I dont know if this is because of feedback from others, but I really appreciate how the live action segments in this video aren't as drawn out or awkward as they were before. They're edited quick and snappy and don't break up the pace of the videos now, which is a welcome change
I figured it was just to be funny the first time or two, since those scenes were more about sharing stuff about himself since that's new. I figure his future videos like this one will focus more on the video subject
I think those problems are overall a good thing since it means he sees live segments as being more than "saying the same thing I was going to say except on camera now". They're a different element with a different potential and a bit of early sloppiness is the price of seeking it out.
thats another example of not having the foresight to see how their equipment is being used, and also how stubborn they were when they rereleased the controllers or created the switch lite and they all had the exact same issue
No the biggest mistake with joycon drift was that they didn't patch it even though they knew it for 2 years and they could've just patched it out and then didn't listen and then patched it out a few weeks ago
@@SilverThyme Well, you cant exactly send out a patch for a hardware mistake. That’s like downloading a fix after you broke your keyboard; it doesn’t work. And I’m not saying that Joycon drift isn’t a problem, it definitely is, I’m just saying that no patch could help.
I find it a bit Ironic how they have sometimes listened in the past with games like Twilight Princess and Majora's Mask. People wanted a more realistic Zelda game after the cartoony art style of Wind Waker, and they got it. People didn't like how Majora's Mask was structured (when the game first came out), and the games that followed stuck much closer to Ocarina of Time's formula.
From what I've heard from industry insiders, the culture behind game development is very different in Japan. Japanese developers stick FIRMLY to their creative vision. They ignore what the market wants. Sometimes this is a good thing, like how they reject microtransactions and day one DLC. Sometimes it's bad, like how they reject the competitive scene and good online service.
@@chamtheman551 Technically they had one in TTYD with the Fuzzy you needed to beat to get a certain rock thing to progress. But other than that, Nintendo has been mostly ignoring Fuzzy even exists.
@@anastasis2586 I can't afford a switch. (TL;DR: PCs aren't just toys, PCs aren't expensive, Switch games are expensive) Many people have computers for other purposes, like browsing, school, work, art, music, etc. When you buy a PC you're also buying a tool, admittedly one not everyone uses as such, but a tool none the less. Comparing PCs and Switches as gaming machines is flawed because of this. I'm not sure where the idea that PCs are super expensive comes from, as I've seen laptops that I thought would crash run Minecraft at 30 FPS. Not up to modern Gamer(tm) standards*, but these were low low range laptops. To justify buying a gaming console I should buy a handful of games, which in the case of the Switch quickly costs more than the console itself. I still think the Switch is a great console, but it's just less for the money than a PC, depending on your use. The Switch excells at portable gaming. It's pretty much THE portable console. *(I run at low FPS even on decent hardware, since I often break games for fun ^^, so I'm used to sloooow fps)

All of these mistakes have one thing in common, in my eyes. They were all corporate. All of these mistakes took place either before the WII era, which was when it started to fall from the popular mainstream, or during the hieght/aftermath of it, where the highest up decided that four years of success was enough to bring back the nineties. Bottom line, Iwata saved this company with the WII, but when he did, he also caused its downfall. And after he died, rather than replacing him with another visionary, they replaced him with another corporate entity. Bottom line, Nintendo is no longer what it was, and to continue to succeed successfully they need to accept that and stop pretending that they are. Rant over
@@Metroid4ever maybe so, but they’re a billionaire dollar company, it would take a lot to hurt them. The Wii U time was bad, but the company was in no danger at all
These are not normal corporate choices, or at least I'm concerned if that's the case. Nintendo consistently shoots themselves in the foot and makes choices anti-thetical to generating revenue. Successful corporations usually end franchices that don't generate the expected revenue, even some cult classics. Nintendo has much more personality than other big evil corporations.

