This was a lot of fun to watch. I've heard Conan talk about comedy before, he's serious about it and that definitely comes through. My favorite parts, however, are when Conan lets his guard down a little bit and the conversation goes from something you might see on his show to a real conversation between two funny, successful comedy craftsmen. Taking out the audience and live recording creates a real intimate feel. This kind of conversation, in depth and more loose, is a real pleasure.
This is one of the best interviews I've seen in my life .. everything from comedy writing to Steve Martin to jim carrey and cable guy. Apatow is such an interesting guy
Truly the best, most insightful interview I have seen in a long time. I love it when it's just an intimate conversation about the person and their experiences. Thank you Conan. This made my day.
Holy shit. This is one of the most amazing discussions i've ever seen. Totally assumed it would just be another interview with a star about his films. It's intensely personal as well as informative and hilarious. Thanks for posting!
May 2022,.....loved this! Big fan of Conan's, but I ignored this whole series until beginning in April of 2022, when I ran out of other lighter weighted Conan enterprises. After 2 years of near isolation related to the Corona Virus, You Tube saved me from going completely insane.
24:05 I think i finally sympathize with comedians about their political correctness plight. Before, my answer to comedians who complain about PC culture was always, "Being political INCORRECT is a crutch. Find a smarter way to be funny." But I think I'm beginning to understand that it's not so much about the jokes themselves, but the creative process that needs to be able to say a million terrible things in order to find something we can all laugh about.
such an insightful interview. the part about "1/3 is my on life, 1/3 is observations, and 1/3 is making it up" -- very true about art in a lot of places. also, the whole thing about "is comedy a shield/protection as a way to express your feelings?"
I missed your NBC career, for whatever reason.. (sorry) But I found you online. Your Team-Cocos are SO GOOOD! what comedy USED to be... really, really funny! Thanks for the medicinal laughs! :D
I've been watching Conan clips for about 3 years now and I just discovered this jibber jabber thing what the hell thanks RUclips for the recommendation.
This is fascinating. I love to hear them talk about Airplane, also Conan discussing The Simpson's writing room. Just imagine being a fly on the wall there.
I liked that, it's a really fascinating way of doing things and felt more candid and interesting then usual. I obviously like Conan's regular comedy and stuff as well but this is a nice change of pace and I'd like to see more like this with different people being interviewed!
I love that Conan loves Adam West Batman! Adam West's Batman is the best. Judd and Conan talking about how Airplane! And Young Frankenstein! Those are two of my favorite movies.
What a great interview. I am obsessed with JA- a Long Island kid done good. And I loved that Conan was just being himself, not pandering like on his show (sorry Conan, you know what I mean).
I have watched you hosting late night shows since you started. You always made me laugh. I thought it was “intentional” to have a bit that seemed to fail so it would lead into the best “they’re turning on me” dead pan look and comebacks!!!The great J. Carson was great at this also. Such subtle and brilliant comedy. “Uncomfortably smooth”, but relatable to the many others that are tuning in. It’s like real human parody. I believe your individual “perfect style” from the beginning, was very underrated by the “powers that be” at different times, but not by the majority of viewers. You were a breath of fresh air then and now.
It's interesting how he talks about how Steve Martin influenced him and how it was seen as kind of nerdy back in the day. If you ever watch "Freaks and Geeks" there's an episode where the main character goes on a date with a popular girl, and I think it's "The Jerk" that they see. He's cracking up, and she just thinks it's stupid. His childhood clearly influenced how he wrote.
I think that Conan uses the "Being aware of the formula" and becomes self-aware/meta as a show having sometimes genius jokes/sketches that would only work in that format (Live, guest, audience) and takes advantage of this notion. Sure, its not everyday but it's not easy writing gold for so many shows (And they are always way above average funny at least), but sometimes we get genius and its so worth it. Here, we have another target and format, and as you say so thought-provoking. I enjoy both.
Wow, just wow. Honestly this really ruled. I actually like this better than much of Conan's new show. Please Conan do more of these! This is the kind of heartfelt and real type of interviews that talk-show's these days lack, but Podcasts thrive in!
what he said makes me think of this: “I've noticed that when people are joking they're usually dead serious, and when they're serious, they're usually pretty funny.” ― Jim Morrison
Great interview. I can definitely remember the comedy tsunami of Steve Martin in the late '70's. I remember being furious that my brother got to see The Jerk but I wasn't allowed because I was too young. I also loved This Is 40. It bewilders me that it was slammed by critics. I laughed all the way through it. I could definitely identify with portions of it.
Conan needs to make jibber-jabber into a podcast. I love this and would like to be able to listen to it while working out, driving my car, etc. TEAM COCO, PLEASE!
The first Apatow produced thing i watch was The Critic. I was probably 11 years old when it aired. I didn't know that at the time so when 40 year old virgin hit i when i was older i realized it was the same name and i got hooked on his movies. This Is 40 is probably my favorite.
I didn't know that about The Cable Guy. I've seen that movie easily 75-100 times. When I was a teenager me nad my friends would get stoned and watch that movie over and over! Hilarious
These talks are what I hoped the podcast would be. So many interviews are Conan riffing uncontrollably and not asking questions that we want to hear the answers to.
around @1:03:50 that's actually a pretty good pronunciation of the name Neslihan. Other Americans tend to ruin Turkish names. Is there anything you're not good at, Conan?

