- Actor Alexander Siddig joins us in the red chair. Born in Sudan and raised in the U.K., Alexander played Dr. Julian Bashir on 'Star Trek: Deep Space Nine' and starred in the critically acclaimed Canadian film 'Cairo Time' opposite Patricia Clarkson. His latest film 'Inescapable' is by the same director, and it looks at the complex situation in Syria. It opened at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Being a Star Trek fan, I know about Alexander Siddig because he played the character I felt the most connections with on Star Trek: DS9, Dr. Julian Bashir. I find his background interesting, being part Arab with a "very Arabic name" but culturally being raised British.

He's had a successful acting career post DS9. Probably more so than any other cast member.

Colm went on to do Stargate Atlantis for a bit, and Hell on Wheels.
Rene Auberjonois had a considerable career before and after, but I always knew him as Mr. House in Fallout New Vegas.
Armin went on to do a lot of voice work, including the Salarian Councilor in Mass Effect, and the legendary Andrew Ryan in Bioshock.
But, yeah, as for the rest, they kinda fell off the radar. Seems to happen a lot to Star Trek actors. Unless they were big already, they kind of just fade away. Shame, too.

He was so great on 24 but they wiped him out WAAAAAY too early. Also really great in syriana, but I would just love to see more of him as an older Doctor Bashir.

Allow me to correct you friend, Sudan`s Arabs lives in the center and north of Sudan, they are originally Arabic tribes migrated from the Arabic peninsula and mixed with natives of those area, that`s why they are black, the Nubians are different but a lot of inter-tribal marriages and blending make it difficult to separate currently.
