09:30 The HAVBERG chair's sitting surfaces are made from genuine top grain leather. They also have fabric options available too.

Incredible! Not only did you present some really cool & realistic pairing options, but you gave us a system to think through the value of our purchases. Other RUclipsrs focus largely on the value and the aesthetics, and rarely if ever talk about the comfort, durability, and utility. I also tend to think about purchases in isolation, so it was cool to watch you choose items batched by style and design.
Agree
Let me know you favourite and how you'd rate these options below!
(Also! In case you're one of the keen eyed people who have been wondering about the mess of cables behind me - this was filmed while my PC was getting diagnosed in the shop. Turns out both of my 2 RAM sticks had died! Expect everything to be back to impeccable order in the next one. 😉)
Thanks for making videos gearing towards Ikea furniture design as it helps many people around the world appreciate various aesthetic and also be able to afford it.
small note but I find the music a bit loud compared to your voice. Perhaps that's something you can keep in mind for future videos
Hey Pieter! Thanks for the feedback! Were there any moments in particular or was it throughout?
This. And I have to add that crumbleing paper background is really pulling my focus or attention grabbing, not in a good way.
@@DanielTitchenerOn my phone, I find the music is really faded in the background. I wonder if this depends on where one listens.
I’m watching this on my phone. I agree with the OP. The music is bit too loud. :) Great video nevertheless :) thank you
Not loud on my iPad 😀
I think using the sofabed from the last one with the rest of the room the first one is the best combo
Great I liked all the options you presented. Will you follow up with a bedroom series? That's where I struggle. Where do people store their clothes... my small closet is for hanging 3 suits and coats that you wouldn't fold....
What a great topic!! Please do more of these pairing furniture videos. So inspirational
I love all your options but I will use option 5 for our new converted garage into a small living space! Thank you!
I think I like option 2 the best though I would change a few things. Love the storage underneath but would love the look of the VIMLE sofa with the more narrow armrests and I would switch out the chair for the EKENÄSET just because I love the look of that one :)
This video is absolutely AWESOME!
Thank you for it. I`m in the progress of furniture my living room, and I really see how I can use your tips
I liked different aspects of the different design options. For me i love the minimalist modern style as a base and making it more compfy with japandi elements like the natural materials.
The Landskrona sofa is actually real, not synthetic leather I believe. (It says "Through dyed grain leather from cattle, with a treated, embossed and pigmented surface" on their website.)
Great video Daniel, I have really been loving this way of combining furniture ever since I first heard you mention it, matching without being matchy-matchy. The sofa is my biggest problem when having a cat because my current sofa is low enough that the cat can't get under and scratch buuut all her toys get stuck under haha
Super helpful thank you!
A wonderful video. So helpful. I loved option 1 the most. The mid century one was also cool. My least favourite was the soderhamn pairing. It was interesting to see the whole process. Look forward to more of these pairing videos. Thank you. :)
Thanks. Great composition. I like option 1.
Such a nice and quick guide on how to mix and match witouth getting too matchy matchy👍
option 1 is my favorite
Great video - love this content!
Can you do one with dining tables?!!
Hi Daniel!
i got a question about a video you did a few years back the one with the bed that you transformed to have more storage.
Did you by any chance drill the woods into the wall or just drilled them into to drawers?
Thank youuu
How about backsalen sofa?
Which living room table would you add to option 1? Do you think the Tofteryd is the best option?
Hi Daniel. I'm saving up for a small condo or townhouse in the future since housing is so expensive. I would love to hire you or an architect like you to help me get the most function out of my future small place, but that might be a few years from now.
I mixed the linanäs in an off white and the vedbo. One shorter back vedbo and one with a taller back in the darker gray. What do you think?
I have the blue applaryd 3 seater and looking for a comfy chair which goes with it, can you suggest something
How can a sofa with a low back like that be the comfy option?
Loving these videos
No Kivik? 🤔
The first one ❤
In this video you glorify a light coloured sofa for making a spacious look, only to damn it in another video for cleaning problem. Nice to see how architects contradict themselves so easily :)
You did a good job pairing the IKEA pieces in a complementary way; however, as a female I find the overall displays quite masculine. For that reason I would be depressed living in such settings. Have you ever considered the female perspective in home design and decor?
10:59 this is so disgusting. You really should have stopped after the first option. That was good.
Seriously. JÄTTEBO sofa is horrible. Can't lean back properly because of the low back, made even worse by the long seat.
