Spider-man's original costume was black and red.
Spider-man 2099 is also black and red, not blue.
The blue is just how comics highlight black.

Insomniac's spidey they even call it "2099 black" acknowledging that it's actually black...even though their suit is blue.
But according to the comics, both in design and in dialogue it's black.

@@gammaomegadonut1201 all the blue in every subsequent iteration of spidey's suit is a long-running mistake that people ran with to make him more preschool friendly. Same with Batman when he's colored blue and grey, rather than his original black and gunmetal. Blue coloring was only meant to illustrate dynamic lighting. Even Stan Lee himself confirmed it.

The black symbiote suit never made Peter do evil things in the original comics. In the comics the suit didn't affect his personality at all. That was something that was introduced in the 90's animated series.
The symbiote didn't make the 616 Spider-Man violent at all, it just made him tired all the time because it was taking him out to fight crime while he was asleep. The whole time he had it he was just normal (but tired) Peter Parker. The Bag-Man suit also had a "Kick Me" sign taped to the back put there by the Torch.

In the Amazing Spider-Man comic book, the symbiote wasn't evil, just tried to bond with Peter physically and mentally, and eventually he wouldn't have been able to remove it. The 90s Spider-Man animated series and then Spider-Man 3 that used the idea of the symbiote being "evil".

@@asmproductions1649 Very true, but my point was that the symbiote wasn't evil to begin with. The Alien Costume trilogy from the 90s Spider-Man series and then Spider-Man 3 established the symbiote as evil from the beginning. There is even another storyline in the comics where the symbiote was considered an abberation amongst its own kind and imprisoned, which was where Peter found it in the original Secret Wars arc. The video's author stated it was evil when Peter found it, but we know in the comics, it wasn't evil until the rejection and bonding with Brock.

I've Followed Spider Man quite a bit over the years, just don't remember when this became a part of it.
You'd think people would worry about more important things.... but some have no life apparantly.
Correction: In the original comics the Venom suit did not make him do evil things unconsciously. It took him out to fight crime while he was asleep.
I didn't read the old comics, but wasn't that spectacular Spider-Man? In almost every Spiderman story, it made him unwillingly evil

Ben Reily eventually became the Scarlet Spider? I thought he was already Scarlet Spider, then became Spider-Man.
animalchandler no he was Spider-Man because he thought peter was the clone after peter came back and it was revealed that Ben was the clone he became scarlet spider hope that cleared things up for you
Scorpion ________ Ben Reily was the Scarlet Spider first as a way to fight crime along side Peter before they thought Peter was the clone. When Peter decided to settle down, Ben then took the Spider-man mantle. Later they consider both being a “spider-man” but ultimately Ben dies later on. (This is a VERY truncated version of events).

Pretty good, informative overall, hopefully good accurate info on a few suits I'm not as familiar with. Reason for the "hopefully" part is for a few discrepancies. Spider-Man's original suit from Amazing Fantasy was actually (designed as) black with blue-ish shining. Either because it was easier to caller or due to printing problems it went to dark blue with heavy shadows to so predominantly blue that " in story" and real world people began calling it blue. Same thing happened to other's black costumes, like Miguel O'Hara Spider-Man 2099 suit, Black Panther's PRE-vibranium-mesh body suit ("a blue leotard") and Johnny Blaze's originally black racing leathers.
The symbiote was trying to mimic Peter's heroic activities when it controlled his unconscious body. It was more violent than him, but not doing evil things. The symbiote didn't start doing evil things until it was corrupted by Eddie Brock (yes I know once Venom became a cash-cow a lot was (re)written &/or retro-conned to try and make it seem the other way around, but anyone who's read the original stories knows what I'm talking about).
Not a mistake, but it would've been a nice detail to mention that the prototype for The Hornet's flying harness was a gift from Spidey's ally Hobie (The Prowler) Brown.
You forgot the sp//dr suit from the comics. While it is primarily known for being used by peni, it was still used by the spider-man of that universe and it had some fairly significant changes from the original suit

Miles Morales, Miguel O'Hara and Ben Reilly aren't Peter Parker and Superior Spider Man is technically Doctor Octopus, not Peter Parker Also Spider Man 2211

Fun fact Miguel O'Hara's (spiderman 2099) suit isn't actually blue its black and red but there's no way to really show/shade a black and red suit in a neon city so the comic book artist who worked on Spider-Man 2099 highlighted the suit with deep blue

The order is all over the place, it would be better if you went through chronically or at east had a more cohesive division by theme, but never introducing Scarlet Spider after Ben Reilly's Spider-Man costume, etc.

Ben Reilly was the Scarlett Spider before he took on the mantle of Spider-Man and then he died. He came back decades later.
They only thing about the MCU Spider-Man I don’t like is he doesn’t make his own suits like he did in the comics otherwise the current Spider-Man is the best. The one thing I enjoy about the older movies and the comics is that peter makes most of his suits him self because he’s a genius. Yes some suits were made for him but the majority of his suits are made by him.

I read, awhile ago, that the original suit was supposed to be red and black. It was only changed to red and blue because people assumed that was the colors because of the previous blue highlights used on the black portions similar to how Superman's hair is shown as black with apparent blue highlights.

Miguel’s suit is black not blue. I know it sounds weird but the blue was meant to be futuristic neon lighting reflecting off his suit (similar to how they use blue to highlight venom’s costume). If you don’t believe me then check the very og comics and cops and people call him “the freak in the black suit”.

Apparently the 2099 suit is actually black and it is even stated that the suit is black in the Spider Man PS4 game. It looks blue because of the massive neon light pollution in 2099, but honestly, I think that the illustrators could have done a better job at conveying that the suit wasn't blue

The Sam Raimi Spider-Man suit didn't have web shooters, because that version of Spider-Man had organic webbing shoot from his wrists.
The Black Suit symbiote didn't combine with Spidey's suit, since that suit (and the web-shooters) were destroyed in Secret Wars. Peter found something that he thought would create a new costume for him...but wound up being the original symbiont!
The Iron Spider suit also allowed Peter to "listen" along his web-lines, and enhanced his new powers he gained after he was "reborn" after being killed by Morlun.

The suit from Amazing Fantasy #15 is actually black. The blue was used for highlights, much like what was done with the sym-bee-ote suit and venom. Artists later on made the suit red and blue.
The original suit was black and red not blue and red, the “blue” you see was the artist version of light, but the suit was actually black

You forgot Spidey's original suit, his like first ever actual super hero suit, the traditional red and blue but instead of blue it's black and instead of a red spider on the back it's a blue spider.
