Well spoken (or typed). Austin is awesome and everyone we interacted with was great. No complaints, which is a pretty rare outcome for warranty support.
THANK YOU THANK YOU! Mine will start being built on Monday. I will feel so comfortable now if I need to take it to Ohio for service! Shew what a relief!
Nice to see they went beyond the call of duty to make things right and more. You guys are great and I hope that company gets some business because of what they did for you. Thanks for sharing.
I see in a different video , that you shudder. Great that you give a positive example that shuddering doesn't prevent you from having a vlog. AND you teach! Love it! Disability doesn't define you. Just another challenge to beat.! Love you channel.
Hope you two are both well. Little bit of a shock to see how your factory visit & tour were altered by your health. It's comforting to hear about positive RV experiences, so thanks for sharing. Alas, it isn't widespread within the industry. A suggestion for you: I'm sure you think ahead about travel plans. Might you have a 'grand plan' for the balance of the good weather and what lies ahead for the cold seasons that will arrive all too soon? And Sasha, best wishes to you. You must still be feeling a little St. Petersburg withdrawal.
Thanks, getting sick really threw a monkey wrench into our plans. But we made it through and are back on track. We do have a grand plan, however it changes constantly. Since we aren’t adamant about accomplishing our existing plans, we don’t really talk about our overall goals. Getting into this full time travel life, and, RUclips in particular, has changed our lives in ways we could never have planned for. So we go where the wind takes us. We will be leaving NH soon and heading to the Pacific North West, which is the only region we haven’t been to yet. We will find some warmer weather for winter in the south west and possibly Texas again. We have made so many friends that we are constantly planning and meeting up with people as we travel. We have plans for some new international trips, but those have been on hold since we set off in our truck camper in late 2019. Who knows what will happen, but we’re ready!
I really wanted to record the process, but they have strict rules about customers being in a work area. They aren’t allowed to conduct any work while customers are in the work area due to safety regulations. It would have been really cool though!
It would be nice if NuCamp had a line of used ones all hooked up for customers and their families to use during repairs. It would save a ton on motel/food costs, and it would be a feature to promote during sales.
I believe going thru the manufacturer was your best decision. RV dealers for the most part are there to sale and can be difficult to work with afterwards. Enjoy the freshened up home and stay healthy .
100% agree. I’ve had plenty of experience with dealers and it’s never gone well. Our experience at the factory service center was excellent and we would happily drive back there for any future repairs. Going to a dealer is a bit of a gamble. It is nice to have everything freshened up and ready for another year of travel! Thanks for the comment!
Great service and will provide years of additional service life for your truck camper. You being on the ball and noticing this items is what really matters. Most people don't pay close enough attention to their equipment. Nice work! I also just hit 40k on my 2018 RAM 3500
NuCamp seem like a really top notch company and so sweet in providing that amazing basket! Wow! Talk about above and beyond! I wonder if you could find a light weight grid to put under the mattress, so you could lift the whole thing and prop it up for drying? Just a thought…
NuCamp is terrific! It's already on a Froli system, I just got forgetful about our drying process. It's also been 2 years, condensation is a pretty common occurrence for all RVs, so it wasn't unexpected at all.
The real truth is the lack of warranty repairs happening at the factory shop. Small group of people to perform the work, and- obviously, they didn't need your permission to replace anything that was worn, water damaged or worn out! Super impressed with what was covered, how easy they were to work with (I'm sure we would've learned about it from you if that was NOT your experience!) and how nice they were about odds & ends (mattress was a smoking hot deal!) Yes, it took 9 days and hotels aren't cheap with people traveling again- so there was some skin in the game, but you have a practically new camper with all of your personal modifications installed already! I remember saying that I didn't prefer the NuCamp Cirrus line of campers, but- I must rescind that statement. I really like the Alde heat & hot H2O system and you both have been pretty happy with this small space as your home- a genuine testament to the quality of the unit.
I too was surprised at the lack of major problems. I expect all the little stuff, and more. Buying a Cirrus 2 years ago was a bit of a gamble, but the reputation that NuCamp had gave us some comfort. Now, getting a chance use and abuse the camper, use NuCamp support dozens of times for little questions and details and finally go through a full warranty repair process, we are elated. They were really excellent to work with and went above and beyond in many ways. The fact that they polished our windows (a task that I was dreading) really shows how they think. As a relatively large company, their attention to detail and the customers is commendable. I know there are some bad stories out there, but ours has been great so far. And yes, our goal is to tell it how it is, the good, the bad and the ugly. We try to stay positive, but when bad stuff happens, that’s what we share. We had a recent problem with getting tires that I’ll be sharing in an upcoming video. One of the worst consumer experiences I’ve ever had.
Great video, new to the channel. We really like nucamp. Really looking forward to the barefoot travel trailer. I was also interested in the 620 or 720. Safe travels.
Welcome aboard! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. If we get a chance to review any of the campers we will. We tried to stop at a couple dealers to look at them but they were out of stock!
