The thing about colours is that it was already 30fps in the wii so the switch makes no difference for me. Also colours isn't about speed alone, that's generations
@@EA-bv8zk Frame rate impacts controls too though. I don't have the best reaction times so 30fps vs 60fps is often the difference between a playable game and constantly dying for me. I've also always been sensitive to how much harder it is to see whats going on at 30fps, especially on an LCD as there's already a fair bit of pixel latency when the frame changes, the less it changes from frame to frame, the easier on the eyes it is.
@@Fictionboy16 yeah but they should have played it on og hardware for an accurate comparison since not everyone has gotten their hands on the new consoles.
The Load time comparission is not entirely accurate for PS4 times, as on a PS4/Pro those loadtimes are comparable to the Wii if not a few seconds longer.
I don't get why everyone is hating on the Switch version, because it takes like 15 seconds to load, which honestly isn't a lot of time when you think about it. The game still looks great, even if the frame rate is a little lacking in places. We will most likely get patches to try and fix these issues as well.
Probably because it has more than double the load time compared to a 15 year old console. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume patches will hopefully mitigate it in the future, but it's embarrassing nonetheless.
@jose ramiro reynoso ruiz keep in mind the switch uses different hardware, while that doesn't make it okay for the load times to be longer or the framerate to be worse the components for the switch are not the same as the wiis. So there are bound to be hiccups
How are the load times worse than the Wii?? I get that the game might be somewhat graphically improved or whatever and there's also the whole thing where the load times could get patched later on, but the Wii was super under powered even for its time and it came out in 2006!! What the actual hekking heck??
In some instances the Wii surpasses the Switch like that crystal and the mandala on the ground, it's also surprising those loading times from Switch I'd totally expect something equal to the Wii version or even less. Wii has a lot of bright, overall PS4 is the way to go then Switch and Wii but I'm impress that some part from the original were a little bit better mostly in color than the Wii version, rather than that is an amazing game.

That aside, I KNOW all the comments coming will sum up as, “the Switch version sucks, it runs at 30FPS.” I’m starting to wonder if many people consider it either a companion system or an indie machine at this point
Exactly, the whole thing about the PS5 being a next generation console was the whole shtick about non-existant loading times. If this was captured on the PS4, as it should have been, then there should have been at least 4-6 seconds of extra loading time
It seems the switch version does not use the CPU fast time mode so yeah, bad comparison overall, probably a way to make people fight in the comments :/.

