Some just get so beaten down while trying so hard to rebuild yet every turn that they take ends up being a dead end. Even with support from loved ones, a person can only take so much before they end up just giving up, then ends up either back in a cell, or ends their life. It truly is sad how even second chance jobs like Wal-Mart wouldn't give everyone with a record a chance to work. In my mind every company should gove people a chance if the crime they are charged with has nothing to do with the job. If it's low level non violent stuff then they should be able to work at good paying jobs. There needs to be more better programs and companies out there that offer chances to ex cons especially those freshly released. Even on probation there needs to be more groups and companies to help them reintegrate back into society. Instead we are stuck with a system that would rather have them all go right back to a cell to keep beds full.
I would look at jobs at defense contractors if it was a nonviolent crime basically if it was something stupid you did and never reoffended. They spend the money to do a real background check. They want to know if they can trust someone. These big retail companies do a 5$ check. I don't know how much my background check costed but they interviewed my parents, grandparents, and several teachers I had in school and I had to take a polygraph. They also want to see if you are a liar. If you have a felony or misdemeanor and own up to it they are more likely to hire you than if you lie. I have heard about people with a class C misdemeanor getting denied for lying about it and they hired someone with a state jail felony. Lying is the kiss of death.
Give yourself the opportunity. I have a friend went out bought a lawnmower started small and now is doing great .you can make your own business if you want. Never depend on anyone to give you a career make your own .
I have 7 felonies in the past but I became a Security Officer and qorking my way up. My employer said it just depended on type of felony and length of time that had passed.
Why should someone who has done their time for a low level crime non violent be subjected to such scrutiny? This country needs to wake up and see who it’s throwing away... real human beings. I feel that it should actually be against the law to be able to discriminate against these people in the workforce, housing, student loans, etc! Are we trying to get people better or worse??? This country’s laws are ass backwards and primitive!
I'm saying people who commit big crimes do not belong in sensitive orientated occupations. People who did a little thing or two is better understood and are law abiding and living productive lives..
Man, this is the wrong thinking. This is the thinking pattern of a “victim”. Blaming others for the way YOUR life is. In my honest opinion, you can never tell the intentions of a person. It does not matter if you were convicted of something “small” or “large”. It’s perspective. What people fear is the mind behind the convicted. What didn’t you get caught for? What are your values? What do you do when no one is looking? Change your mind and then you change the minds of others. Keepin it real!!!
It’s good advice. Mistakes shouldn’t be your life definition when you work hard to be free from your past and become a better person. A condemning society isn’t the answer
Im a felony from 10 years ago with a charge of transportation of a controlled substance and i still cant get a job at walmart even after a great interview with references from fellow walmart workers even a supervisor and they called me back for job offer and to sign papers all there was left was to pass background check that i was sure i would pass since its been 10 years but i never heard from them again. Im a father of a 5 and 3 year old and completely changed my life but i cant seem to get a chance money is low n i go to bed hungry cuz i rather save food for my kids the struggle is real
I'm white and I do notice a difference I must admit my co-defendant was African-American and he is having a way harder time than me finding a job and we apply for the same jobs.
I went to school to get a trade in Diesel Equipment Technology (Diesel Mechanic). I am from Atlanta and I am a felon(multiple convictions). My professors stress constantly the fact that Diesel Technicians are in very high demand, can demand a strong starting salary, is very felon friendly. Oh, and did I forget to mention RECESSION PROOF! All of those trades you’ve mentioned including mine, you can go to school for in Georgia ABSOLUTELY FREE(as long as you don’t already have a degree)As a matter of fact, I’ve gotten grant money every semester ($3k to 4K) that I DONT have to pay back. I graduated December 7, 2019. I have my first interview on Monday. Great channel bro.
@Stacy Johnson Jr I never got a call back. I was a little over qualified for the job. They wanted trailer technician's. Trailer tech's jobs aren't really that complicated, unless you're repairing reefer systems (Big Bucks & in VERY high demand).I mainly have highway tractor experience. All of their tractor mechanic positions were recently filled. I was fine with not receiving a call back anyway. Although I was willing to get any kind of experience in the field, this particular employer completely lied and exaggerated the salary for which they posted online. They were offering $48K to $70K annually, depending on experience. When I got there, they offered me $16/Hr... Not even close to $48K Sir. $25/Hr. Is around $50K annually with 40 hour work weeks. I can count... Just a little bit. My phone has been ringing off the hook with employment opportunities since. They are SO THIRSTY for diesel mechanics. I love it. My professor's weren't lying I see. Sorry for the extremely late response by the way. I just had surgery 🤦🏾♂️.
