- As artists, we'll bend over backwards to encourage connection with our audience. We do it in paint and we can support that with words. For a lot of us, we find it easier in paint than words, but we can all speak so we do know how to use words.... it just takes a bit of effort and isn't as much fun.
Watch the Vlog and see how to write an Artist's Statement.

Thanks Judy! This is the exact help I needed to do my first artist statement - for my new, first website!! Love how you help us all!
Glad it was helpful!
As I listened to this video, I realized that the pieces I submitted to juried show were more successful an artist's statement was required with the submission, then considered by the jurors. I suspect it helps viewers, including jurors, to have a context to consider. It also helped me to clarify my process, my inspiration, and my direction.
you are so cool and kind. thank you for making this vidoe!!! i am super grateful to watching this video as an artful life practice. i'm currently streaming it while enjoying a cup of yogurt, and appreciating your artful presentation.

My pleasure!
Do people actually read those things?!
They do actually.
Can I ask a question? Are art statements referring to each individual piece, series or me as an artist? Or perhaps all 3? Thank you