Not to mention the sound issues... Some things will hopefully be patched, but overall I'd stick with the Wii version until we get mod support.
The loading times are actually the same on the PS4 they are using the PS5 to run this which isn’t a fair comparison since the PS5s SSD has amazing load times for new and older titles.
Holy crap it takes 3 times longer to load the level on Switch than Wii did! Plus other than resolution I honestly think the original Wii game looks much better. The reflection of sonic on ps4 & switch in the intro doesn’t match but the Wii did. How?
In the newer versions you can barely see Sonic’s shoes when rail grinding
These intros never miss, goddamn🔥🔥🔥
Is it just me or is it weird that the wii version loads faster than the Nintendo switch
Yeah, it is faster than the Switch version lmao.
@@Dorian_Scott I mean other Switch games load slow. Look at Luigi’s Mansion 3 for example.
@@traviscunningham7062 yeah but you have to remember this is a upgrade how does the old console from 2005 loads faster than a Nintendo switch from this decade
@@bobbyh15 and you have to remember the Wii doesn't even output hd graphics lmao
@@AsecasJavi yeah but that's still no excuse
Good video. Will still pick up the switch version because better access to play it if I’m not home. Don’t mind the FPS, but still hurts a bit that many of these remasters or ports to injustice to the switch. Honestly, this game can get 60 FPS on switch similar to how skyward sword HD has.
Apparently Blind Squirrel was tasked with the switch port🤦🏽
@@renereyes2648 Yeah, that company is not used to working with switch ports when looking at their previous ports. That and the fact Sega really pressured them to release them when it was going to take more time for all these platforms
Can’t wait to play this on the PS5 🤩
when the freaking Wii had better draw distance than the switch.
and before anyone think it's unfair to compare the switch to the ps5, the game still looks and run just like the ps5 even on the base ps4 it's just that it's running at 1080p instead of 4K, on the base ps4, the reason for that super fast loading time is due to the BC on the ps5 with it's fast SSD drive, on the base ps4 it's still load faster than the switch and the original Wii's regardless.
the switch version felt a bit undercooked.
I love this type of comparison video because it clearly shows my preferences based on which screen I watch longer!
sonic is the kind of game that really requires that 60 fps to feel good. its a game about speed afterall.
Original wasn't and we had no problems. I understand that you prefer 60, but honestly... The Wii game had no issues imo
I’ll be playing mine on the PS5. Very excited to play it
Edit: the load times on PS4 are insane
That's the ps5 loading times, this video is misleading as hell.
Guys, you did see the note about the PS4 footage being captured on PS5 at the beginning, right?
@@Fictionboy16 yes I did which is how I’ll be playing 👍
@@Fictionboy16 yeah but they should have played it on og hardware for an accurate comparison since not everyone has gotten their hands on the new consoles.
unironically wii version looks the best. 60FPS 1080p in the PS4 version is nice, but when it comes to pure artstyle the original is still superior.
The Load time comparission is not entirely accurate for PS4 times, as on a PS4/Pro those loadtimes are comparable to the Wii if not a few seconds longer.
Just started on a ps4 pro, 8 sec and 6 sec for both levels shown
I don't get why everyone is hating on the Switch version, because it takes like 15 seconds to load, which honestly isn't a lot of time when you think about it. The game still looks great, even if the frame rate is a little lacking in places. We will most likely get patches to try and fix these issues as well.
Ikr. Animal Crossing takes longer than that to load.
From what i hear, even Guilty Gear loads WAY longer.
@@NotAFederalAgent- I agree with your assumption, Spongebob rehydrated had long loading times on switch, and i think they were fixed in later patches.
Welp I was planning on getting this for the switch but looks like not anymore. Sucks too cause I was really looking forward to it.
They generally patch these load times later on. They did it with Odyssey and BOTW iirc
@@Bapringles true but the 30 FPS is another reason why I’ll get it on either Xbox or PlayStation
@@JohnAmmari001 understandable
How are the load times worse than the Wii??
I get that the game might be somewhat graphically improved or whatever and there's also the whole thing where the load times could get patched later on, but the Wii was super under powered even for its time and it came out in 2006!! What the actual hekking heck??
@@Bapringles those are in house nintendo games, third party games rarely see patches, sonic forces runs horrendously docked on switch still in 2021
In some instances the Wii surpasses the Switch like that crystal and the mandala on the ground, it's also surprising those loading times from Switch I'd totally expect something equal to the Wii version or even less. Wii has a lot of bright, overall PS4 is the way to go then Switch and Wii but I'm impress that some part from the original were a little bit better mostly in color than the Wii version, rather than that is an amazing game.
I can totally change this as graphically I still stand on PS4 > Switch > Wii but with the recent glitches I'd say the proper way is PS4 > Wii > Switch, is impressive how bad optimized is the Switch version and not only that, it has plenty of bugs and glitches, another Sonic Boom case but this time they messed with an awesome game as Colors already was lot's of fun as Boom that tried so hard and failed.
Why is the wii one better looking than the switch one omg (besides screen resolution)
Especially the transparency
To this day the wii Version of Sonic colours looks amazing for the time it was released.
4:33 That’s not a fair comparison! The video said at the beginning that the PS4 version was captured on the PS5!

Not a fair comparison in any way.
@@soragranda no excuses. The wii is 15 years old and loads faster than the switch by an absurd amount. It's a more than fair comparison between the wii and switch
@@brockwee But yeah Sega was crappy by not applying the CPU faster time in the switch version, a thing that is usable in pretty much the majority of switch games at this point, hopefully they make a patch.
In regards of fairness... Are you blind?, The switch version doesn't look like the Wii version, hell, they are using the PS4 mode of the PS5 to capture this, talk about "fairness".
tfw when you realize that the switch version has sonic 06 load times
Switch is ironically more faithful to how saturated the colors in the Wii's environments were. What a bummer that the load times are notoriously long tho :/
30fps on switch is a just meh, since the Wii version ran about 25-30fps, but I’ll still take it since it’s portable
I hope they at least patch the load times on Switch. Until then, I’m keeping my original Wii copy for a while longer.