DJ Apocalyptic I most definitely did bro. I’m currently working at a shop for a major carrier right now. The money’s cool, for a rookie starting salary ($21.00+\HR). I work 4, ten hour shifts a week, and get 3 days off... IF, I want them off. All the overtime I want. I’m in GA. It took me 18 months of study at my local community college to obtain my Diesel Equipment Technology Diploma. I graduated early. The program is originally 24 months long. You see, because I enrolled into day classes, I would be able to complete 6 months early. But, if I decided to take evening classes, It would take me 2 years to obtain my diploma. I had no Time to waste. I got a 3rd shift job, got off work @ 8 AM, drove straight to class. Had to make it work. I worked 6 to 7 days a week then, luckily class was only Monday thru Thursday. Here’s the REAL kicker... They paid ME to go to college, to study this profession. All grants, NO LOANS, I don’t have to pay them pack, I DONT HAVE STUDENT LOAN DEBT. Everybody state has a similar program like my state bro. The reason they are doing this, is because they need trained people in certain fields, to do these jobs , before there’s nobody else to do them. Every state will send you to school for free, for SOMETHING bro. You just have to do your homework, and find out what they are. 💯
I want to say thank you so much for experience, strength and hope. I have a violent offense and did 6 yrs at 22 my first time and it's been extremely hard getting work. I do have my cosmetology license and am currently attending classes at Columbus State for Social and Human Services (SAHS) to be a drug counselor. Although to get into that program, a background check will be performed again and I have to be off paper for one full year. I'm currently going for my CDL's to be a. COTA bus operator and the supervisor is giving the opportunity to interview with him this Wednesday 09/26/18 even though I have a vbg, its been just over 10 yrs since the offense and I'm currently on parole. Thank you for giving some jobs here in Ohio for felons especially ones like myself because I was giving up on Ohio altogether. Keep up the good work, you are appropriated.
Hey Yonna. I really appreciate the feedback and hope that your interview goes well. Send and email to Harley@comebackcollective.org and I will give you a free members account. This well give you access to online courses specifically for people with felonies like "How to Interview with a Felony" and "How to Build Your Credit". Members also get access to our private support community and live online events.
And, the same people that hold your past against you, are the one's that go to church and preach forgiveness. They're absolute angels for 1 hour every Sunday.
Good. You have a salary in mind. NOW, making that type of salary doing what? What field? What is your area of expertise? What is your vision for yourself?
What up dude, I just stumbled upon this video and I truly appreciate the time your taking to make these kind of videos. I just subscribed to your page.
Thanks Harley for sharing! Great advice! I do have to agree with finish on repeat below, it will some states are easier than others. Please keep posting, it does help.....
Every state has a different approach when dealing with backgrounds. Some states are easier to re-enter their communities than others. READ. Do your research. I too have a background and am moving forward with my own endeavors. It is possible to live a successful life after conviction. But it will not work until one takes responsibility and no longer blames others or makes excuses for why they are not successful.
Solid advice. I'm presently in the process of learning to write code. Only have a few credits left until I earn my associates from the local community college here in Pittsburgh. Who knows, maybe we can colab someday?
Regarding chef. I have worked in restaurants in Florida and over half the employees have criminal records. Half the managers have criminal records. My last boss and his boss both had multiple felony convictions and one of them earned $80k a year. Regarding cosmetology, in my county you need a cosmetology license to do that and you have to either have the hair license, make-up license or nails license and you can't get a professional license in the state if you have a felony conviction. So in Florida at least that is one job you have to knock off your list. Regarding skilled trades. Again you need a plumber's license to be a plumber or an electrician's license to be an electrician. You can't get those licenses if you have a felony conviction here. You are not banned from construction sites. You can do that but you won't ever be a licensed tradesman and that will limit your earning as you will always have to work under a licensed tradesman to ply your trade and under no circumstance can you ever enter a residence to effect a repair because that is banned by law. You can't obtain a social worker's license in my state if you have a criminal record and you certainly can't work with felons if you have a felony conviction your self because a condition of release is you can't associate with or knowingly be in the company of another felon. People have had to get divorced due to this. A husband and wife I knew were ordered to divorce by their parole officers because they were both convicted felons. Business management is a good one. I can attest to that one especially in restaurants. Drug counselor is is a no go in my state because again two felons can't associate with each other even if one is a drug counselor. Truck driver is a good one if the company will hire you. But if the load is valuable they might be hesitant. Programmer is good because you can do it from home and that means you don't necessarily have to limit yourself to employers in your own state. Dog grooming??? Landscaping? Um no. Landscapers usually make little more than minimum wage because you are competing with illegal aliens who often work under the table for less than minimum My landlord pays someone $5 an hour to do their landscaping.