BRING BACK SERIOUS JIBBER-JABBER
Now he has a podcast...
His podcast Conan needs a friend is amazing
This is one of the best interviews I've seen in my life .. everything from comedy writing to Steve Martin to jim carrey and cable guy. Apatow is such an interesting guy
Karthik Nair 啊唉
I wonder if Judd will look at this "Apatow is such an interesting guy" and react the same way as Al Brooks ruclips.net/video/s4hUj75cS3E/видео.html
I know. Let's not take it for granted. Keep sharing it with your crew!
Truly the best, most insightful interview I have seen in a long time. I love it when it's just an intimate conversation about the person and their experiences. Thank you Conan. This made my day.

Please keep on doing these Conan, I like that you're stepping outside the normal format of your show.

1:04:04, "you know, I'm dead inside, like you"
woah, zero chill
24:05 I think i finally sympathize with comedians about their political correctness plight. Before, my answer to comedians who complain about PC culture was always, "Being political INCORRECT is a crutch. Find a smarter way to be funny."

Judd and Conan are just amazing.
If you kind of squint at the screen, it looks like Conan is just a floating head with disembodied hands.
hahah thank you
i like this comment a lot
Amazing observation, and a very accurate one at that
😂
I really hope there will be a lot more of these!
such an insightful interview. the part about "1/3 is my on life, 1/3 is observations, and 1/3 is making it up" -- very true about art in a lot of places.

I've been watching Conan clips for about 3 years now and I just discovered this jibber jabber thing what the hell thanks RUclips for the recommendation.
Conan will always be an inspiration to me.

Apatow should make the new Ghostbusters with his friends. Let's get real, it's the first, best option for a remake.
Brian Simerl lol
you're the worst prophet ever
Please do more of these!!
I love that Conan loves Adam West Batman! Adam West's Batman is the best. Judd and Conan talking about how Airplane! And Young Frankenstein! Those are two of my favorite movies.
Conan please do much more Jibber Jabber. This is truly a thought provoking and worth while show.
What a great interview. I am obsessed with JA- a Long Island kid done good. And I loved that Conan was just being himself, not pandering like on his show (sorry Conan, you know what I mean).
This was awesome! Thanks!
This was great, thought i wouldn't watch the entire thing but i did.Great interview and nice rapport.