However, don't you think that Melee having a strong community after almost 2 decades should be something that celebrated by Nintendo? There aren't many games with such standing power like that. Disregarding the legal side of things, what does Nintendo lose out on when fans of their game (that's no longer in production, and yet they still try to crack down on emulation despite giving us no way to legally purchase the game from them) run online tournaments during a pandemic using LEGAL software to make their game playable online? The fact that one guy was able to create an online service that works better than Nintendo's own paid service for their out of production game should be a testament to how much the community cares about their game. People forget that Sony tried to thrown Nintendo under the bus, the deal was bad for Nintendo, from Wikipedia "Under their agreement, Sony would develop and retain control over the Super Disc format, with Nintendo thus effectively ceding a large amount of control of software licensing to Sony. Further, Sony would also be the sole benefactor of licensing related to music and movies software that it had been aggressively pursuing as a secondary application, Sony was the sole provider of the audio chip, the S-SMP, used in the SNES and required developers to pay for an expensive development tool from Sony." which is why they went with Philips In the end both companies tried to take advantage of the other and the conclusion was that Sony would have entered the gaming business regardless of what happened, if anything the only mistake was doing business with Philips in the first place
I think thats less of a mistake and much better since now that nintendo is messing up we at least have something else good and major to move to that isnt xbox
@Oscar Nova-Eguizabal The xbox was a move by microsoft to counter the PlayStation since it was making a lot of money. If there had never been a PlayStation, then maybe there would be no xbox.
How is Mario Run that different from any other F2P game on mobile? Or on any platform? I'm not saying they couldn't do better, just that F2P on mobile is always tricky to manage. It mostly boils down to putting in ads, putting in microtransactions, or losing money
@@Kahadi Well, a good mobile game it's Geometry Dash (at least if you forget about the updates thingies for a bit) You have the paid game, with +20 official levels and virtually infinite community levels, also with the option of making your very own levels yourself. If you don't wanna pay for it, you have Geometry Dash Lite for free, it contains +half of the official levels, so you can test the game before buying it, but without access to online. If you want to test online for free to see if your mobile can handle it, you have Geometry Dash World. You can play other small official levels, but u can also play 1 featured/epic rate level made by the community, not only one, but a new one everyday (and those are choosen by RobTop himself, so you know you'll find quality) And if you think Geometry Dash Lite it's a bit old compared to the actual game, RobTop releases small games like SubZero before releasing a big update, so you can test the features for free. I don't wanna sound like a super fan or anything, but mobile market it's pretty underestimated. ^^
Which is good?? Free to plat games suck, mario run was so much better but people shit on it because they couldn't understand for some reason that mobile games cost money too and aren't just free garbage, so we got mario kart tour. Which i mean isn't bad really, i just really liked the mario run approach better
You have already mengtioned modding, but not to mengtion their stance and handling of non-profit fan games. Also the stagnation of the pokémon franchise. As Nintendo owns between 33 and 50 % of the pokémon company and their decicions are just do much more important than that of the developers and players themselves. All about merchandice. Quite similar to the problem that you pointed out with paper mario, but caused very much by the structure of the franchise and company.
Also why i really wish Xbox could become a more popular console, as their community management and respect for their players and customers is just the greatest of the three.
TPC just like Nintendo doesn’t care about their player’s feedback.Ever since they announced that half of the Pokémon couldn’t be in Sw/Sh they nearly ignored the BringBackNationalDex movement, they added 200 pokemons through DLC but we still miss more then 200 pokemons.I thought it was game freaks’s or The Pokemon Company’s fault but apparently Nintendo too in general can be arrogant and incompetent.Nintendo really need a purge, fire the idiots, hire people with passion for their game and not only for the money.

