Getting a good job seems impossible with a criminal record?! It depends on the nature of the crime, how many charges you have on your record, and the type of good job you are looking for. Getting a good job in some areas like working as school teacher or a social worker may be difficult but getting a good job in the trades or in various jobs in an office setting where you are not responsible for other people may not be that difficult at all. It all depends.
Interviews go well do drug test then background check comes back with that's a no what do you do then? I have a 7 year conviction & 6 month will it come out on the background check?
Yes. Most companies will do background checks. Although it is extremely stressful, it's best to be honest and tell them at the end of the interview. You will likely face rejection but keep your head up and keep applying and interviewing. It's just a numbers game.
@@harleyblakeman7867 Yes, it's very nerve wracking. I work as a legal Administrative Assistant so its ironic that I'm in this situation. My boss is retiring soon (I've worked for him for 6 years) so I'm looking for something similar. Thank you for the advice. *Fingers crossed*
BOYCOTT COMPANIES THAT DO BACKGROUND CHECKS. IF A COMPANY REFUSES TO HIRE A CONVICTED FELON, THEN CONVICTED FELONS SHOULD REFUSE TO DO BUSINESS WITH THAT COMPANY. PLAIN AND SIMPLE.
You’re definitely one of the lucky ones. I have one non-violent misdemeanor and I have insurmountable problems finding a job. Glad you are successful.
If that misdemeanor involves anything to do with theft or drugs, then you are screwed
@@miguelrobb5719 it wasn’t drugs or theft.
Thank you for making videos on this topic. I’ve known several men with felonies that have had a rough time finding employment.
I messed up and got covered in gang tattoos. Seems like some of us will never stop paying for our past.