I cannot believe Conan is older than Judd Apatow
Amazing stuff. I love intimate interviews like this.
12:07 A fantastic question for directors and writers... for people
Thank you very much for serious jibber jabber I hope you get to do more.
Would love more of this
This is amazing, great job Conan!
how did i not know conan was doing free podcasts?
It's interesting how he talks about how Steve Martin influenced him and how it was seen as kind of nerdy back in the day. Chris Campbell and the freaks and geeks episode about gym class and not getting a chance to prove they are better than the class thinks

I really love when Conan is more relaxed and more natural. It really makes the interview feel more real.
I ate knocked up, tasted like a bad movie.
Good stuff Conan. Yes comedians need to be recognized. The package the truth in so beautifully in our world of media PC, thought police and lies.
Wow, just wow. Honestly this really ruled. I actually like this better than much of Conan's new show. Please Conan do more of these! This is the kind of heartfelt and real type of interviews that talk-show's these days lack, but Podcasts thrive in!

I’ve never laughed harder at a movie theatre than Superbad. I was the perfect age for it and it was a truly amazing thing.
it was our animal house
Also, how the hell did Judd know about my loving to watch Conan every night, then taking a break, and then coming back and still loving it so much! D:
this interview was amazing
this is an awesome interview!!!! This needs Way more views!
Just watched this after too many years and, yes, you are absolutely needed. Keep doing. More beard, tho.
best hour of my life, thanks conan
Fantastic video, I would watch every one of these.
The cable guy is a hugely underrated a gem. That movie is amazing
Great interview! Keep them coming.
He needs this kind of show on a network to do regularly. Badly. It's so good!
that was a great interview
This is great! Conan is great at this format
there is no permanent award for comedy, comedy is a moving target. albert brookes
Ah! I have a hardback copy of Cruel Shoes! You each are so talented in your own way.
Conan needs to make jibber-jabber into a podcast. I love this and would like to be able to listen to it while working out, driving my car, etc. TEAM COCO, PLEASE!
You got your wish 10 years later.
i love these!!!
i'd be great to see more discussions about comedy.
i have had the privilege of meeting hank garrett several times and he is one of the nicest, funniest and most fun people i have ever met.
Can we get Louis CK on Serious Jibber Jabber?
Oh I would pay money to see him on this show with Conan post 2017! Conan would humiliate him
@@aprilschoening966 humiliate Louis CK? Why?
Great stuff. Love both of these guys and this format is perfect. More please. How about Chappelle?
The first Apatow produced thing i watch was The Critic. I was probably 11 years old when it aired. I didn't know that at the time so when 40 year old virgin hit i when i was older i realized it was the same name and i got hooked on his movies. This Is 40 is probably my favorite.
Great, great interview.
I loved this interview!
love this interview
It would be awesome if Conan would sit down with Norm Macdonald! :)
Amazing! seeing it on 2018, hopeful comedy writer here
I was still watching!! This was really good
i know, the thing is that he was one of the funniest ever. it surprise me that he wasn´t even mentioned
I love Judd Apatow's spot-on, unwavering love of comedy.
Conan will ALWAYS BE "NEEDED."
you made American Comedy closer to me. thanks
Love you both
I didn't know that about The Cable Guy. I've seen that movie easily 75-100 times. When I was a teenager me nad my friends would get stoned and watch that movie over and over! Hilarious
Loved this
This is my favorite of all the current Jibber-Jabbers. More Jibbin' and Jabbin' please.
14:38 Conan is so beautiful
I always thought Jim Carrey deserves a lifetime achievemet Oscar. He is like no other!
Still can't believe I met Judd. It was such an honor.
Weird to see Conan so serious. Very relatable video though and a lot of cool back history.
These talks are what I hoped the podcast would be. So many interviews are Conan riffing uncontrollably and not asking questions that we want to hear the answers to.
Funny People is on my top 10 list!
This is a great idea conan!
i enjoyed this very much
around @1:03:50 that's actually a pretty good pronunciation of the name Neslihan. Other Americans tend to ruin Turkish names. Is there anything you're not good at, Conan?
