agree with you. The changes are minor. Definitely not worth paying more than the previous version.
By the way, the Roborock S5 is a great vac and so far very happy with it. Now, if I can only get it to do the dishes....
@@ps429 it is a great robot i agree with you. I don't need the multiple floors and since i don't have a big house i don't care very much of rooms management. What i am pissed off about is their company policy. There's a riot on their fb page. They don't offer any support it seems for the previous model. Would you buy an iPhone (for ex) if in a year it where to be completely obsolete? People with multiple floors and big houses are even more angry than me about this. If this is their policy what will stop them from doing the same to the S6 when the S7 will arrive? and so on to the S7 with S8. i wanted to buy and S6 for another place that i own. This policy makes me go to Roomba i7+. Though it's more expensive it lasta longer in time, it's self-emptying dock is magical and they don't f**k their customers.
@@CountPorcula I'm not sure how many updates a model needs once it does what it's supposed to do. I have 30 days to return if it isn't up to the task and a year warranty. One of my main criteria's was, is the battery replaceable, just like with my cell phone. I want 5+ years usage out of it.
As far as the "self-emptying" dock, it doesn't justify a $500 price difference and after doing the research on a side by side comparison, the Roborock wins.
@@CountPorcula The only people causing a riot on the facebook page is you. You lead the mob. You do realize the facebook group represents a very small sample of the people who have bought and use this vac on a daily basis. It seems you may have an apparent obsession because I see your name on almost every roborock video that pops up on my suggested list. Most are oblivious and happy because their product preforms well and as described.
I bought s55 rose gold last year. And now bought s50 on offer 399 USD . Plus 2 s6. And wanted to buy one more s6. ( Became broke.. need to wait for next months salary )
You guys don't clean the roborock apparently ?
Removing hair itself is a huge difference on s6 . Plus my infant kept sitting on the roborock and used it as his new toy car. The new s6 stronger lever for tires is a welcome and again an improvement that cannot be ignored. My roborock s50 still works amazing except the newer firmwared upgrades had made it a little more stupid. And sometimes the roborock seems to find non existent invisible barriers randomly. ( Detects anomaly of Magnetic force perhaps )
For some reason your Mi Home app looks much better than mine on an Android. Does Xiaomi change the app interface depending on the device? I use S5.
Yes. My S60/S6 has a better looking map (with more features such as room creation/scheduling) than my friend's S50/S5
spining sensor is attached to main rotor with a ruber band, and yes rubber dosent last much. Mopping with only water is useless.
In Norway it's quite a bit more expensive than the S5(50/55). The S50 is 4100 and the S55 is 4400(because black plastic is more expensive?). The S6 however is priced at 6000 NOK. (prices are rounded of to nearest hundred because I don't do the 10 off 100 bs)
Last year the black one was cheaper. I bought rose gold cheaper than whites price. It's just stock dependent pricing and demand pricing. The black one had come down to 299 USD at one point.
Gearbest has white now for 397 USD ( special offer ) and black for 455 or something
Hi, can you tell if regular S6 is actually better than S6 Pure? I haven't found much info on differences and prices seem to be about same...
Does it support multiple floors?
Not at the moment, no.
@@androidheadlines that's weird, because I read the T6 can. Is the S6 a different model than the T6? I read the should basically be the same machine...
We've asked Roborock and will get back to you on that.
They should have named it Robosuck. That would be legendary :D :D
What about mop carpet mode? I don't see any reason upgrading from s5. I dont have a huge flat, and if i did it would go back to charge and continue the cleaning.
I just bought the S60 but will spare parts (brushes, mops etc) from the S50 fit on the S60? Thanks in advance.
I've been waiting for some decent commentary on the S6, you've done a great job.
I have the original Xiaomi vacuum, and it struggles to get over transitions from hardwood to carpet (about 1.6cm perhaps). How have you found the S6 in terms of getting up ledges etc.?
Unfortunately, we don't have any tall transition strips in this particular house. The one we tested the Roborock S50 in last year had very tall strips (1920's house with some rather uneven rooms) and had no issues at all with that. Part of the improvement from Mi Robot Vacuum to the Roborock branded ones was the reversal in direction of the wheels, which help traversal over tall transitions and over thicker carpet. The S60 should work just as well for this.
