The reason WR vs DB 1 on 1s are are a complete shit show these days is that in the current college atmosphere DBs almost never go 1 on 1, and WRs almost never have to run routes against it. Why? All they do is pass now, and so the DBs are always in zone coverage, if they went man to man they would get beat most of the time. Again, why? College programs put ALL their best althletes on offense for the same reason I mentioned above. Its all offense these days. These WR vs DB battles are have been a joke the past few years because its not anything they do in college. It looks like high school ball during these 1 on 1s. Technique for the most part is terrible. DBs are holding on every play out of fear of being beat, and WR have no idea how to get open when its man to man.
