SGR C7 demo (does it djent?)

  • Sorry for the slops, it was recorded in a rush!
    A quick metal/djent demo of a stock SGR C7 by Schecter, including the obligatory djent dampening rags (trademark). Great guitar for the price! I bought a new bridge pickup, so I thought I would record the stock one before I make the change, so I can make an AB test.
    I used a 6505 simulation from Revalver 4, with a tube screamer and a compressor in front, and a mesa cab with sm57 simulation. No post processing or heavy EQing, in order to keep it simple and realistic.
    Audio interface: Line 6 ux1 (Toneport).

      @@Testamented91 Thank you! I'll try! Another quick question: I'm seeing a lot of people putting a cloth around the end of the tune-o-matic bridge. Is it to dampen the strings? If not, what is it for? Thank you again!

      @@dragonkhanrider yeah, its to lower the unwanted noise. It can be heard with high gain tones, its like high pitch ringing. Try plucking the part of the strings behind the nut, and you will hear it. Its not critical, but once you've noticed it, it makes sense to dampen it, since its easy.

    Question: does it stay in tune?
    How are the pickups?

    • @Testamented91
      @Testamented91  6 лет назад +3

      I use it occasionally, not for long periods of time, but it does stay in tune for those sessions. The tuners are not the best, they have some wiggle, but usable. Pickups are decent for what they are, very usable, and really high gain. You can get a decent sound out of them as you can hear hopefully.

      @darkbardskg 6 лет назад

      Dusan Stefanovic basically I am one step away from buying it, that's why i wanted to know. Thank you very much! Would you recommend it, after all?

    • @Testamented91
      @Testamented91  6 лет назад +6

      Haha, I am bad at making people pull the trigger. Depends on what you want from it. I keep it as a cheap 7 string to satisfy my need for a 7. Would not be happy with it as my only guitar, but thats mainly because of the action, which is pretty high for my standards, and cant go any lower without buzzing. My rationale is, try to buy used, so if you dont like it, you can always resell it for the same price. See what is out there on the used market, maybe something else you might like. If that is not an option, I would say, its a good guitar to have on the side for fun. I have 3 more guitars, all 800 - 1100 Eur new, and I spend more time with them, and objectively, they are much better in terms of playability and general feel. Hope that doesnt make your decision harder :D

    • @Testamented91
      @Testamented91  6 лет назад +1

      Hey, I think you should be looking mainly at action, because pickups are replaceable, even later down the line. These pickups are decent for the price, but the action on my particular guitar is not great. It cant be lowered any further without buzzing. Its playable, but I am used to more expensive guitars, like ibanez prestige, premium, etc, which have perfect action. So in your case, I would recommend trying the specimen before buying.

    • @petarpetrov3806
      @petarpetrov3806 6 лет назад

      Well, rn I can get this guitar with Seimor Duncan pickups for like 150 bucks. Given the fact that coming from cheap squier strat from the bulletstrat series with c-shaped neck with awful action, I've been able to pull of some OK - ish playing. My budget is really tight but i really want 7 string guitar. Do you think this particular one is worthy considering that my budget is really tight

    • @Testamented91
      @Testamented91  6 лет назад +1

      For that price, it is definitely worth it, since the pickups only are worth ~100. If you dont like it, you can resell it for more or the same price. Its basically no risk, if what you want is 26.5 inch scale 7 string. Keep in mind, the strings are a bit tighter. That is nice on the lower end, but makes bends a bit harder, you might want to invest in a hybrid set, if you can find one, or see it as a way to improve strength. If the ad you are talking about is looking decent, and not worn and beat up, I say go for it. Just ask the seller if the guitar has any problems, and hope he is honest :) Let me know how you like it once you get it, hope I was some help!

      Ja sam je kupio polovnu, za 100ak evra. Imam jos 3 gitare pored nje, i vrsi mi posao ovakva kakva je. Ima blago kriv vrat, koji ne moze da se ispravi vise nego sto jeste sad, pa akcija nije bas savrsena. Smetalo bi mi da mi je jedina gitara, ali ovako mi je ok, posto je retko koristim za lead. Nekom mozda ne bi smetalo. Moj savet je da sacekas da se pojavi nesto polovno jeftino, sto zadovoljava tvoje kriterijume, koji god to bili. I da se maksimalno potrudis da je probas pre kupovine (novu ili polovnu), jer sa jeftinijim gitarama se nikad ne zna, vrlo cesto imaju probleme sa vratom koji ne mogu da se rese jednostavnim setup-om. Ja imam samo iskustvo sa ovom, pa ne znam da li je ona pravilo, ili izuzetak. Nadam se da sam od pomoci, javi ako te zanima jos nesto :)
