I have to tell you what a blessing you recently were to me. Over four years ago I got into minimalism and we transformed our house. We sold it and moved into an RV. The clutter built up over time to the point that our couch and kitchen table (and everywhere really) were full of clutter. I was feeling hopeless of getting it cleared and then the other day I watched a couple of your videos. The next day I decided to do 5 minutes of clutter clearing. Mind you I hadn't slept well the night before and I was standing in the kitchen crying because of how tired I felt. But I did the five minutes which turned into 2 1/2 hours. We now have our couch and kitchen table back! It was both a blessing from God and from you. Praise God and God bless you and your family, Dawn. ~Sharon

Wow! I needed this video. My sister works for an ins company & if your house burns down they have you inventory everything you lost in the fire. I can't imagine writing down 300,000 items. Also, the other morning (about 3 a.m.) I couldn't sleep & I thought if I only had 1 hour to grab everything that meant the most to me what would I grab? That was very eye opening to me also. I was amazed at what popped into my mind. It wasn't much of anything. Then I thought I should get rid of everything else. Thank you Dawn for making these thought provoking videos. ;0)

I found the free e book you are showing here from The Minimalists...looks intriguing! I will try to read it. Although I really prefer watching your videos, as you have a very simple way of describing the tips and you show examples of what you are talking about through your great (and probably very time-consuming) editing. I learn so well from you!
It's been almost 3 months since we purged over 40%, put 20% into "Quarantine" (which NOBODY has missed!) and I now have such a useable "work environment" (aka my kitchen) and the freedom I am experiencing by how little time it takes to clean is such a gift...THANK YOU!!

"The stuff taunting us." Yes! I'm beginning to recognize that some things are not just space hogs, they're a psychic drain on my spirit. It's not a matter of letting go, as if I am the one clutching THEM, it's a matter of liberating myself from their hold on ME.

YOU, my friend have become such an inspiration and motivation and a life changer for me! For YEARS I’ve struggled with severe anxiety and everyday stress. I never wanted to go the medication route as I am more into trying other things first before medication. I’ve struggled with the stress of managing so many things in my house and clutter and just unnecessary things. Buying things we don’t need just for immediate pleasure and joy but then never using it again or rarely using it. Since finding your channel I have simplified my home so much it has made such a TREMENDOUS difference in my life!! I still have some things to work on and continuing progressing, however the amount of change I’ve made so far has made such a difference. To you, I say THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! I have 2 Children who I can now spend more time and energy with. You’ll never know how much all of your info has helped me!

I have to say, I did a pantry declutter and reorganization and every item that went back in my pantry got written down on an inventory sheet (with expiration date) . It really helped having to write every single thing down because it made me think twice about how much I really wanted to keep some things. It took a while to do it all but it was so worth it. The phrase "inventory you have to manage" really came to the forefront while doing that.

LOL! on keeping the bundt cake pan! Reminds me of when I donated our springform pan for making cheesecake. I still feel guilty about it, AND I'm so glad I did it anyway. I never once wanted to make a cheesecake in the last 20 years, and now I tend to avoid desserts. I think it is funny that I can feel so relieved and so guilty at the same time.

And again a very good video that gives me hope and puts me in the right mindset to declutter. I got rid of guild stuff already, but the one day I will need it stuff is a tricky one. Because I can’t look into the future, then again, we are ‘creatures of habit’ as you say and I should face up to that.
Therefore I should certainly get rid of a lot of my hobbie stuff. I’ve done so already, but not enough. Covid gave me a lot of spare time (the only good side effect of this terrible time) so I noticed that I had no excuse not to be creative. I couldnt use all the stuff I had with even so much time on my hands. That was an eye opener for me and a little shocking. The -one day I will have time to make this or that- is a myth! Thank you for putting all this good advise out there! 🙏🏻❤️

I started following you last year around the beginning of being on lockdown and I was so completely stressed and already suffered from anxiety. During the summer I think I would say I decluttered almost 50% of our things in our little house. I can’t explain the weight I felt come off my shoulders and the decrease in anxiety attacks. I removed so many of the things I thought where keeping me “happy” for example these floating shelves I loaded up with meaningless decor I struggled with removing them because my husband made them but instead we made a beautiful accent wall with shiplap and the clutter is gone not collecting dust! It is truly so freeing! Thank you so much for your videos I honestly feel like each one points out something in my life as if it were made for me. It’s practical minimalism that I can do. And personally I think I could declutter another 50% easily.

    Thanks Dawn,
You are a lifesaver. I have two weeks off from work to clean my house because I'm tired of the big same mess that I've lived in since I was a child. Whenever I start it's so overwhelming because I have worked long hours for years and things accumulate that way and editing hasn't happened because there's little time or energy left at the end of the work days. Then when I have the energy, as you well know the last thing I want to do is sit home and go through history. However all I have to do is put on one of your videos and your bright attitude and clear strategies just got me to clean my first area. Thank you so much for what you contribute, it is more help than you know. 🙏🏼

Thank you so much for your videos! I have just started my decluttering journey and you have inspired me so much! I watch your videos when I need to tackle an area of the house to motivate me and it’s like you are decluttering with me. 😁 I love the inventory thought and although I wouldn’t actually write it all down, I think it brings up great questions to ask ourselves as we go through a space. Honestly, I think that if 80%-90% of our things spontaneously combusted, it would be a relief. There are a few things we treasure and/or use every day, but the rest we hope to “clearance.” The more I get rid of stuff the more peaceful life is and the whole family can feel it and I love that! ❤️

Mine’s not quite ready for yo u to come over 😂😂 but I’m on the journey and that makes me feel soooo happy. I take it slow and steady. Being overly sentimental is tough. Ever since recently subscribing to your channel, I've been on a mission to declutter and clean out. It has been spiritually cleansing to remove the added stress of "managing" those items. It allows one to focus on the things that truly matter-family and memories. Not things that distract you away. I literally could remove almost more than half my items and still feel great. Your combustible comment was a great analogy to what purpose an item serves to us. Great channel Dawn from your WI neighbor.

Thank you for this video! It’s so timely. I’ve been getting so stressed by our small house feeling SO cluttered. I need to attack every room. My “someday” column would be way too full. We’ve been renovating our small home for a few years now, and have started building an addition. It’s happening, just VERY sloooooowly, as we are doing all the work ourselves and paying for it as we go. I’ve had decor, building materials, and furniture, lamps, etc in “storage” for so long. We’ve never been closer to our projects being done, but realistically, it’s probably another year out before it’s completed. But I cannot keep waiting for someday. It’s definitely robbing me from today. I look forward to more tips in the future. 👍🏼
