      NO-BAKE COOKIES (MICROWAVE)
      2 c. sugar
      1/4 lb. (1 stick) butter
      1/2 c. cocoa
      1/2 c. milk
      3 c. quick cooking oatmeal
1 c. coconut or peanut butter
In 2-quart casserole, combine sugar and cocoa. Stir in milk, then add butter, cut into pieces. Cook on high for 3 minutes, uncovered, or until boiling. Stir, then cook 3 minutes on high, stirring every minute. Add oatmeal and coconut (or peanut butter or enough of both to measure 1 cup). Cook on high 1 minute. Drop by spoonfuls onto wax paper to harden.
If it is a warm or humid day, or you're in a hurry, they may need to be refrigerated to harden.

As a kid, these cookies were dubbed "black cookies" because my bro and I couldn't really say no-bake cookies or fudge quickies! We just called them black cookies and the name stuck.
Our recipe was slightly different and they always ended up being perfect when we made them!
We'd use 2 cups of granulated sugar and then we'd use a heaping 3/4 cup (almost a full cup! Sometimes we'd actually use a full cup pretty much lol!) of peanut butter (crunchy or creamy is okay!). We also always used quick oats, not just any old oats. Quick oats are just softer and tend to soak in the mixture a little bit. Any other types are fine, too, but I suppose it's my personal preference. :)
We only boiled the mixture for 1 minute - not 2 - then immediately remove it from the heat and add in the salt, vanilla, and pb... then when the peanut butter is *somewhat* melted, but not all the way, add in those quick oats. It cools in a few minutes with our version and always winds up a much less runny consistency when you're dropping them onto parchment or aluminum foil!
Either way you do it, I will always treasure black cookies! My mom passed away in 2020 and I will never forget that recipe.

Saran (plastic) wrap also works to drop the cookies onto. I think when I was a kid we mostly used saran wrap or foil... but these days I tend to use parchment/wax paper. Whatever works, y'know?