I got the S5 which can get over our 2+ transition as well. The S6 should have better climbing ability as it has new/improved wheels and suspension.
Great review, thanks!
I would recommend that you do not look any further🌼 if you wanna vacuum that works efficiently, is quality built, comes with excellent customer service, easy to clean and best of all care free of problems, then I highly recommend the Roborock S6. The one thing I cannot review on is the mop because I have not use that part of it but I can guarantee That the map on this product will work just as perfectly as the vacuum itself does.
Is the separate room mapping only available for the S6 or also for the S5?
Radu Bogdan It doesn’t have it on my S5 even after the firmware update from last week.
It has it on the S5 now.
I hope this UI update will come to my s5 that I bought this christmas. And who cares about it beeing more quiet then s5, 95% of ppl will be somewhere else while it cleaning.
Does Roborock S6 suck out dirt from the cracks of the wooden floor well?As good as the DEBOT 950? Or as bad as Roborock S5??
Our goal is to put together more comprehensive videos so you can get questions like that answered. Based on our other tests, the s6 should work a bit better than the s5 at any task.
@@androidheadlines And if you compare DEBOT 950 with RoboRock S6? will the DEBOT 950 be more powerful and better?
does this work on dark carpets?
what happened at 10:29 the side brush stopped! broken? I have the previous S5 model and love it!
It has a variable speed brush that stops spinning on carpet.
S5 also started doing this after update. :/
No dark carpet test? I'm sad......
We're planning on doing a comparison test that will include things like this. Roborock didn't specify an improvement in that particular sensor (unlike iRobot which went out of its way to on the i7). Do you currently have a robot vacuum that has this issue?
@@androidheadlines I have the first generation Xiaomi robot vacuum, but I had some cliff sensor covers 3D printed to allow it to work on black rugs. If I had to guess, I'd guess it's not fixed on the S6... Neatos work fine on black rugs/carpet so makes you wonder why Roborock can't resolve it if it still has issues on black rugs.
How would you rate this against the top of the line Neato D7?
Better navigation for sure. Neato's isn't bad, this is just really, really well done.
Depending on your home's layout this could be better for hard floors because of the mopping add-on, which is able to pick up smaller particles during the process. It's difficult in this home to rely on that though because at least half of it is covered in carpet or area rugs.
@@androidheadlines so would you say this is the new King of the Hill? I am ignoring the fact that the Roomba i7 is self-cleaning as it is something that I really don't need.
I like my D7 but the app is a mess, robot constantly loses the saved floor plan (or rather fails to recognize it, even though the docking station hasn't been moved or changed). Then I have to create a new floor plan, put in new zones and schedules and no go lines, just for it to lose it a couple of runs later again. Annoying and based on forums seems a frequent issue.
@@urbantwilight so based on this video, would you rate the Roborock above your D7 as well?
Haven't run into that issue on the D7 here, but we've had that issue with some other robot vacuums from a few years back (noted in those particular reviews).
super, I have the first version too cool
3:20 does it really supporr 5Ghz?
Hey threre, how gentle it is on the furniture Compared to S5?
It's noticeably more gentle. They improved the navigation quite a bit.
What phone are you using in the video?
I am very interested in what the name of the app is that you are using. I have the S5 and use the Xiaomi Home app, but that does not have those additional colors, the vacuum graphic or the same features.
It's literally the same app. It just looks different because the S5 doesn't support the new features of the S6.
Your review didn't really say how well the S6 cleans, particularly edge cleaning. Can you please provide more information on cleaning results? Thank you.
This is S6 or T6?
It's the same. T6 is for China S6 is for EU/US.
Perfect option for anyone
Is the S6 compatible with Amazon's Alexa?
Yes
When will they start communicating with indoor doors so doors can open/close as needed by the robot? Or at least as first development step recognize that it's a door and try to push it till entering the room.
This is 90% a roborock s5 firmware upgrade masquerading as a new model. Shame on you roborock. Support your existing models
BotVac did this too. The $500+ models had no-go-lines in app, others didn't. When others started to compete and bring their prices down, they firmware updated older models to have no-go-lines. Roomba also did the same thing. Every company has. So, long story short, chances are we will see a firmware update to older models AFTER all the fools buy the latest at the high price. Once things balance out, they will push a firmware update.