Ultimate has really exaggerated post process effects (bloom, contrast) and seems washed out darker compared to the original. It also has some missing effects (2:11).
The Switch version in particular also has notable pop in issues (0:47 watch the Ferris wheel) and broken textures in some places (2:59), not to mention the inexcusable loading times.
Not to mention the sound issues...
Some things will hopefully be patched, but overall I'd stick with the Wii version until we get mod support.
You're referring to the shrubbery at 2:59 right?
The loading times are actually the same on the PS4 they are using the PS5 to run this which isn’t a fair comparison since the PS5s SSD has amazing load times for new and older titles.
how did they manage to make the loading times even longer on switch lol
Maybe because the Switch Version's loading are like a hard time graphic loads.
kinda prefer the wii for some reason
Holy crap it takes 3 times longer to load the level on Switch than Wii did! Plus other than resolution I honestly think the original Wii game looks much better. The dumb bonus content like the different color gloves and shoes and the Metal Sonic races where you don’t see him after you leave him in the dust within the first 10 seconds really aren’t a draw either. What a poop job.
I like the Switch version, because it looks less bloomy👍😁
It's 30fps but I respect ur opinion 😊
You gotta love how Nintendo isn't even trying to keep up with their contemporaries.
I can live with 30FPS (since the Wii version also ran at 30FPS) but those load times are a yikes from me.
30 FPS versions (Wii + Switch) looks so much more cinematic. Fantastic!
"PS4 footage captured on PS5", guys, these are not the PS4 load times, that version loads slower than the Wii original, running on my completely unmodified, standard HDD PS4 Pro.
Please make it clear in the title of the video this is on PS5, not PS4, thanks.
I so hope they fix the Switch's load times.
There's literally no excuse for the Switch loading times.
Thankful to have gotten a refund.
The Wii version looks better...
It's frustrating how other reveiwers say that there was only a bump in frame rate and resolution. There's clearly more going on in the new versions than that.

The PS4 boasts impressive resolution, but the Wii’s speed and dynamic movements offer a unique visual appeal.
I have played both the Wii and Ultimate (post-patched) versions of Sonic Colours. Both are okay but with the Ultimate version (at least on the PS4 and Xbox One platforms), there are achievements/trophies which are an extra layer of challenge

Once again the intros are the best
The main thing I don't like with the visuals in the new version....Is Sonic himself. It's kinda like the SADX issue where Sonic looks like he's made of plastic? It also doesn't look like Sonic's interacting with light sources half the time, which is most obvious at stage clear screens
Definitely picking up the PS4 release someday for the PS5.

@RelaxedSoniku89 What does framerate gotta do with loading times?
plus its 30fps on switch, get it on a real console you wont regret it
@ConfusedSoniku300 when it has the processing power of a modded toaster, no it isnt
@ConfusedSoniku300 Sony fanboys are the actual worst and Sony as a company is surprisingly anti consumer and arrogant, if anything I'm more on the Xbox side. Don't get me wrong I think the switch is great as a portable alternative when you don't have access to consoles. Mine collected dust for years but recently I bought a bunch of action games for it and having fun killing time while at work. It just doesn't even compare to current gen systems even close, example I was playing ninja gaiden 2 on switch and the frames chug to single digits at 240p in most areas and I regretted not getting on xbox
the switch version isn't really considered ultimate because nintendo decided to use the exact same frame rate for the game yet the console can run a maximum of 60FPS
I think most people would be happy being able to play this on a modern console.
You can play this on the latest PlayStation, latest Xbox, latest Nintendo-Console, and PC.
Wii is better in all aspects, even performance. Such a wasted opportunity from SEGA’s part
I'm glad that the Wii version is still the best, it has better and above all lighter colors and the shade of red has Sonic Adventure 2 charm, the new editions are only expensive nightmode tryhards, especially the earth is too dark...

Why is the Switch version so dark? And they overdid the saturation levels.
It’s a weird issue that happens every now and then only in the results screen, the images aren’t supposed to look like that as far as I know.
if you own the Wii version, there's very little reason to upgrade especially if you've got a widescreen HD CRT to play it on
