WOW, ty Julian thats really valuable content, we have not had any idea of this as I studied art in Berlin in the 80s. The internet really has become a great tool for studying and learning ART.
This is very helpful, thank you. I started a family when I was 20, now I'm 39 and I am able to dive back into art but I've felt kind of lost and your videos have been SO valuable to me. Another thing that has helped is that I life model; it has let me keep a foot in the door and glean the information the professor is giving the students. Then I can put it to practice when I get home 🙂
Your videos have been very informative and useful for me over the years. Thank you for your time, effort, and research. I recently had to work on my Artist Statement as I applied to have some of my work featured at The Arts Council in my city. It took me 3 hours to write 4 sentences (There was a character limit), but recalling back to some of your videos certainly aided me in the process of forming this Artist Statement. I wasn't very hopeful, as I applied at the very last minute and was able to upload only 3 photos of my work. However, I just found out that I will be a featured artist for over a month this year. I will have an entire 30 foot wall space to showcase my work in my first ever Gallery showing! This video in particular would have been nice to reference to, but again I just wanted to sincerely thank you for this channel. It has truly helped me focus on my craft more and is an aid in my artists journey.
Thank you Julien!! As an artist at the beginning of my (stellar) career, I find it incredible that you seem to post a video with clear and detailed answers as soon as a question arises in me 🤩 Your work is of great value for many of us out here. So much, much gratitude and positive vibes to you and the whole CAI team!! ✨
I have been missing this puppy! Oh and the art content and its creator. Ok, I just finished the vid. Wow, thanks for being a good mentor who shares these practical experiences and the nitty-gritty of it all! No BS, no gatekeeping. 👍🏻 The art world needs it.
I am as a matter of my daily work regimen theorizing. It is part and parcel of my daily art process. This can encompass several hours. I write my ideas, critique observations and relevant thoughts, placing them in “Art Notes “ on my iPad. I have much material to peruse and apply. There are also the most curious things that come to mind in the night and or early morning hours. I write all these down. Familiarizing myself with who I am as an artist is important. I consider this time part of my art hours logged as working. Quite frankly I am well positioned to applying your thoughts and ideas. Not only here but in other CAI videos that apply. When money constraints ease movement in these directions will follow. Thank you for your insights. My thoughts are wishing you there, all success in your mentioned show.
"Familiarizing myself with who I am as an artist is important." This is truly a great sentence! As an artist, you need to discover your own vision and try to capture it, which is a lot harder than it sounds. Writing it down and working with it on a daily basis is exactly what it takes. Thank you Daniel, as always, and wishing you the very best!
@@contemporaryartissueThank you for your continued encouragement. I’ve signed up for your upcoming video I think it drops on the 19th, looking forward to that one. See you then!
I love the way you talk. Very easy to understand and tips you probably won't find anywhere else. Thank you! I am a retired commercial artist. I now find my paintings of daylilies don't sell easily as my drawings of rubber tires did. So your helpful tips are valuable to me. Thanks!
I direct a residency program and we get some of the most insane statements. People try so hard creating word salads that they sound like their from another planet and comes off in relatable. I challenge artists to simplify and shorten
Thank you Julien for defining a professional outline and purpose. It a pleasure to hear from you again. I did some exercises from the free course offered at the Creative Capital website. It really delved me into observing my own work in a new, growing perspective with the exercises they suggested.Challenging… but that is growth isn’t it? I feel it would be beneficial to have a tool for this that is Not ai generated…somehow…and that it would be of even more value. Sincerely, Janet
Hi Janet, likewise, great to hear you once more. Sounds terrific, and yes, that is exactly what progress is-challenging yourself. The role of the AI is actually rather limited. The questions formulated in the tool get you started by providing the right information, and after we have written all the important information, the AI improves the quality of the text and writing-especially for those who do not have the required writing skills in English. Have a great day!
A wonderful video. Thank you so much. I'm learning some great things about AS that I did not know about or fully comprehend before I wrote and submitted about three AS so far. So your video is on a loop for an obvious reason. 🙂🎨🖌
Dear Julien, thank you for this video and for all the others because they were all very helpful to me. My Website is much better now, by the way... and by developing series, I have achieved a better consistency in my work. Now, I'm redacting my artist statement and I'm confused about one thing : Should it be written in the first or the third person? Because in the third person, it strangely looks like the BIo!
Hi Julien, i have a question that didn't find an answer for in the video. And it is should an artist statement be written in first person or a third person? Asking because there is a lot of conflicting information about on the internet. Thanks!
Horrible timing. I could have used this yesterday. I was reflecting on my discomfort when I talk to others about my art. "My art isn't yet ready." This will help.

That's terrific, congratulations! Thank you for your kind words of gratitude, I appreciate it. Wishing you all the best with your show!
Thank you. I needed this. Funny how doing the art is easy, talking about it is hard.
Hopefully these pointers can get you started to build that foundation so talking about your art will become easy/easier. Wishing you all the best!

This was so informative and I love that you have provided a sort of template. Question: how does one find an art critic one can work with?

Thank you!
Can one's artist statement change over time? Or is one supposed to be comited to a single line?
Thx!
Best video for me today. Hello I am an artist. Want to sell art online but don't know the process where I have to sell. Need your guidelines sir.
We will cover this topic in one of our future videos so feel free to stay tuned!
👌🏽✨

Three sentences!!!
Yes!
🤔
I thought artist statements are always like “I am a painter…” format?
Great video, thank you.
