I’m 100% SMC-S total and permanent I have one condition rated at 100% another condition rated at 70% and other conditions rated 60 and below. I am not housebound So if you have a condition rated 100% and another at 70% you should be SMC-S eligible I am still able to hold full employment. I was unaware of special monthly compensation at the time of filing for disability benefits. Luckily I have a primary care team who really went the extra mile filing things after determining all my conditions.
My local VARO says you need a single 100% rating and another stand alone 60% rating instead of multiple ratings adding up to 60% to qualify for statutory SMC S. Is this the correct interpretation of the regulation?
@@proudasiangirl576 thanks for the response. Once I hit my 100% rating 10 year anniversary in January ‘26 I’m going to ask for the statutory SMC S that I’m entitled to backdated to June 2020 when my standalone 100% condition was effective.
Can you please give examples. For instance, I’m 80% and one of my conditions is 60 (Gerd) 30% headaches and 10% tinnitus. I was thinking of getting 100% TDIU, one I get depression and sleep apnea connected. What are your thoughts on this?
If you have TDIU for your GERD and you are housebound you qualify. Housebound can be in the premises as well. I was told if you go get food or go to appointments and back home still considered housebound. Another qualifier is If you are 100 in a disability and your other disabilities are 60 or more you qualify.
I don’t believe so. You need just one claim to be 100 percent. You also need to have another claim totaling 60% OR other claims that total up to 60% to qualify BUT the kicker is that that one disability or others that total 60% cannot relate to your 100% disability at all. Hope that made sense
My disabilities range from my extremities as well as sleep apnea from diabetes which averages out to 100%. I'm also SC for depression at 70%. Do I qualify for smc-s
@@xxheadshotxx5562what? Smc s rate is 4054 and 100% alone is 3621. That’s not 360 it’s more like 430 and if you got K combined it’s like almost 600 extra.
Wow! Knowledge is beyond powerful! I had no idea!!

That’s what the Va told me that I wasn’t housebound, just in that category. I have to call them again.

Nope. It's an additional 60% "combined: rating + one disability @ the 100% rating.

I think you may have gotten like 6K for back pay for your SMC S.
If someone is 100% permanent and total, and 70% PTSD and 50% and below on others. Could you qualify for SMCS or any other SMC

You might qualify for smc-l. Have you applied for the Pcafc program?
Can someone work with smc -s housebound ?
How do you apply for SMC-S?
You can’t apply for SMC this is determined by the VA based disability ratings
Is SMC/S additional to your P&T compensation!?!?
Yea but is just like 360 dollars extra
@@xxheadshotxx5562 that's "just" $4320 annually of tax free income.

There is no compensation for P&T. P&T is just a title or status.
SMC S for a single veteran no dependents is 4175 per month