Thank u for this video. I live in Columbus, Ohio and I have had a hard time finding a job. I have several degrees. I worked as a Nurse, Respiratory Therapist, Real Estate agent, Insurance agent, Marketing account Executive. The best job I have been able to get since being out is at Little Caesars. My fines have been overwhelming. My student loans have since went into default. I would love to help people overcome addiction like I have.
Hi Amanda. I'm glad you liked the video but sad to hear you are having a difficult time. I remember struggling for quit a while myself. What do you want to do for a living? Perhaps I could connect you with someone I know in the area.
Harley Blakeman I would love to help people that are struggling with addiction. I know that I can't go back to the medical field but I really enjoy helping other people. Its so hard when people return home to the same environment. I have learned some lessons the hard way and would just like to share my experiences and hopefully help someone not make the same mistakes. Thank you for being honest and speadng the word. We do recover and there is hope.
I don’t get to do anything with my life because everyone wants to cause me as much trauma as possible. I feel so miserable and hopeless having no control over my life... but not anxious.
I don't really use my real name or put my face on youtube but I'm gaining the nerve to make videos. What I'm going to do is make one for felons who have a chance. First, get your charge expunged or presidential pardon from the president. After that, my opinion is starting a business, like become a bailbondsman. Or probation officer, or corrections officer. Build up a reputation depending on the charge you can be a policeman but very hard. I prefer a bounty hunter than work for the city. I'm going to justice administration and online business. Plus I got a diploma in private investigations. It's not the end, felons are not bad people just dumb choices we made.
Land Surveyor is an excellent opportunity for ex-cons. One of the oldest professions in the country (some of the founding fathers were surveyors) and has tremendous earning potential.
So I keep hearing there's 10 million job openings in America since covid. In the last 3 months ive been denied 14 jobs because of my 7 yr old felony. Thank you for making this video
Thanks for the video. I know I’m on the right path with Business Administration. I’m on my second year. Also, hotel and hospitality hires felons. I’ve gotten jobs and job offers with no degree. You get in with a boutique hotel or resort. Massage therapy is another one. I know a guy making a great living that into some trouble.
Good video bud.maybe HVAC.I’m a felon and interested in CDL Training or plumbing, but I’ve heard I’m outta there on electrical and plumbing as there would be very few companies that would hire me I guess.struggling to get CDL TRAINING RIGHT NOW.Great video.
Basically, if you spend the time and money to invest in yourselves then the value you develop will out weigh your past. If you don’t want to spend the rest of your life being subjected to the opinions of others regarding your worth then you first must change your own mindset. Know your worth, build your skills, and be prepared to do the work. Would you like to hear more on this subject? As a convicted felon, I’ve managed to do all of the above and provide a great living for myself and my family. Drop me A comment if you’re interested in more. Good luck!!!
No, going to college is not something that I recommend. I recommend that an individual follow a few steps. Ask yourself: 1. What are my goals financially? What’s are my lifestyle goals and how much money will it take to make those a reality? 2. What skills do I currently possess? 3. What subjects interest me, taking note as to what my felony conviction would allow me to grow in? 4. What skills would I need to develop in order to monetize my passion or interests? In a nutshell, that’s where my mentality lies. Hope that added some insights.
Hi Jeff, I am currently 27 years old and I wish to become a police officer. Unfortunately when I was 19 I got convicted of felony vandalism as I was with friends who were spray painting a wall and I happened to be there.. it has been on my record ever since and I checked that even after getting it expunged there is no way I can become a police officer because it will always ‘re-appear’.. I really would like to make the world a better place and I have always wanted to become an officer. If you can please give me some advice or any insight on how I might be able to become an officer please please let me know it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.