Hopefully, somebody outs the source for the S6 so we can "update" our S5's.
Woah. This is good to know as I'm looking for a robotic vacuum.
The computer chip is a major upgrade which will allow for better performance.
fortunately my house is the size of just one section of your house. So should work :)
Did your side brush break at 10:28?
No, it's variable speed so it doesn't spin on carpet.
the price is not the same, stop misleading people. 340€ vs 548€ . or 382$ vs 600$ it's much more expensive
ShockAndRock I bought two S5 at AliExpress one at 325€ and other at 338€. Price will decrease and we just need to be watching and waiting for it. The extra price don’t worth it
Is there an Apple iOS version of the app?? I know, I know, this is an Android channel, but....
Apple 🍏 sucks
CC CC I disagree and being the size of their company, so does a lot more people
I don't see any improvement compared to S5, just some small cosmetic tweaks. The fact that neither robot does not support two-floor apartments/houses is still a major drawback to me. But I'm still sticking to my S5, at least until 4th gen of Roborock.
S6 supports two story homes as you can save now two maps instead of one. If this comes to S5 with an update is unknown for me but possible.
Well S5 is so great its hard to improve a lot. But better navigation, quieter, multiple floor plans, rooms ect. With same price its a good evolutionary update. That doesn't mean that people having 1st or 2nd gen need to upgrade. I know I wont.

@@armenshocker it will get cheaper in time. The S5 was a little more expensive when it appeared. A few months later its price dropped arouund 70-100$. The floating head brush could be big problem. It will not deep clean just ride above a stiff carpet. I7+ still is king and will be until they all have auto dust bin emptying
One thing i'll say, robots vacuums are amazing, until you have to clean the brush! If you have long hair or/pets, this is a nightmare. You've been warned 😆
I have a cat and haven't vacuumed with an upright in a while. I ran the Roborock for the first time, filled the catch bin twice, and had absolutely no problem with the brush loading up with hair. Maybe it's just your vac and the brush design.
@@ps429 Maybe.. Did you look at your brush? Most brush designs have this problem with long hair. They get tangled up pretty bad and it's hard to clean.
@@BladeDoomer86 I pulled the brush out to clean it and other than a couple strings wrapped around the pulley, I saw no cat hair wrapped around the brush. I've ran it twice now and the bin gets full of hair and dirt. Maybe it's the design of the Roborock brush or my cat has magical hair. Now mind you, I have a regular haired cat and no one in the house has long hair. But even if it did get wrapped with hair, they give you a razor tool to cut it free. Not a big deal. Just buy multiple machines if you got a big house
Why the hell would you have carpets yuck!!!!

These are great if you are too poor to buy a house with multiple floors and too lazy to spend the 5 minutes vacuum your single level apartment.
Just get an elevator lol
i have always tought that poor people live in multi storey houses because they cant afford a big piece of land
Spend 5 minutes vacuuming my apartment? why should I when my robot can do it?
It's a nice gadget toy for fun but certainly not a true vacuum cleaner by far, it can suck only dust and that if it isn't thick of a layer.
@Just for Fun Deep cleaning is usually only necessary for neglected or infrequently vacuumed floors. But yea it’s still a good idea to have a traditional vacuum on hand when deeper cleaning is needed.
So far so good with this vacuum. ruclips.net/user/postUgkx8ISPQRRAfpAaX4msGjyodObTBnlj4T5g I was a little concerned to find it seems to be all plastic, but the reviews were good, so I'm hoping for the best. Very easy to assemble Recommened, and only attachments I've used so far work well, and are easy to use. Doing a good job on the new carpet in my bedrooms and stairs. Works well on the hardwood on my main floor too. Reasonable weight and cord length. I already knew from an earlier review that it wouldn't fit under furniture, but I can use my Eufy for that, so no problem - the high traffic areas that need a stronger suction was really what I bought this for. If it continues as it's started, it will be a good buy and well worth the money. I have had two Shark Rocket stick vacs in the past that are super easy to use, but the motors just don't last well, even with scrupulous cleaning of the filters. I'm hoping for better with this Bissell.
