    Believe it or not, I made a great sounding, very realistic Jazz Guitar patch using this tutorial. I was following the instructions for using ALG 2 to create saw and square waves. By fiddling with the ENV rate and levels for each operator, I found this lovely tone. Thank you Mr. PowerDX7!

    That's killer that you got such a great comments from BT!!! You are definitely awesome. I have been following your tutorials as well and learned so much!! I actually ended up getting the original DX7 recently in addition to DX7 II FD and a couple of TX802's that I have had for quite a while.

    love your channel, had a TX81Z, but you inspired me to just get a TX7 ! there is something beautiful inside these machines - and you help unlock it. Respect to you and the engineers who made the units.

    The thing that keeps bringing me back to FM synthesis are: patches that respond like acoustic instruments.
    They don't always sound completely realistic, but they sound good and you can often get fresh sounding results from it. How much more can we get out of analog? It's all been done IMO.
    FM is unique in having that feeling that some amazing sounding patch that nobody has ever heard before is just a few adjustments away!

    for a complex, well built synth, it came with poor factory stock sounds. Just because you can build one doesn't give you the ability to program good organ and piano voices that were prominent at that time, New to "one step at a time" input. I ordered a plug in cartridges from Bo Tomlyn, Key Clique (sp?) Top 40 sounds. Pricey but worth it. the organ and piano were far superior. The piano rivaled my sampled piano. Any variation of electtric pianos were posible. I continued studying the manuel and came up with a nice solo fiddle (violin) with plenty of rosin on the bow. That being said, Its a good midi controller because the semi weighted keyboard had an exellent feel. Now I listen to you with intent to learn but sold it anyway back in the 80's😮😢. But keep it coming, Most step up to something new and not get to 50% of its potential. 😮❤

    If there are six in the algorithm, remove feedback, then you get a completely identical sound.

  • @Viiday
    @Viiday 4 года назад +1

    And I thought that interchangeable algorithms are those algorithms with which there will be exactly the same sound, with 4 groups of algorithms, an almost identical sound is obtained, due to a greater additive synthesis.

    do you think your dx7 has gotten old enough to have built its own character over time? Do you clean the insides out ever? Just curious

    Hello my friend. I’m trying to recreate the Bass 1 patch from DX7 on my DX21 or as possible as I can, because I can’t afford a DX7 here in my country. Do you have some tips or could give me a hand on creating a “similar” Bass 1 sound with 4 operators? Thanks ! Very nice work.

    • @fender1000100
      @fender1000100 2 года назад +1

      Can't be done on the old 4 ops DX synths. All the DX7 sounds can be produced on the MODERN REFACE DX synth. It allows for a bigger fuller sound because it uses feedback on all 4 ops. And and has onboard effects that can be saved within a patch. And this is a major gamechanger. To create patches that rival a 6 op FM synth

      @@fender1000100that's not true. Dx21 is perfect for bass.And no, the reface cannot replicate all the dx7sounds. 😂
