I lost 110lbs and did it while doing CF, and I've maintained it for about 4 years for now. It's not complicated, its just difficult. Whenever people make it complicated (AFTERBURN) they're trying to sell something.

I to have learned that using the one you like that makes it easiest to stay consistent while being in a caloric deficit will remove body fat and improve bio markers. Lost a 100 lbs in 4 years using low carb/ calorie deficit diets! Time to start spreading the message again.

Another thing you can add: CF is lots of fast twitch fibers and lots of glycolysis. This is incredibly INefficient from an energy standpoint - lots of calories are released as heat and not consumed by work. That's GOOD for weight loss. Nice vid, needs more DeCoons

You do need to follow the diet, but that doesn’t mean that “afterburn” isn’t a real thing. Your body recovering from a high intensity workout DOES require more calories post-workout (how long is debatable) than base level metabolic rate, plus the increased muscle mass and changed hormonal profile.

I have an overall healthy diet, I do CrossFit four sometimes five days a week, when I first started Crossfit eight years ago I was strict Paleo, after a couple years though I just got burned out from it and it made me scared to even eat pizza or even a burger every now and then, I never even wanted to go out to eat with friends because I was scared to have a drink or two because of the diet. Ever since I was little that I had eating problems and eating disorders that I had to seek counseling for. Several years went by and I noticed that I plateaued with my strength, my endurance was good but I wasn’t fueling my body with necessary carbs that I was restricting myself from. So now I don’t restrict myself from a cheat meal every week, nor am I scared of gluten and bread and alcohol. I don’t have an over eating problem so I don’t really see a point in being strict on the dieting and calorie counting unless to lose excess weight.

Lost 30 lbs starting CrossFit January 2, 2023 and ran it all year 4-5 times a week minimum. It was very hard but took body fat from 29% to 16% and gained 11 lbs of lean muscle. I completely transformed my body at 40 years old (male). However, none of that would have been possible without my sustainable meal plan throughout the year and I quit drinking alcohol. What’s actually crazy is that I let loose on sugar cookies the last two weeks of the year (Christmas rules!) for a “treat” and I immediately started suffering in the workouts, ha. So without diet and nutrition (sustainable diet!!!!) you won’t see nearly the benefits. High protein, low-ish carbs but good carbs of potatoes/sweet potatoes/rice/veggies….protein of salmon/tilapia/tuna/black beans/chicken/lean red meat. It’s not difficult. Then was the alcohol…..quitting alcohol allowed me to sleep to better, feel better better, and go ballistic during workouts and feel great about it. Even if you can limit alcohol to a “few”, no more than 4 units a week you’d be better off. I cut it out completely because I wanted to maximize everything I was doing in the gym (effort, gains, protein synth, metabolism, sleep, well being, never hungover, always clear minded, present).. But without CrossFit + Sustainable meal program + no alcohol….I wouldn’t’ have been able to do it. So this year, 2024, I’m pulling back on the CrossFit to 1-2 times a week, if that, and aggressively weightlifting because I just don’t think being a bunny on crack (that’s how I explain CrossFit) is necessary once you get the weight off. It’s very necessary at first, and incredible fun, but once you get to where you want to be you can maintain it and not go all out every single day. Good luck!

I think talking Calories In Calories Out is not very helpful to people. Of course CICO is true, but how does someone truly measure the amount of calories they are consuming? Nutrition labels allow for a margin of error by 20% in either direction. How does someone truly measure the amount of calories they are burning? Both calories in and calories out is total guess work and not very helpful to someone trying to lose weight. It would be more helpful if we told them eat as much as you want, just make it fat and protein, no sugar, and exercise.

Julie Foucher did Fran while they did a metabolic analysis and talked about how high intensity (not from fran but from a 20-30 minute session) led to increased fat burn in the hours following (with a lot of other important factors playing a role). They can get away with eating some "junk" here and there to get in calories. There's a huge difference between those people and "normal" people. Normal people aren't training 2-3x per day. You also can't look at the number on the scale as the end all be all. CrossFit should add muscle and muscle weighs more than fat and also has so many other benefits as you mentioned. Sometimes you reach a point where you're not losing "weight" but it's not necessarily a bad thing because you're putting on muscle and actually "look" better! People need to stop making this so complicated and making excuses because at the end of they day that' what it amounts to.

Love your stuff Batman. I do not think it’s as simple as calories in calories out, I do think that eating according to Coach Glassman’s 100 words is just as important, perhaps more important. I don’t think about calories at all. I do live by the 100 words though, it seems to work really great for me :-) keep up your voice, you are speaking for a lot of us.

If you wanted to make a video about losing fat - why didn't you just make that instead of using the opportunity to make direct personal attacks against someone? Almost like you just wanted to make those attacks with a veil of good intentions...

Some of the unhealthiest eaters that I have seen, are in a Crossfit box. Lots of sugar, processed foods, protein, fillers, tons of carbohydrates. If you want to lose body fat, you decrease sugar and you decrease carbohydrates. These two things stimulate insulin and insulin is the enemy. Insulin is our fat storage hormone. This is a metabolic and hormonal problem and not a calorie burning problem. Fix the metabolic problem i.e. insulin, problem solved Crossfit can preach nutrition until we are blue in the face, so very few people follow proper nutrition.

Hate to break it to you. But protein also stimulates insulin secretion. Carbs aren’t the enemy. Don’t spread misinformation

@@jordanadcock7338 protein has insulin stimulation. Absolutely but nowhere near carbohydrates. Not misinformation. Veggies are carbs and ok. Berries are carbs and ok. Bread, pastas, noodles, rice, potatoes, starches are carbs that are literally causing obesity before our eyes. Insulin is the enemy. To clarify, I did not say carbs are the enemy, though most carbs release the enemy (insulin).

Dude you are delusional, according to you , unless you are on some low carb diet you won’t lose weight and build muscle . I won’t comment on cross fit and how most people have terrible form when it comes to Olympic lifting or weightlifting, but I’m not here to bash your beloved sport .
It’s all about moderation and yes you can surprise surprise drink at the weekend and still lose weight . Or god forbid eat pizza . Actually cycling calories, having high carb days on training days it’s not the worst thing ever, if I lift heavy I always go for super carby meals, because I need that short term energy . It’s all about how you eat , when and how you train . Beth has her own reasons , also she is recovering from ed , I would agree that telling people to eat everything is wrong in big quantities, but your advice is no better 😅

@@hillerfit I’m not denying that , but having treat meals or carbs doesn’t mean you won’t lose weight. Also it depends on your body type . Tbf I don’t agree with you and Beth 😅 . Having a pizza on Friday it’s not gonna stop your weight loss if the pizza it’s only on Friday . It’s ok if you want to eat only meat diet if this works well for you , but to say that’s the only way ! Anyway I didn’t expect a reply . Take care 😉 sorry I was a bit rude , I just get a bit annoyed at everyone trying to say what’s the right way here !