Good grief!!! What is the obsession with Ikea. Junk furniture only.
It caters to those who may not come from a position of privilege
all opinions on aesthetics and style are subjective of course but i personaly couldnt imagine a more boring looking space than No.1 , its really lacking in color, intrest or anything else really 🤷 why pick everything in gray....ikea has many more interesting colors and textile options. Just my personal opnion (of course).
one of these days Daniel is just gonna move to Sweden to fully embrace the IKEA furniture
its concerning that you commented without even watching the whole video
@@nafthalene I speedran it - the nymane lamp is definitely a good pick when trying to soften up lighting
As a swede I really like hearing your pronunciation of the names getting better for each video, I'm impressed at how well you pronounced "Vittsjö" at 10:05
He still says eye-key-uh though.
@@veganmatry Yeah true but that makes sense though. That's how his target audience is used to hearing it and how it's known internationally. And the names of the products doesn't have that
Could you do a video on furnishing a small outdoor area such as a balcony or patio? I'd love to have your input on this as an inspiration for the upcoming summer. I love your videos and your design style!
Was thinking the exact same thing. Gotten some great inspiration and ended up buying quite a few of the products Daniel has mentioned in previous videos when I furnished a condo for holiday/weekend use, and turned out great! Haven’t gotten around to furnishing the balcony yet so would greatly appreciate some sound advice.
Hey, small critique but this isn't showing us how to pair furniture (which i would have enjoyed more), but is showing us items that pair well in your opinion. So, I would have appreciated if you switched the segments around; showing us how to do it ourselves first and then briefly showing us these combinations.
Fair point! I was trying to explain the reasoning behind why certain items pair well throughout, but I can see how it may have been overshadowed. Thanks for the feedback!
A masterclass of how can you can do a 17min video and keep your audience interested the whole way through. Great job Daniel, I'm a massive fan.
the applaryd has very bad reviews, durability appears to be minimal, fabric pills, legs creak, it doesn’t sound like a keeper to me.
Hi, my name is Gabriel von Schinckel and I’m contacting you because I simultaneously need your help, but also think I could offer you a cool video Idea.
There are a lot of storytelling elements to my story but the short version of the story is that my girlfriend left me (I burnt out and had to quit my semester project) and I was left scrambling trying to find new roommates for my apartment. As the only applicant I could find wound up to be 2 people instead of one (It’s a 3 local apartment) I decided out of money reasons to convert the bigger room (a 4x4 meter square) into a hybrid living room and my room at the same time.
Now I am 21 year old architecture student and look up to a lot of videos that you made trying to get inspiration to redesign my room, since I do not have experience with interior design.
As I watched your latest video I thought to myself, hey, it would be a cool video Idea if you help me turn my design ideas (even changing them, I am a very flexible human being) into furniture I can buy and set up ( I am quite good at making diy furniture as well) so almost anything is possible.
As much as my media presence, I do myself produce content, even if for the Swiss national Radio, so I know how to talk to a camera, I even can send you a video or whatever your hart desires.
I have a complete detailed 3d model of the room in rhino as well as a brief of all the stuff I own and a brief to my core principles of design, so you might be able to understand where I come from and what type of person I am. (drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ndJ_uLaWsZX8Smhc4hWi9lV9xzgXQIyb?usp=share_link&fbclid=PAAabsyfCYryCj_9ozVGG0nwc2I3tUQzCrvbW9oIzHNL2Uy0TRx3i21qaQEik)
I am probably up to do anything to make this thing reality as long as I hear back from you in the next 2 days.
In the meantime thank you even if you just took the 3 minutes to read this letter.

That sounds cool, I hope he gets back to you.
I would help you, but there is a reason to why I'm watching this video 😅
@@ticavalco8610 fingers crossed

Great video. Would love to see a similar take for a "reading corner" - 2 comfy chairs/chaiselounges, a coffee table, a lamp, and a bookshelf .
I thoroughly enjoyed this video, Daniel!! I'd love to see it become a mini series and expanded to the bedroom and dining room next 😍😊
Yes! I need all the inspiration I can get.
@@richheruk same here!! 😊
I love this video idea!!! Please do more videos like this in the future. I struggle combining furniture with each other, so this was very helpfull!
Appreciate the explanations behind your thinking behind your design choices!
One small note but I felt like the moving crumpled paper background was really distracting and hurt my eyes. Maybe a suggestion would be to keep a static background for the next video?
