@@victoriabell9546 Very true! It definitely has to do with the more realistic proportions of the Sportsmates. Since the Miis don't have arms, it can look like they're just flailing around sometimes (which does give them their own unique charm).
The switch version seriously lacks personality. Take the strike screens for example, now it's just some basic text with little fireworks. In the old games it actually looks like a screen you'd see while watching a sports broadcast. The new game just looks so off.

Wii Sports and Resort were my very 1st Wii games and Nintendo games in general. Me and my family absolutely adored it growing up. Most Video games were hard for my parents to get into, but Not These Sports games.

I think the hands are more unnatural for a Mii, for me it's not so much with the arms, the reason why they are most of the time missing arms in Wii Sports series and Wii Music, and not Wii Play series and Wii Party for example, is because the games had to run in a pretty high framerate, so having arms for the moments where the placement of the hands on the on screen Mii had to follow where you were using motion for, would've felt janky or chugged the performance. Also the limiting the limbs for crowds was another way to conserve performance. Now why am I talking about performance? Well because otherwise it would look choppy or would slow down the que for actions
People who said Sportsmates and Miis are emotionless in Nintendo Switch Sports confuses me. Wdym, the past three Wii Sports Miis always have their neutral expression like tf?
I think they just didn't use the right words, I think they mean how you can costumize the faces on the Miis, but on the Sportsmates they're completely stuck.

Those new Switch Sports animations are SO smooth! Definitely a lot more realistic.
One factor in that might be the fact that the Sportsmates and Miis have arms and not floating spheres for hands like in the first three installments.

The miis have realistic bodies in other games especially super smash bros ultimate. Unless you use the 2 minecraft mii costumes of creeper and pig.