You probably should have went 10 to 1, and the only career path I even think,is worth it for me is trades. If you can get steady work even as a laborer you can save up and learn a lot and end up starting own company for side work or if the work becomes steady become your own boss and make a lot of money in maybe shorter than 10 years you can,be making anywhere from 50000 to millions of dollars a year potentially.
There are some other factors that come into play with being a felon. I went and got a Class B CDL license and drove truck for a couple months and then chose to go to truck driving school for Class A License and got it but I had a hard time getting a job because a lot of companies don't want to hire felons. I applied to everywhere and realized that there are only a couple companies who might give you a chance and they have to be hiring in your area and if you live down south then it might be harder because its easier to find work up north for some reason. My felonies are almost 7 years old and I have had problems finding any job or company that will hire me. I am currently working in warehousing as a forklift driver but I am trying to get into a different field now. I have been looking for another driver position for Class B truck driving and it has not been working out. I have been to multiple interviews and have not had any luck. I think that there is just a lot of competition and you will get beat out every time by the guy with a little more experience or somebody with a clean record. They make it sound great but its really not that easy to find work starting out and the pay is not as good as it once was. I am just going to move on and try something else. Becoming a truck driver was a big waist of time for me. I wish anyone luck if they are interested in doing it because we need drivers and there is still some good opportunities out there. I am just frustrated with what happened to me. You will have problems because of background check requirements. You will also need to make sure your state laws don't prohibit against felons if you need a license or certification. Places like Walmart, Doordash, Uber, Amazon and Fedex will not hire you either. I am trying to go into the maritime industry because they might give me a chance and I could possibly make good money there. I have been working on getting into it for the past 5 months and should be close to starting. I will keep you posted and let you know what happens soon.
Something the government will not tell you when you are in the joint and definitely will not tell you when you get out is that if your criminal record started in your childhood and continues into your adulthood, you most likely qualify for a government check each month. Contact a social security lawyer.
I don't understand how this myth came about, the tech industry is extremely difficult to get into and background checks are extremely cheap. Pretty much everywhere I have ever applied had a background check. And there's so many applicants that have a clean record so you really have to be extraordinary, which is way easier said than done.
I am an ex felon. I got out in 1988 and never looked back. My most recent job lasted 5 years and was a kitchen manager for a McDonald's. I was paid $10.30 an hour. In the five years I worked there, I also applied with other restaurants. The only ones who would hire me were major fast food chains. I was informed by dozens of restaurants over the years that they will not ever hire a felon no matter what regardless of what their skill was or how long ago their crime took place. Chef? I doubt there is a restaurant in Florida (where I live) what would hire a chef who is an ex felon. Perhaps in other states but not here. Plus chef does not pay well enough to make a degree worth while. The standard qualifications are a bachelor's degree in culinary science, five years experience and pass a drug and background check. The average pay for a chef in my county (a coastal resort area) is around $12-$14 to start and will go as high as $18 for a head chef with 10+ years experience in all phases of full service restaurant food prep. Benefits are absolutely crap for any kind of restaurant work here. The few that offer healthcare benefits only offer "bronze" plans where you have a ludicrously high deductible (in my case $7000 a year) and then it only pays you 60% reimbursement but you have to pay the medical bills before they reimburse you and many things like prescriptions and cancer treatment are not covered. Don't ever expect sick leave or paid holidays and paid vacations. You can't cut hair without a cosmetology license and you cannot get a professional license in Florida if you have ever been convicted of a felony. So cosmetology is out. Most schools won't even let you enroll without first passing a background check and drug screening. Skilled trades are mostly out since almost all skilled trades require a license and again you can't get a professional license in Florida if you have a felony record. While some construction companies might hire you as a helper for $9-$12 an hour you won't be hired as a mason, electrician, plumber etc. and you can't work on any residential homes or many other kinds of construction. Most ex felons who work in any kind of construction trade work on road crews in the above pay range. No company will ever hire an ex felon to do any work in a residence because insurance companies won't give such companies insurance if they have felons working for them. Most such trades are in residential construction and that is out for the above reasons. I'm not sure how you got to be a manager with a felony conviction (assuming you have a felony conviction based on the topic of this video) 99% of all employers won't