That was me driving 88003 on 4S44 - I was being assessed as part of my final passout to become a driver! I had my final assessment six days later and passed - I’m now a fully qualified train driver! 😊
One of my favourite aspects of these videos is actually seeing the people on the platforms, watching in excitement. It's so cool seeing these kind of freight trains
Nice to see you caught the new Whiskeyliner return train (4M50), this was the first day it ran and was deliberately planned to have 66587 leading with matching boxes loaded at the front!
This video could be a snapshot of UK's current balance of trade. Traffic from Southampton (imports) looks to be running at or near capacity whereas traffic to Southampton (exports) looks to be running at nowhere near capacity and is hauling empties to be filled with imports. Really good video though!
Wow! This is so cool! How do you know when a freight train is coming though? When I go trainspotting, I don’t usually end up seeing many, so how have you videoed all these?
The cars will be going to the Speke freight terminal next to the retail park. It’s next to the Ford dealer I worked at 22-25 years ago. We used to get all the damaged in transit stuff to fix off the trains and trucks
@@trainsplanes there was quite a few in fairness. The damage ranged from light scuff to complete total losses. I recall a Mondeo ST200 being crushed on a double decker train, A Escort Estate being dropped from the top front position of a truck on its nose
A great place to shoot freight - though I would dispute the term ‘high speed’ - nothing looked to be running at or exceeding 75mph. When we run these trains at 100mph or 125mph, then it’ll be high speed
How do you Brits ship those automobiles out in the open like that? Here in the U.S. they would be sacked by the Vandals the first time that train slowed down within city limits.
@@trainsplanes I got called out to a transporter train years ago, it had stopped somewhere en route and kids had messed with the cars, when it went through Nuneaton one of the cars made contact with the platform edge, pushing it into three other cars - they were a mess

Awesome - Well done!! 👏 👍
Well done 👍
Very cool
How fast are the trains going in this video?
Congratulations!

I’m very impressed by the pulling power of that 88.

I was late pressing record for this so only just caught it in time!

Superb mate.
Thank you! Cheers!
Great video!
Thanks! Glad you liked it 👍
2:45 113 Visible cars but I think 136 Total.
Looks about right..! 👍
The pink ONE liveried loco rather nicely matching the first few containers there at0:47.
Apparently it was intentional to put 587 at the front of that train

Hi Chris, how many got damaged roughly out of interest..?
@@trainsplanes there was quite a few in fairness.

I thought they covered cars up on trains to stop metal fragments from the track/wheels/brakes settling on the car paint and rusting?
They don’t seem too bothered nowadays. Must have analysed the damage rate and worked out it’s cheaper to run them in lower cost open wagons. 🤷♂️
that curve 2 the right looks like a model railway . ( tight curve )
2:49 Don't show Elon Musk this bit, it'll be another "revolutionary idea to end all traffic problems".

Hi Andrew, 75mph is the capped speed for the majority of freight on the WCML - Thats plenty fast enough when you are up close to them.
Used to be a signaller here in the early 1990s, was a great job before they 4 tracked it all and resignalled the route
I seen 88009 at Garston
Those 68s can haul ass
It’s an 88
On that first train, so many empty places.
How do you Brits ship those automobiles out in the open like that?

Keep the train moving I guess is the answer 👍

Make the most of it. That will be the fastest those "Dagenham dustbins" will ever run.😂😂😂
Wow they dont hang about . Do they? And I do always wonder about having all the weight at the end of the train.
