Scotland secured the biggest win in their cricketing history with a stunning six-run defeat of England. Callum MacLeod hit a brilliant 140 not out, and took the home side to 371-5 in glorious batting conditions in Edinburgh. Jonny Bairstow's 54-ball century looked to have England on course to clinch it, until they slipped from 220-2 to 276-7 with ultimately too much to do.

you only really want teams in a world cup who have a possibility to win that world cup. Scotland played well this game but has never beaten any other top tier team. You don't want any free wins, and that's why the 2019 WC was so exciting, cuz pretty much every game was a contest.

That will be possible only once they get to play bigger teams. This is how football has become a global sport. If weaker teams don't get the opportunity to showcase themselves in international arena, there won't be any motivation left for them to play. Cricket will always remain a sport of 10 nations in that case.

This is what frustrates me with the ICC. now me being Scottish might make me sound biased but as you can see there's talent in Scottish cricket but we need the support and funding from the ICC in order to progress Scottish cricket which they simply don't care about the smaller countries. The problem is that we lack any real infrastructure. We have a (sort of) pro regional tournament with three teams but it’s no where near first class standard, and the highest level of domestic cricket is the Cricket Scotland Premier even my local village team were in until they were relegated last year