Great video as always!
The day bed would work well in a home office setup as it's dose not look that comfortable for lounging around but be a extra sleep in a home office for people visiting
I never thought I would write this: I didn't like any of the options XD which is unusual in your videos as they always have a lot of good ideas 🙃after first three I was like "I don't like it because all of them are beige and I hat beige in interiors", so I was curious when you talked about more colors and eclectic for next one - and it was fine until that carpet 🤣 the last one was ok, even if that's one again was beige XD at least I have learn new thing about me: I do not like IKEA designs for armchairs - I don't remember even one time I wanted one from IKEA o.O and I really like a lot of their products (especially bookcases, dressers and kitchen gadgets)
yes Morabo is da bomb. I have kids and their destructive little ways have subjected my couches to tough experience's and they have stood the test of time.
Hey man … thanks for this video, can you please make more like this? And maybe turn it into a series of videos.
I prefer the last idea, but I really don't like metal furniture. As a suggestion, next time include an option not using metal furniture. Thank you for your content!
Of course - all very subjective.
These feel like office waiting rooms to me.
what happened to your cable management? 🤔
This is turning into the Ikea channel haha
I would never recommend only shopping at one store. It always ends up looking like a catalogue page. Rather buy preloved furniture with unique style and good quality to save money.
Just because it resembles something more expensive, does that make it a good pick?
These videos are a great help to me. In my new and pared down living situation, I will need to be combining some vintage pieces with some new pieces of furniture - and the success of the whole project will depends lot on how the furniture works together.
These IKEA episodes make for a nice filler between the "Architect Redesigns" videos.
Thanks! I realized even if I have lots of inspiration, I find it excruciatingly hard to actually pair things without just buying everything in one color 😭 I previously just stayed with white and I want to start including black and colors but I just find it so hard 😭
Loved the video content, but the sponsor shoutout was amazing, well done, and informative.
Thanks Paula! I appreciate the feedback!
Where are your shirts from? Love the simple aesthetic
I was begging for some colour until you got to option 4. I'd love to see future options deal with colourful yet minimalist.
How are you lighting your face with just one light ? Did you upgrade your setup?
Great observation! I doubt many people are interested in this, but I'll say it anyway.
The key light is clamped to my C-Stand and then I boom out my shotgun mic and a small lightweight video light above as a hairlight.
Hope this cures your curiosity and is somewhat helpful!
This video is great! Very informative. A lot of knowledge and experience underlies it. Congratulations and thank you!
Another great video, Daniel!
instead of rating ur own aesthetic opinion x/10, ask us to add that bit so we do it with u - keeps engagement up. Good stuff man
I was at friends' for dinner last evening, and we spent a considerable time over stories of the impracticality of white and beige furniture and rugs, ruined by spilled tea, red wine, etc. It's surprising how velvet is actually very practical, in that the nap is very wipable. I love the MCM option; you could choose it in shades of grey to make it more soothing if colours are too much, I suppose.
Best vid so far! Great job. Any chance u could do a studio apartment or bedroom version? Thanks for great content 😊
Personally, I tend to find chairs with no arms and couches with low backs and/or no arms uncomfortable. I really like the Finnala sofa. It has clean lines but a higher back, and even has an optional headrest.
Man, I consider myself a minimalist but that option 4 really looks great!
Hey, great video! Thank you for this. I just wanted to add that the Havberg chair is not all synthetic leather, parts of it are real leather! I don’t own it myself, but I just double checked as I remembered that it was real leather from when I first encountered it on the website.
Have a great day!
You're right! The sitting surfaces are made from top grain leather. I've added this as a correction in the description - thanks for this!
I love the colour option, plus it’s the most comfy sofa.
I’m in Spain so colour is good in our sunny climes
I'm getting ready to move and I've been watching your videos more frequently for inspiration and advice. Thanks again for this!
I have to say as some one who is looking to invest in property and always looking for biudget firendly ideas to show the property as an actual living space and not just an empty building this video is great. It shows some budget friendly options I can re-use in different properties that look amazing. I'd love to see more videos like this especially for bedrooms and living rooms
I own the Soderham and I can confirm it is the most uncomfortable sofa I have ever owned.
