I asked Ren if I could send his music to a friend of mine who came into my life when I was 9yo, Juma Sultan Juma was Jimi Hendrix's percussionist. He just turned 81 the other day and hes still making music.. After I saw Hi Ren a couple weeks ago which mentioned Jimi Hendrix, I saw more of his talent and all he can do, the things he writes about which is connecting people on so many levels regarding mental health awareness and more, and his gratitude for the support in return, It kept reminding me of what Juma would always say when he talked about Jimi. He told me Jimi hated being called the greatest. Everyone around him knew he was, of course but they ust let him make music. That was all he wanted. If music could travel through generations within only a few people a century, I would almost swear whatever the greats had before us, Ren has. Ren was excited and said he played Jimi Hendrix records over and over to learn the guitar better when he was first learning. So I stated that message to Juma right away and I don't think I've ever worked so hard to try to arrange a Playlist in my life!! 😂 I wasn't about to throw The Hunger as #1 or anything like that. I did have to tell him it's been called a "Rabbit Hole," and other quirky names. I also ave him all the information with links to all of Rens sites, so he's not going in blind. He's aware of the mood and style of each video as well. There's a live performance of their band that's almost 1.5.hrs long I just saw today that is pretty good I'll probably send him too. These videos just keep popping up. 😂 I'm super excited to see what Jumas response is to his music!!
Romain Axisa is an amazing guitarist and Ren’s housemate for over six years. They confirmed they never ever argue or have domestic issues, they’re great friends. Romain’s also a great singer and I love it when he sings in French like in Bongo Bong (with Ren and Gorran from the Big Push), or French Song (with Ren). Hopefully you react to their LiveNation performance from their bedroom during lockdown. It’s 25 minutes of pure joy ❤
Good call, I was going to suggest that one too, I love everything about that video, it makes me want to be sitting on a rooftop somewhere, anywhere, on a breezy summer night, drinking wine and listening to amazing live music with some close friends.

Ren is like a cat in the sun, he is able to find the most acoustically sunny spot in the room. Those echos!
Going from the Marley track into the Marley Jr track you can tell they've done before.... but I reckon this was an on-the-fly decision by Ren to go for rapping the Dead Prez lyrics over their Road to Zion instrumental. I'm guessing that Ren is one of those frighteningly-high-IQ guys (particularly where music is concerned) who likes to drop interesting challenges in-the-moment to keep himself from getting bored!! Well done to the other lads, picking up on what he was going for - the crowd likely had no clue they're watching an unrehearsed (& thus walking something of a tightrope) performance for the last third of this. If I had witnessed this live, I'd have given them £20 for their CD instead of the £10 they're asking, while I hand out congratulatory pats on the back to the guys playing bass, drums, & guitar for keeping up with the snap decision from Ren. LOL :)
Respect if that’s a Rush shirt you’re rocking. Regardless I love seeing you discover all this guy does. Even the people he surrounds himself with are crazy fire.

Please keep the videos for Ren and friends coming! (And rest assured I'll still be following and checking out videos about other music/other topics, when you decide to branch out.)