My biggest problem with nintendo is that they innovate when they have a great formula, (Cough, 3d mario, cough), but they KEEP the systems that completely bomb!
@Walther Penne you can innovate without throwing away what was so good before. Odyssey did this pretty well, and it used the sandbox style of previous games
Oh Nintendo, having to deal with the competition,Sony,Microsoft, and themselves, also they tried to get rare, and it’s technically Microsoft’s fault that rare is basically dead
There's actually a fog defender spray scuba divers use on their masks while under water that actually does help with the build of of steam on the glasses.
The spray (defog, as it's called) goes on the scuba mask that you look through, and this person is saying to put it on the glasses, not to defog the mask over your mouth lmao
You can always just mold the wire thing tight though, i kind of get why people are saying that masks give them fog. But its only when you apply it incorrectly.
Nintendo is one of the most pretentious gaming companies out there. I LOVE their games but they absolutely think their way is the ONLY way things should be enjoyed. They work so hard to prevent people from doing cool things with their properties, and it blows my mind about how, time and again, they hurt themselves by harming their image with their most avid fans. From the rampant C&Ds to patching out mechanics that people genuinely enjoy in certain games that truly do not impact the regular way the game is played (such as the icicle global ground), they constantly show that they're just ludicrously set on forcing people to enjoy their properties "the right way". I watched a video a couple days ago that detailed how Rosalina wasn't going to have a background story in Super Mario Galaxy, but one of the developers kept insisting on it. Shigeru Miyamoto kept trying to say he didn't want story elements in his game, but they managed to get Rosalina's backstory in, and now she's one of their most beloved characters. The whole "I know better than you" shtick extends even to their own developers...
Actually it extendes only to miyamoto, and that's an extreme example. Also nintendo literally has the legal right to prevent people from doing stuff like modding the game, and in case they can't prevent it they have every right to take action against them
@@Mqstodon Nintendo themselves lost a court case against Game Genie about modding; mods are legal, especially the pure mechanics kind like what Slippi's doing.
@@Mqstodon The *only* thing Nintendo can legally take action against is people pirating their games (this also includes piracy of modded versions of the games). The mods aren't illegal. Distributing mods isn't illegal. Applying the mods isn't illegal. Modifying your system to allow you to apply the mods isn't illegal. You bought something, that means it's yours, and you're allowed to alter it in any way you want. Sure, they can definitely try to prevent you from doing so by making these things as hard as they can make them. But if you find a way to do it anyway, they can't sue you for it. They can't even sue you for telling people how to do it. They can only sue you for pirating games. Oh, that's also the main reason they cancelled the smash tournament, most likely. It's not because it's using a mod. It's because it'd require people to play Super Smash Bros. Melee on a PC, which requires emulation, and it requires an ISO for the game. They took down the tournament because they were afraid it'd encourage people to illegally download a Melee ISO onto their PC. It's funny how Nintendo is perhaps the most concerned about piracy of all game developers, yet they're doing virtually *nothing* to allow people to play their legacy content. The virtual console was doing great, despite being rather limited, and now they've stopped even that in favor of a subscription service with an even more lackluster lineup of games. The first step to discouraging piracy is to give people the option to purchase games legitimately.
The clampdown on trying to tell deeper stories and introduce more complex characters in Mario games is utterly baffling to me. Playing through Origami King you get the impression that Int Sys would love to tell a deeper story, but was probably stymied by execs. In some twisted, boomer-logic sorta sense I get Nintendo's initial snobbery towards indies and their fear that mods will hurt their IPs, but I can't think of any reason why Nintendo would look at the colorful beloved original characters and complex plots of the early Mario RPGs and decide to put arbitrary limitations on who and what future games could use. My hope is that the clever workarounds in TOK both embolden Int Sys and relax Nintendo when it comes time for the next Paper Mario game, but it's hard to be optimistic these days.
@@cromanticheer Int Sys has completely confirmed in interviews that they *definitely* want to tell a deeper story, but Nintendo doesn't allow them any creativity with Mario characters. They were barely even allowed to give the Toads costumes, and giving a name to a Bob-omb was absolutely off-limits (they worked around this by giving it a nickname, which was seen as something completely different for some reason). BUT that's just about the story. The lead producer's questionable design philosophies seem to be most of what's hurting the gameplay. It's strange how they think they can't innovate without changing the core formula, while IntSys themselves also have Fire Emblem, their most succesful franchise, where almost every entry innovates in some way, yet the core formula arguably is the same in most if not all FE games.
Further on Mistake 5, I hate their outlook on glitches in their games. My experience of it has been through Mario Maker. People had a ton of fun messing with the game with glitches and making super cool stuff happen. Nintendo saw that and patched out all the glitches, deleted the levels, and banned the level creators.
The problem with Mario maker (1) is that it's online, and has a mode where you need to get through a bunch of levels in a limited amount of lives to earn a reward. As such the introduction of glitches really breaks that, as someone who is unaware of the glitches could have a run ruined by being unable to beat any levels through no fault of his own, barring him from earning the rewards. This is the primary reason to change the glitches, as well as glitches that straight up break the game and can crash the game, ones that may be able to get pushed into the online so that unsuspecting players may have their game crash when they play a level. Its simply a different situation than other games, even if playing the glitches on your own may be fun, for someone unaware it may ruin the experience. How they handled it in 2 is certainly better, since the levels are kept even when the level editor can no longer recreate it after the update. which also means that people can still play the glitches without it interfering too much. Any other instances of glitches seem to be entirely up to the developer and vary wildly, so I wouldn't even say its a consistent problem with Nintendo, just with certain developers and that extends to the whole industry.
To help with the glasses problem: So what I do is I just twist the little ear strap thingies so that the hot air just comes out of the side of the mask. Hope that helped! Great video, as always.
Okay so I really think you nailed this video, the facecam appearance aren't useless, they serve a purpose and there isn't too much humor, I think you struck the balance this time

