Lovely job, I've just ordered this kit today (after getting jealous of the Haslab razor crest) and looking forward to building and painting it! QQ - I've never messed around with LEDs, do you have a video on the set-up or how to set them up in general, assuming it's not a bought lighting kit?
I don’t unfortunately, I only really know the basics on lighting. Though there is tons of videos on YT showing how to install LED’s to models. That’s how I learned it mate :)
John, you used Alumaluster right? Then you said you hadnt clear coated it before weathering which was after masking the markings....masking tape ruins the Alumaluster so hiw did you get round that?
@@johnsimmonsscalemodelling5270 Just my 2 cents, I think paint takes a lot longer than people think to cure 100%. Sure it's dry in a few hours or days, but I normally wait weeks in between some coats of paint, espcially the metallics and I have never had issues with tape or anything affecting the base coats.
@@johnsimmonsscalemodelling5270 Yea I redone my ET dome with it, after spraying, you buff it as there is a thin dust layer. If you tape it before buffing then the tape may just peel up the dust layer not really affecting the alumaluster, but i found it didnt take it up completely, but removed a certain amount changing its look. Out of interest, after base coating, how long did you apply masking tape?
@@johnsimmonsscalemodelling5270 John, I've twice posted an email address but it disappears, so I'm guessing a RUclips algorithm is deleting it. Thanks for the offer, anyway, but as there's no private messaging on RUclips, there's no other way of giving an email address to you.
Does clear coat react badly with the silver metallic paint you used? I've tried using metallic paint before; looked great initially then gets wrecked by any clear coat you put on. Any recommendations?
Looking fabulous!
Nice work.

Really appreciate the comment thanks
Amazing work John!! You always inspire me to try techniques that improve the model kits that I'm working on, and they are much better now, thank you!!
Wow thanks for that!
Looks great. I could watch de-masking for hours.
Like pimple popping videos!? Ha
Nice work, thanks for putting the video series together. Some great ideas and tips there. I'll have to get mine out of the stash and make a start! 👍🍻
Thanks for that mate! Yeah have fun
Amazing work
Thank you sir

Must have been lucky mate? I used low tack tape…..I didn’t actually know that masking tape ruins the Alumaluster lol

Good job,can I ask where did you buy this kit,I looked in the US and cant find it,thanks
Unfortunately it’s not out in the US
Looking really good! I've scoured the internet but can't find those nice reference pictures you have there. Can you throw any hints my way?
I’m sure they are screen shots from the episodes
I’ll send them to you. What’s your email?

@@johnsimmonsscalemodelling5270 Thanks, man! I'll see you there.
Just to check, are you using oils over a lacquer based paint? And brushing with turps ? Great job
You know I’m not sure what the Alumaluster is? I clean it out of the airbrush with Celulose thinners
Great work, how come you didn’t use the same weathering methods on the hull as you did on the engines and top section?
Thanks, I did use oils on the top and engines just didn’t film it :)
Great. What kind of base is that?
Thanks! 10mm thick acrylic
Using a pencil eraser or a big eraser soft works a lot better to remove the masking without damaging the paint
👍🏼

Yeah exactly, I’m sure if used properly it won’t effect the metallics, I just didn’t want to run the risk of that
Just a comment
for the algorithm