But the video has live and behind-the-scenes clips from many different Ren and Sam performances from the summer of 2018. I actually hadn't seen this one, so I'm glad I went digging!) Have fun!
It was so wonderful to watch and listen to your reaction here. I lack the knowledge and vocabulary that you do but, this is ,using that you feel in your soul. You described it so well. There are so many other REN songs that you would love... chalk outlines live.... ocean with Eden Nash, crutch, I love Genesis, losing it, the hunger. His talent knows no bounds when you realise he writes and produces all of his music, including the beats on his rap songs like sick boi and illest of our time. ❤. Have just looked on your list a d you already did Most of these 😂😂
"Their ability to change speed, tempo, time signature.... is second to none?" Uttering those words whilst wearing a Rush shirt could get you killed in some parts of Canada. Well; maybe not killed - but someone may push you and not say sorry. Hyperbole is a fickle mistress, eh.
You - Wearing a RUSH shirt and pause to talk about changing time signatures and go with...U2? LOL Just messing with ya. I love your insight and reactions. BTW a Big Push deep cut that might be up your alley. The Guns of Brixton by the clash. ❤
Also, I have no clue why I didn't say Rush first with that shirt haha! I just sorta picked the biggest song that the most people would know off the top of my head with a very distinguishable time signature change hahaha. Big whiff on my part hahahaha
Just discovered your reactions Walterooski! Big Ren fan here from the UK..you should try out one of his band’s original songs ‘Watch Out’ (The Big Push) I’m sure you’d love it..big love from across the pond 💙
Yep there goes the tuning fork 😂 I love how much they compliment each other and Ren just has to do a little hand movement or nod and they all know to change it up. So clever 🖤

@@walterooski hey bud - as you've hinted at, we're both professionals who want to live life creatively and deeply. I followed you because I'm here for it, so feel free to message me. I do videography, photography, and I'm a govie. From an auditory standpoint your overall mix is pretty good, but your total gain is low. I'd do a self-test on non-headphone speakers to get the gist for tv, computer, and pads

Walter could you please do Ren's "Crutch" Its older. He made it BEFORE he had his stem cell transplant and he was in a lot of pain with no answers. Its a heartbreaking one but its one of my favorites. Also I hope you get to "Heretic' Its also older but top tier. I notice he uses the word "heretic" in other later work so he must connect with the concept.

I don’t think you should give all the credit for the transitions (or arrangement as such). The Big Push is a band with very accomplished musicians , I think they all have significant input. Their ability is obvious when you check out their solo stuff.
Watching these guys, it's clear to me that they ALL carry their weight which is why I'm so excited. Chemistry among a group of virtuosos is impossible to miss and the transitions don't go the way they do if even one fella is off. You're absolutely right, they all have significant input and their ability is obvious. That being said, I'm excited to check out their solo stuff haha
I feel like Romaine blends B.B King, Eric Clapton, and Joe Satriani to get a whole new personal sound and vibe. Lot of nods and respect to the inspirations, before burning through riffs all his own.
❤