Oh noo lol - I was hoping to get one for its minimal profile 😮💨
Hei Daniel, fantastic clear and usefull video, thank you!. One question: the Applaryd sofa seems to crack awfyully (70% of the reviews in the NLS). As the Sotherhamm is so low, which sofa would you recommend to replace the Applaryd? So eager to hear your opinion ;-)
Soderhamn sofa can also be used as a guest bed, it is close to the size of a twin mattress without the cushions (I haven't measured but my twin-sized fitted sheet fits just right) - add a point for utility? 😉 but great video, as always - such a joy to watch!
Thank you for this comment - I am looking at sofas or sofa beds that have a smaller profile but can be used when guests come - the twin size is ideal!
I love option 1. Unfortunately, the Äpplaryd sofa has very low reviews for quality. But I learned from you the difference legs on a sofa are making.
outstanding content....so many people need this information as well as the aesthetic tools.
What about the ASARUM sofa bed (£450) for option 5? Also, surprised the POÄNG, SKÅLBODA or LINNEBÄCK chairs didn't feature
This is an amazing video !! Please do this every season, and for every room, maybe be even for a whole house ! Wonderful ! Thanks so much !
just discovered your channel and already getting so much value from it. Keep doing what youre doing. And please make a video about styling a flat with a very dark floor :D I need this. Tysm
Thanks for this video: I have complex feelings about Ikea, but it was interesting to see how you'd suggest grouping their items.
My only criticisms are really based in semantics/word choices. I think titling this as "pairing" was inaccurate, because you were suggesting groups, rather than pairs. Secondly, I think the "value" rating is misleading: from your explanations, this rating was really about price (with lower prices getting a higher rating)... Whereas value would better reflect the worth of the items - i.e. your other ratings - balanced against the price.
That aside, I'm really enjoying your approach in all these Ikea videos.
Many thanks!
Showing how to build a room piece by piece is a great idea. The first design...a bit cold because of the chair which looks more like an office chair.
I didn't really like any of the rooms.. but I don't like 99% of IKEA furniture.. I prefer real wood furniture and Scandi style with natural materials etc.
But interesting video.
Sir, Some one is trying to do fraud with your channel i just got a message from a scam guy. Offered me $1000, i denied, ask for tips, fraud asked $200. it happand because i never got any reply from any one any one before, but we are indians we think multiple times about each rupee( cent )
Great video! I like the Japandi style and the last one with the day bed! I love the functionality of the day bed and the aesthetic of the Japandi style! I like seeing all of the colors and textures be put together to make really great options !
Please, pleeeeeease, the word is function …. It s not functionality. Just function…. You care about function, something can rate for its function…
I would have liked lamps in your different options. You had one in No ,1. For me, without lighting no interior is complete.
Love IKEA sofas and chairs, but their coffee tables and side tables are mostly very bland.
everything is so.. dull and cold... an interior that gives you suicide thoughts is not something someone should be looking after....
what about making the same thing with warm, inviting furnitures instead of conceptual cold greyish stuff ?
the video itself is great dont get me wrong, it's just that the design choices are so impersonnal and uninviting...
Try out plushie dogs. If you love blue, a red fox plushie (not a stuffed corpse) makes a warm appearance.
@@SilentHillFetishist still, the furniture design itself is not ivinting... long thin black metal legs instead of thick wood whatever color.. even with some decoration it's still to cold for me^^ but i understand some might like those simple designs...
I personally find the aesthetic peaceful, and can’t stand clutter or super busy rooms. To each their own.
The last bed frame would be ideal for my garden ... but of course its not available in Austria. Damn you, ikea!
I would deduct points on durability for the fake leather sofa. Fake leather is plastic and it tends to become brittle and flakey over time. I'd prefer for the chair to be fabric in a similar complimentary colour, which might be cheeper too.
1st option for me. I do not like anything beige or brown or "natural" stuff... I would have everything in metal and glass! huahuahuahua
None of these are good tbh. And “virtually unbreakable metal construction” for ikea items? I think you haven’t owned one 😂
Please in the future add a bookshelf and a storage unit, as those are typical living room furnitures! ❤
Hello mate I love ur channel and videos , I am rebuilding me home recording studio and I would love ur help and feedback on what I could use , and what not to , as this is my bed room / studio
I’ve been to IKEA once in my life while on holiday in the Netherlands! These videos bring back the nostalgia of my first IKEA experience but also leave me so sad that we don’t have any IKEAs in South Africa 😂
I LOOOOOVE the havberg chair ! I want to buy it for my room, but it is a bit too low, the angle is perfect but the feet is too short, do anyone can recommand me another one with higer sitting position or a hack to extend the foot ?