even hire a felon for janitor let alone manager. You absolutely cannot be a social worker with a felony conviction. You need a professional license to be a social worker and again you can't get one in most states if you have a felony record and most social workers are employed by government agencies and the government absolutely will not hire convicted felons for anything, not even groundskeeper let alone a position that works directly with the public. Business administration is an absolute no. As I said, 99% of employers will never hire a felon even for janitor but business administration? A company would lose it's liability insurance if it hired ex felons for any kind of an office job. I have a diploma in book keeping and I've been trying to get a job as an accounting clerk for almost 40 years and every last employer told me the same thing and that is in NH, MA, RI, CT and FL. Drug councilor maybe as an unpaid volunteer at a church charity but certainly not any sort of government agency or hospital for the same reason as social worker. You need a professional certificate and felons can't get those in Florida. Some truck driving jobs a felon can probably get. But if you are transporting anything particularly valuable they won't hire you in Florida. The driver who delivered our supplies to the McDonald's where I worked informed me that he was paid $12 an hour and that was an 18 wheel refrigerated truck. When I enquired about that job he said that the two biggest qualifications besides a CDL was pass a drug screening and a background check. Maybe the programmer job but only if you are doing it from home. Dog groomer if you don't mind working for $9 and hour and you can get that at McDonald's. And some places won't hire a felon because a dog groomer works with the public. Landscaping generally pays $9 an hour or even less as often you get paid by the job and you are competing with people who offer to mow a lawn for $10 and spend two hours doing it. You can't get a landscaper's license if you have a felony conviction so you have to work for a landscaping company. If you do you can't do residential lawns because your boss will lose their liability insurance if you do. Some companies will hire a felon to do landscaping for commercial properties but those are few and far between. Ohio might not be a great place for landscaping but unless you are young and very healthy you don't want to do that in Florida. Here most people who do landscaping are immigrants, and often illegal aliens and work for roughly half to 3/4 minimum wage. You certainly can't start your own company if you are a felon because felons can't get business licenses here. My comments above are based on my experience as an ex felon 1988-present in the states of NH, MA, RI, CT and FL with Florida being the worst by far. Unfortunately Florida is the least expensive place where I can find the warm climate I need for my health.
🎉Dont be extremely pessimistic like that. You understand that people with a record have to “hustle” to make a living & rise above their past mistakes. It takes proving yourself and making connections with people like yourself already in that will get your foot in the door now. You prove yourself, keep educating yourself, & eventually start your own business or organisation. You also join organisations to lobby in the state legislature for helping ex felons. Ban the box laws, changing occupational licensing laws, ect… You don’t just sit back & do nonthing!
If you can, apply with a Temp Agency.. Alot of Companies dont ask for background ck.. I know it's a temp job. But it could turn into more. Keep the faith. DONT GIVE UP!!! 🙂🤗😇😇😇
DragonMy BallzeezNo-GT for years? Man i would have gone crazy. You know you can get your CDL and be a truck driver. Get yourself a year of over the road experience and you can have a job that gets you home everyday. I'm telling you. You will NEVER be without a job. You can be hired within a week no matter where you apply
Before I got arrested I was making over $125,000 a year. After my plea deal with two felonies I make $19 an hour I can’t pay my bills. I went back to the job I had when I was younger. I’m grateful to have a job but I have to get back on top. I need to get back in sales and so far it’s hard as hell.
What type of sales were you in before? What about a more entry level sales position? I am a felon and trying to figure out what would be the best starting point for a career in sales
Thomas Wright I was in HVAC sales. I didn’t know anything before I started and they train and teach all you need to know. Most of the good places do background checks. Now I’m just trying to get any sales job that will pay me close to what I was making. I think working by the hour is a waste of time.
Billy Keathley I have a few drug related felony’s it’s been 4 years though. I always thought sales would be a more forgiving profession. Have you been turned down for anything outside of hvac sales
It has become extremely difficult to get a job as a felon except for part time work that will not even pay rent since the pandemic. Best bet is to look for local places that have hand written help wanted signs. Also a lot of felon friendly companies hire only recently released felons because of the tax incentives and the being on probation or parole will encourage them to be reliable and they won't have to promote. As far as trades go most states require a license to practice it that felons cannot get, some even for as basic stuff as cosmetics and dog grooming. Just 😔
It really depends on your felony you have. I have a violent felony and got my degree in culinary and cant get into kitchen to save my life. I know people with drug related felonies and they dont have quite the problem I have.