"Ren and Sam Tompkins - Blind Eyed (live)" on the "Ren" channel (busking in May 2018)
"Ren Ft. Sam Tompkins - Blind Eyed (Live)" on the "Ren" channel (same audio as the previous, I think, perhaps with the mix polished up a bit. But the video has live and behind-the-scenes clips from many different Ren and Sam performances from the summer of 2018. I actually hadn't seen this one, so I'm glad I went digging!)
Have fun!
@@serendipitish MC sessions gets my vote Walter
I prefer MC Sessions too, but followed by Angry Car Park Attendant (as a chaser). 😂
Terrific reaction!
"this is a Ren-dition" .... i am so stealing that my dude! thanks for sharing and much love to you and yours.
You - Wearing a RUSH shirt and pause to talk about changing time signatures and go with...U2? LOL Just messing with ya. I love your insight and reactions. BTW a Big Push deep cut that might be up your alley. The Guns of Brixton by the clash. ❤
I've literally got the perfect tshirt for that video too haha
Also, I have no clue why I didn't say Rush first with that shirt haha! I just sorta picked the biggest song that the most people would know off the top of my head with a very distinguishable time signature change hahaha. Big whiff on my part hahahaha
I figured you went with a more main stream reference. All good man!
Great Marley reaction and thanks for the U2 shout!
Just discovered your reactions Walterooski! Big Ren fan here from the UK..you should try out one of his band’s original songs ‘Watch Out’ (The Big Push) I’m sure you’d love it..big love from across the pond 💙
Welcome to the Rooskis, my friend! I’ll be reacting to every Ren and TBP content I can!
@@walterooski thanks fella..just subscribed..look forward to more reactions 👌🏻
Yep there goes the tuning fork 😂 I love how much they compliment each other and Ren just has to do a little hand movement or nod and they all know to change it up. So clever 🖤
My favourite!
I ran across a video of Ren and Sam Tompkins improvising around Stevie Wonder. You will love this one too. Here is a link to it: ruclips.net/video/BeAcqsvo7Q8/видео.html Enjoy!
Yeah man when I saw that reaction and you had a Joy Division tee on and now mentioning Exodus, fair play mate you definitely have great musical taste
Wate until you see BONGO BONG , OR REN doing a Jam Session with Liv Sangster, Fuckin hell mate it will blow your Mind .😮really you have to watch.
What's up, brother! I went back in time and knocked that out for ya! ruclips.net/video/J7GnjLetY4g/видео.html
Manu Chao - Bongo Bong
ruclips.net/video/J7GnjLetY4g/видео.html This is your fault haha
@@walterooski I was so happy to see you experience that performance. They’re something special.
I’m not 3 minutes in and already love your reaction!
Nice one 😁
Great mash up!
🔥🔥
It was a “Ren”dition. Love it.
absolutely loving your reactions man. If I could offer a humble and polite request, if you could turn up your overall video gain, that would be super helpful! for context, I have my iMac up to about 80% max volume and its still quite low (track volume). Thanks man :)
This was easily the most helpful comment from an outsider looking in at my volume. Thanks a ton!
I just clicked on I heard you say nas but it was actually Dead Prez ( wait, was Nas in Dead Prez? Anyway, Dead Prez is the group that did HipHop) back to the reaction ❤
Nas was in Road to Zion!
@@walterooski ooooh! Ok ty 😁😁😘
Can I ask you make your screen bigger for future reactions, after all the enthusiasm you bring adds to the overall experience.
I really love your vibe... I don't often subscribe to reaction youtube nor do I often watch reaction videos multiple times.... It's a shame that I can only like the video once🤟
Okay, look, I don’t know how to handle such wonderful compliments. I’m so honored to have been with your time and your sub! Thanks a ton for making me feel good about being myself 🖖
Also, WELCOME TO THE ROOSKIS! BANG!
Loved this! My favourite Big push performance is probably Bongo bong, would love to see your reaction on that one. Or maybe How to be me with Chinchilla or a less known live session Ren & Liv Sansgster (live) ruclips.net/video/DNCOCyYBP48/видео.html - that’s just amazing, for what I’ve understood it’s an improvised jamming session.
That girl wearing red pants seriously needs some rhythm 🤣i don't think I've ever someone less coordinated 😱🤣
Пока что твои реакции на Рена самые интересные ) thanks a lot )
I'm honored, my friend!
Hiya Erica, Crutch is beautiful but wow it hurts.
@@eddiebirdie1545 yeah it really hits hard.
I am absolutely in loveee with romains music!!
It literally touches my soul
I so love ren too
But Romain is just something special!!
Here is a small playlist of him that is my calm ❤

Liked for the video subbed for the shirt
I don’t think you should give all the credit for the transitions (or arrangement as such). The Big Push is a band with very accomplished musicians , I think they all have significant input. Their ability is obvious when you check out their solo stuff.
Watching these guys, it's clear to me that they ALL carry their weight which is why I'm so excited. Chemistry among a group of virtuosos is impossible to miss and the transitions don't go the way they do if even one fella is off. You're absolutely right, they all have significant input and their ability is obvious. That being said, I'm excited to check out their solo stuff haha
And hey, I appreciate you taking the time, my friend.
I feel like Romaine blends B.B King, Eric Clapton, and Joe Satriani to get a whole new personal sound and vibe. Lot of nods and respect to the inspirations, before burning through riffs all his own.
Pearls clutched
❤❤❤❤
gREAT REVIEW bROTHER.
music volume even higher please Walter

Please do right here right now retake by ren
