    I kind of get why FM is confusing, but then only if you didn't start with it. As a generally acoustic or non synth musician I just got FM8 and Dexed, Surge now, and they all do a hybrid approach as you said. Well, FM8 and Surge do. Mostly can blame a good friend of mine for getting me into this FM stuff. I do enjoy a warm saw and filters all over the place too, but really connect with the harsh glassiness and paint thinner quality that FM can give me. It's just so cool.
    Anyway great vid m8

    by modulating do you mean literally multiplying the two sine waves togethor, so if x=4, y = 5 on one sine wave, and if x=4, y=6, i would hear a sine wave at x=4 that would equal y=5*6=30?

    • @TheBlueAnt
      @TheBlueAnt 4 года назад

      no, modulating here means the frequency of the carrier (the wave you hear) is changed by the amplitude (volume) of the operator wave

    • @mabian69
      @mabian69 4 года назад

      @@TheBlueAnt you mean "is changed by the amplitude (volume) of the *modulator* wave", right?

    • @TheBlueAnt
      @TheBlueAnt 4 года назад

      mabian69 as far as i can tell the terms are interchangeable

    • @mabian69
      @mabian69 4 года назад

      @@TheBlueAnt Not sure: any operator can be a modulator, a carrier, or both, depending on the algorithm...

      mabian69 you might be right, ive run into a lot of inconsistencies in fm terminology

    Now it would be helpful if we could actually hear anything being played. For next time. :)
