Great introduction to the series. Thank you. Looking forward to it. Also this series takes place 30 years after Brian Herbert's and Kevin J. Anderson's "Sisterhood of Dune". Which was written a few years ago, I'm re-reading it now before viewing this new HBO series.

Good question. Max does not do the binge model and releases weekly. Critics are given 3/4 episodes to watch and give a review. So the only way they would watch it is if they watched the first four episodes as critics

The series is actually a follow-up to the novel "Sisterhood of Dune" by Brian Herbert (son of Frank Herbert) and Kevin J. Anderson, apparently taking place decades later. Emperor Javicco Corrino was only a boy in the Sisterhood novel and the Harkonnen sisters were in their early 20s.
These two authors have written more than a dozen Dune books - both prequels and sequels - since the death of Kevin's father. They have been harshly criticized and many fans reject them as Dune cannon. One of my own criticisms of the Herbert/Anderson books is that these two buffoons write with the intellectual development of two high school kids, creating comically bad, implausible storylines full of plot holes, and filled with too many characters yet none of them are ever never fully developed. The dialog is awful, everyone behaves and talks like a Disney stereotype and the villains especially are more ridiculous then diabolical.
But......... even if this series is based on the Herbert/Anderson novels, it has been developed by far better writers and I have hope it can be salvaged as a prequel to the Villeneuve films. The Dune novels are DENSE and convoluted and hard to translate into film. If you haven't read them you probably had no idea what was gong on in the films, so they need a backstory.
I really wish they had gone back further in time and started with the Machine War.

Very few people have watched it at the moment, but it has 72% of positive reviews in RT. That's quite good, actually. I remember Dune: Part 1 had only 75% positive reviews in its first weeks. On the other hand, HBO has done some atrocious shows in the past, so quality is never guaranteed.

@matiasdevaglia4541 RT score means nothing to me, it's never accurate, I go by IMDB since it's never guided Me wrong. But the early reviews have not been good

The premier is 17 November and it will be a weekly release. So the only way you would have watched it full is if you time travelled to the future😂😂😂. Stop being a bot.