The biggest issue I've run into is that with a 1 year warranty, and for someone like myself who might only use the camper 5-10 times in that first year, the problems really don't pop up until after the warranty expires.
I agree. This was a new product when we bought it and it was a bit of a gamble. I know they have increased the warranty on newer models. It’s probably a good idea to go slow with new products until you have a good history. We are feeling lucky!
I'm having the same issue with the trim and they are sending me a new seal for the door window. I like the people there always pleasant on the phone. I also sent you a few pictures of my tie downs.
Check out DIY SOLAR I forget his name but anyway he does all sorts of reviews where he tears everything thing apart and test them better than UL Laboratories and when's the last time you heard from them. It used to be the go to for testing products. I like the way you do it also and also you handle everything so diplomatically and when you handle things that way companies like Nucamp love that. I sold Mac Tools for over 20yrs and that's the way I handled warranty. I had a moto Never loose a Customer over a chunk of steel. Warranty it! There were some exceptions.
@@Stonyboot he certainly is I just couldn't remember the name he's a neat kinda Nerd but he's also genius I think his IQ is way up and he likes his cat. The camper looks sharp, almost new again. Would have been awkward if you’d have loaded up the wrong camper 😂. Have you considered getting rid of all the stuff hanging on the back and front of your truck (and on top of the camper) and going with a small enclosed off-road trailer? I know it’s a big expense but it would solve a lot of storage problems and might improve your fuel mileage.
I’ve been back and forth about that so many times. The trailer would be great for hauling bikes and toys, and having a dry “shop” to work in. But, it would drastically limit where we can park, where we can drive and where I can turn around. The rack on the front is just for firewood and such occasionally. The bikes, we are debating what to do. We love having them, but we aren’t sure if we right often enough to justify them. If we decide later that we want them, it would be crazy expensive to have them shipped to us. So it’s an on going decision process that we are not even close to solving.
@@Stonyboot We travel with pretty nice mountain bikes that I didn’t want exposed to the elements and potential thieves, so I built a platform in the back seat area of my truck that stores two bikes upside down with just the front wheels removed. The platform has storage compartments for our helmets shoes, and other riding gear and tools. It works well, but obviously we lose so much storage area for other things that could have gone there. Along with a storage tray on our front hitch, it is working for us now, but we haven’t yet done any long trips in our 720.
Great video! Those thing seem minor for as much as you use the unit. I've owned a 920 since July of 2018, and for an infrequent weekend camper like myself, have run into a few more problems. My biggest issue has been the Norcold refrigerator. From day 1 it has seemed to not work the best, and recently it simply stopped working on gas. Works fine on electric, but on gas, even with a nice blue flame, it will not cool. My Norcold certified dealer has tried everything he knows and that the Norcold rep suggests, but nothing has fixed the problem. $2900 to replace it, so I'm still trying to find other options.
Thanks for watching! We had a computer board fail on our fridge in the first month we had it. That was fixed by norcold and it’s a known problem. I didn’t include that since it isn’t a NuCamp item. However, since it’s been fixed, it’s worked perfectly. When it does die again, I’ll replace it with a compressor fridge. Last I looked, there are some option around $1200-$1400.
Camper now at a new shop, so hopefully they can figure it out. Latest Norcold suggestion is to replace the burner and orifice. I think this unit has been suspect from the very beginning. Always had to run it on max level to keep things even somewhat cool, and flame would always go out if I tried to travel with it on. The new 12v options are interesting, but my local shop seems hesitant due to some problems he is hearing about. He also told me finding the right size for my opening will be difficult. Have you identified any that might fit? If I can’t get things fixed, I might not have any other option than a new one. Thanks!
The latches I was referring to were nowhere to be found. I had come up with a decent solution, but the factory latches are so strong that I was happy to have a replacement.
I know your busy I'm getting a Renogy 3000 watt inverter I was thinking of mounting it under the step below the frig. Any tips?. I'm leaving on my Alaska trip I might just head North to Ohio to the factory maybe they can fix my trim.
Ours is a little different. If you can make it work, go for it. Be mindful of the water system and where the inverter will be located. Also, what do you have fir batteries? I forget.
I just added two 100 Amp hr Lithium Chins from Amazon. I know you have Battleborn and there great but at 1100 each the CHINS were 469.00 each and they have 5 star rating.
It was the 1 year factory warranty. But, there more to the story. At the end of our 1 year warranty, we submitted a list to NuCamp for coverage. Due to Covid and our own delays in getting there, the appointment was pushed back almost a year (another example of their flexibility and customer focus l) They only issues that would be covered were the ones documented via email at the end of our first year. Anything after that would have been out of warranty. We didn’t purchase any additional warranty.
The mattress definitely took a turn for the worse. While it is thin, it’s pretty firm which I love. We are both very happy with it. We actually like it better than our old king sized, expensive home mattress! When it came time to replace it, we decided to just stick with what works:)
Sasha & Scott, they really took good care of you. They went above and beyond.....that says so much about their brand. I am impressed!
They really did. So far we’ve been very happy with NuCamp!
A clear sign of professional company with great management team who cares about their customers and quality of their products.
