Jason I love the great War Era planes the best and it looks like a very cool kit!

The tool is a few years old but that's probably a good thing. Their recent efforts have been a bit overscale especially on stitching. Glad to see so many markings and quality lozenge in this one. We used to have to buy aftermarket lozenge in addition to the kit doubling the price of admission. Eduard's WWI kits have always been excellent and the Profipak kits are becoming a good value again.

Hi Jason, nice first impressions. These will look great all built up. I have the Eduard Camel and Co set with two Sopwith Camels, I hope to be building sometime this summer. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day. Jeff

The rib tapes…I’ve built the 1:72 scale Eduard version of the cover-art. What they mean by “both sides” is both the upper and lower sides of a single wing. The tape is applied to meet the trailing edge (or aileron hinge), wraps around the leading edge and aligns again with the trailing edge on the opposite surface of the wing. It threw me at first, too. It’s quite easy, but clearly time consuming. Pink or green rib tape is personal preference. In real life, both colours came on a reel and you used whatever was on hand. It looks great when finished.

Hi Jason, I'm dipping my toe into the world of old bi-planes and have got a inter war American trainer from ICM in 1/32 as a first build. Well not quite a first build, I remember when I was still at school in the seventies doing Airfix stuff. From that time I've always loved the Albatros, a lovely looking aircraft. Interesting you say even in 1/48 it' still quite small as I did a 1/72 Sopwith Camel about ten years ago and I'd forgotten just how tiny it is. Obviously my hands were smaller when I was a kid! Because of that I am sticking with 1/32, a bit less fiddly, especially when it comes to the rigging.
This looks a lovely kit though and that box art is superb, would look good framed up. Version E for me! Take care mate.

Couple of things having built a few of those (You are right the tooling is a lot older):
Panel lines are fine. Once there are a few coats of paint on them you will be grateful for them.
One very distinct feature of the Albatrosses was washout in the ailerons. Sadly not replicated by Eduard and it shows up in the finished model. A more capable modeler might be able to bend them.
And no wicker seats in Albatrosses. The German colour schemes are so bright they look fantastic in a group. Really like a circus.
And you use pink rib tapes underneath and green ones on top of the wings. As illustrated in the painting guide. Eduard not at fault. Decals go down great!
    Good kits.
Otherwise nice review. 30 minutes not wasted.
    Thanks

I think it's a French pilot btw being shotdown on the cover (not British) :)