Exactly now this right here is spot on the truth! People don't realize that as a violent felony holder (unfortunately) myself I can vouch for this and being a woman isn't helping me any at all because people just assume you're going to come in their establishment and start trouble when they see violence.
@@soflo5214 I really believe it's based on the state you live in. Here in Michigan where I live at, they say they have the whole 7 year back ground check system, that's all a lie. I myself had to become my own boss, which was the best decision I have made career wise. But yes there are some places in food service where you can get a job. You are only going to be making minimum wage. But if you ever want to make it to the top as an executive chef or sous chef that is pretty near impossible.
Things they don't tell you is most skilled trades jobs background especially union shops. Also they don't tell you once you get on if you managed not to get background checked if your company had any decent accounts city, county, jails, schools,Google etc the contractor always makes the workers get background checked and boom now you can't work at that job site so now they don't have anywhere to send you. Or now they know you have a criminal record
ex felon and i have my cosmetology license. i have to get it renewed. I am thinking about going back to college for dental assistant but im not sure if they will hire me. im in florida.
I almost was a felon yesterday Bc of possession of drugs in schoo I was gonna go to jail Buh I didn’t they tried making a report Buh na anymore cuz they declined it I got lucky
It all depends what felony you have , I have a robbery charge , rob a drug dealer 1st offense did 8 years prison time age 16 charge as a adult , I have a weapon charge that the correction officer set me up with in prison another felony , I have assault on the 3rd degree a misdemeanor, I have dwi with wreckless driving , the wreckless driving they added because I failed probation by caching a assault charge in Yonkers so yea my life is pretty much fuck not yo mention that before I caught the assault charge I kept calling the cops for months and they wouldn’t help me they would laugh at me I had no choice so yea you do get treated like shit if you have a record
It’s not true that you can get a job with a record doing a trade! They do a background check I’m with someone who cannot get a job doing electrical work! Unless you just work for yourself
I'm sorry to hear that he is having trouble finding work. I run a second-chance employment platform (www.HonestJobs.co) and we have helped dozens of felons get trade skill jobs.
The irony is doing that without the license is a felony in most states, yet even if you pass the test and have a record they still won't give you a licence.
Cosmetology is a good idea but in PA they won't license you most of the time because they have a good character requirement and a DUI will even exclude you. So ridiculous!
I made a stupid comment on youtube back in 2011 as a joke. I'm 28 now but when I was 20 it turned into a federal offence. After going to counseling and mental institution, they found nothing wrong. I'm done with supervised release for three years and working on being a bail bondsman.
I have a question. I live in Dallas, I have been arrested for 2 felonies but later pleaded down to misdemeanors, does that show as felony or misdemeanor? Where would someone like me look for online or office jobs? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I am 28 almost 29. I just got denied by Rocket Mortgage because when I was 17 I pulled a fire alarm in Highschool. Granted yes it is a felony, but damn! Really? Anyway, Thank you for this. I've kind of been feeling a way since then, until seeing this
They don’t want to hire non violent felonies, and half the carpenters/plumbers/electricians won’t even give you a chance unless you already have 2 years of experience behind your belt, how do they expect a beginner to learn the trade?
i disagree a little with trades. the number 1 plumbing business in my home town wont hire me because i have a felony on my record for somthing i was at the wrong place at the wrong time. an yet i guarenteed theirs some conficted felons thier already workin tho.. also thompson hires felons
I worked at McDonald’s and Burger King and touch me you don’t need to be a chef all you do is heat up frozen hamburgers and food. I couldn’t even get a job as a wireless sales associate through market source at target because of my background check. I have a felony and a misdemeanor battery on my record from a year ago and two years ago. What I want to know about is what you’re supposed to say when they question you about your background check and ask for more information. Even though your not obligated to tell them, it’s still looks good if you say something. I’ve basically been trying to justify it and it hasn’t gotten me anywhere, the only jobs I’ve gotten were ones that didn’t do a background checks. They where in retail at Forever 21 & Bath & Body Works. This isn’t really helping me, sorry.
cooking Dont pay shyt...get a felony ....... and learn the hard way what he failed to mention is skilled trade ...make money ..but they will not put you on commerical work
This is why so many ex cons do more bad things because people make mistakes and get treated like shit for the rest of their life it’s so sad
that and the whole socio/psychopath thing. gets em every dang time!