He's being the example that no Nintendo exec will ever listen to. Feedback matters. (Although I personally didn't dislike the overuse of the live footage gags, I saw a lot of comments from people who were not enjoying it. Then again, I could kinda tell he was setting up for moments like in this video where he'd respond to being told to dial it back.)
It seems like the root of the problem is Nintendo does not listen to their fans and community, they are way behind on online functionality and they are way too protective of their IPs and consoles

I think the real problem with drift is that there's no solution right now for a small joystick that doesn't get drift eventually

Many people have computers for other purposes, like browsing, school, work, art, music, etc.

Rant over

The fact that one guy was able to create an online service that works better than Nintendo's own paid service for their out of production game should be a testament to how much the community cares about their game. Further, Sony would also be the sole benefactor of licensing related to music and movies software that it had been aggressively pursuing as a secondary application, Sony was the sole provider of the audio chip, the S-SMP, used in the SNES and required developers to pay for an expensive development tool from Sony." which is why they went with Philips

@@Kahadi Well, a good mobile game it's Geometry Dash (at least if you forget about the updates thingies for a bit)

If you don't wanna pay for it, you have Geometry Dash Lite for free, it contains +half of the official levels, so you can test the game before buying it, but without access to online.
If you want to test online for free to see if your mobile can handle it, you have Geometry Dash World. You can play other small official levels, but u can also play 1 featured/epic rate level made by the community, not only one, but a new one everyday (and those are choosen by RobTop himself, so you know you'll find quality)
And if you think Geometry Dash Lite it's a bit old compared to the actual game, RobTop releases small games like SubZero before releasing a big update, so you can test the features for free.

Let’s not forget they canceled a splatoon tournament for showing support for the cancelled melee tournament
This new era of Good Audio Ceave vs Face Ceave is fascinating and I'm all for it
Further on Mistake 5, I hate their outlook on glitches in their games. My experience of it has been through Mario Maker. People had a ton of fun messing with the game with glitches and making super cool stuff happen. Nintendo saw that and patched out all the glitches, deleted the levels, and banned the level creators.
Funny you mention that, Ceave has an entire video on that topic alone.
I understand why they patched the glitches, but banning the creators went too far.
Thats just being a bunch of salty assholes, really.
Great video, as always.
that's unsanitary
HAARG PERSON So is breathing in carbon dioxide constantly.
I tuck the top of the mask under the nosepads of my glasses and breathe slightly downwards. Never get fog.
Isnt that rendering the mask useless
I want Ceave to rate his kitchen appliances, that would be a great video.
Okay so I really think you nailed this video, the facecam appearance aren't useless, they serve a purpose and there isn't too much humor, I think you struck the balance this time
As soon as you mentioned Mario party, I knew you had to talk about gloves.
To me they shouldn't give gloves
When he said "Let's do this" I'm not used to seeing his face so it was cool to see him say the words lol
Ceave, I just wanna say that I am really not feeling good at the moment, but your videos always make me feel... secure. The melodies you use, your voice, you Storytelling, it really brightens my day.
Thank you
Generic sentimental comment. I don’t know what’s real anymore
@@vanKarsie well sucks for you, I never wrote a comment like this before, I know that they’re generic but that doesn’t change how grateful I am for this video rn
Just keep you mouth shut if you haven’t anything nice to say
RE: glasses fog - place a band aid over the nose bridge and it will reduce the fog!
And look like a Scorbunny, yeah, sure
21:45 So true! I wear glasses and that happens to me too when I wear masks unless I put them farther away from my eyes. It's so sad.😭😭😭😭
lol same
As someone who wears glasses I understand.
me three
Have you tried the trick with the bandaid? IDK how convenient it is for every day life
"Mini game island"
I litteraly bled over my N64 controller for this one. Like, litteraly.
Appreciate how you seemed to have dialed down on the face cam gags. Your transition to those bits were much better paced here than in the previous videos and were kept at a decent length.
This is the first time I saw ceave. He lookin like a snack ngl
Simp 😷
I agree though!
Tbf he's fair cute
It seems like the root of the problem is Nintendo does not listen to their fans and community, they are way behind on online functionality and they are way too protective of their IPs and consoles
Thank you for at least mentioning how Nintendo created Sony/playstation. I feel like that was the beginning of the end for them.
