নাইক্রোমের আপেক্ষিক রোধ 100*10^-8 ওহম মিটার। ফলে এর মধ্য দিয়ে তড়িৎ প্রবাহের সময় প্রচুর তাপ উৎপন্ন হয়। নাইক্রোমের গলনাঙ্ক বেশি হওয়ায় এটি উচ্চ তাপেও গলে না। এজন্যই বৈদ্যুতিক হিটারে নাইক্রোম তার ব্যবহার করা হয়।