That’s how the system is structured they don’t want it to be easy for us to change
It's made like that so they get back bnb in trouble so they go back to jail so the state can make money on them and judges and lawyers

What crimes did you commit in the past?
I have 7 felonies in the past but I became a Security Officer and qorking my way up. My employer said it just depended on type of felony and length of time that had passed.
Why should someone who has done their time for a low level crime non violent be subjected to such scrutiny? This country needs to wake up and see who it’s throwing away... real human beings.
I feel that it should actually be against the law to be able to discriminate against these people in the workforce, housing, student loans, etc!
Are we trying to get people better or worse???
This country’s laws are ass backwards and primitive!
The elites like to abuse the regular class. Plus the prison industrial complex is good money.
Sadly my brother
Keepin it real!!!
thank you. im sufferimg right because of our laws in sc. theyve messed up my driving record.

I most definitely did bro. 💯

Hi Jeff,
do you recommend going back to school?
No, going to college is not something that I recommend. I recommend that an individual follow a few steps.
Ask yourself:
@@Reallawnrescues, thanks for your time. I will consider all these points you have addressed. You seem like a cool dude, thanks for replying.
This is so helpful! thank you so much!
Something the government will not tell you when you are in the joint and definitely will not tell you when you get out is that if your criminal record started in your childhood and continues into your adulthood, you most likely qualify for a government check each month. Contact a social security lawyer.
Nice that someone cares
Are there any truck driving companies that hire recent felons?
I know a few felons that have CDL's and drive for a living. What city and state do you live in? I might be able to help.
Sheila Reyes yes try Cr England trucking. They will try to hire you
Keep it going champ !!
appreciate the video I'm a felon and I'll look into that
Yea, I would learn programming, a lot of tech companies use dont even do the background nor do they care.
I don't understand how this myth came about, the tech industry is extremely difficult to get into and background checks are extremely cheap. Pretty much everywhere I have ever applied had a background check. And there's so many applicants that have a clean record so you really have to be extraordinary, which is way easier said than done.
That is what U should do!!
Go for it!!
Yup that is probably the highest paid realistic job a felon would get hired for, but you got to have major proof of your skills.

People don't realize that as a violent felony holder (unfortunately) myself I can vouch for this and being a woman isn't helping me any at all because people just assume you're going to come in their establishment and start trouble when they see violence.

i have a felony and they hire me in FedEx ground , i didn't like it because i can't enter with my cellphone.

I’m at two time felon thanks for this video
good content and advise!
And for withdrawn charges with clean records as your 3rd party checks will come back not clear
In Missouri they actual teach the electrical trade in prison.
The irony is doing that without the license is a felony in most states, yet even if you pass the test and have a record they still won't give you a licence.
Cosmetology is a good idea but in PA they won't license you most of the time because they have a good character requirement and a DUI will even exclude you. So ridiculous!
Thank you man you are the 🐐
How do you get a license in the trades with a felony?
Hey, man, how can I talk to you personally?
Great video btw

Can a felon get in pornography?I got a mean back stroke but I got arm robbery on my record.
I made a stupid comment on youtube back in 2011 as a joke. I'm 28 now but when I was 20 it turned into a federal offence. After going to counseling and mental institution, they found nothing wrong. I'm done with supervised release for three years and working on being a bail bondsman.
I met a guy in prison with one arm. He was in there for strong arm robbery as well......
Blessings
As an actor or director, but not as an owner of a porn store in most states SMH 🙄
I have a question. I live in Dallas, I have been arrested for 2 felonies but later pleaded down to misdemeanors, does that show as felony or misdemeanor? Where would someone like me look for online or office jobs? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
U need to look up your record and see what it say... don’t ask RUclips go to the courts and get a print out
I am 28 almost 29.
A company called Aerotek is felon friendly and helps people with felons get jobs my ex has murder on his record and was always able to be employed.

U can’t get your record sealed as minor... u need to go down to the courts and look online and get actual advice
This isn’t really helping me, sorry.
psychology depending on your felony
