Ik there are a lot of comments about this already, but pls never use a sponsor that uses NFTs ever again, the amount of damage they can do the environment is catastrophic.
They also mess with the world's economy and some NFT companies steal art from small artists on the internet

@Dhruv Acharya "Non fungible" basically means "non-interchangeable". Something that's mass-produced or has a fixed value is fungible, a unique object is non-fungible.
NFTs are basically virtual tokens, usually used to represent ownership of a non-fungible digital asset, such as a picture or a character in a video game. They're similar to cryptocurrency in that they're digital tokens based on blockchain technology, and sometimes very valuable, but each NFT represents a unique item rather than a particular quantity of money.
NFTs are often regarded as scams, because the most popular NFTs have basically no inherent value (most are computer-generated pictures of an animal, like a monkey or lion - all the NFT gives you is a hyperlink to the picture, and membership of an online forum). At least in principle, NFTs could be used for things that actually have some sort of function, e.g. a character in a video game, like the video sponsor is promoting, though doing this isn't any better than any other secure method of tracking who owns what items/characters.

1:57 funny story about this, in my first run of the game and my first playthrough of Sinnoh, (Brilliant diamond) I was sweeping Cynthia with drapion and dialga until garchomp came out, where dialga lived an earthquake, and I decided I wanted to use roar of time as a sheer act of defiance, but dialga decided to piss me off and missed the roar of time (I should have just used ice beam). Garchomp then sweeped my entire team except gallade which somehow lived a dragon claw and killed it. So yeah that was fun, thanks dialga for missing that move

The only accuracy lowering moves Floatzel can learn are Double Team via TM (unlikely it was taught this) and Mud Slap via breeding (no way it was taught this). Unless another Pokemon lowered Garchomp's accuracy, this is impossible. Also, Air Balloons didn't exist in Gen 4.
Please do not take crypto related sponsors, they're currently really really unpopular and taking them will only hurt your reputation. I think it's for the best you avoid them.

So, I usually skip sponsor segments, and here was no different. However, I did manage to skip to the point where nfts are brought up. As an artist, I highly recommend against supporting a game or whatnot that even dabbles in such. The etherium that people use to buy them consume a lot of energy, damaging the environment, and small artists aren’t actually being supported as people who support nfts say that’s what can be done with them. I don’t wanna get into some big debate over this, but for the sake of the environment, please don’t support them. I really love this channel and it’d be devastating to see one of my favorite creators support nfts

Exactly. I'm an artist whose friends have gotten their art and animations stolen and minted as NFTs without their consent. I'm nowadays too afraid to publish my own art online because of this. I believe the environmental damage is the worst thing about NFTs, but the personal damage is also very very bad. Mike is being ignorant at best and irresponsible at worst trying to sell this stuff to his (mostly)very young fanbase..

I adore you Mikey, but PLEASS don't ever take this sponsor again. I'll admit, the game IS gorgeous but NFT's are so damaging, not just to artists but to the enviroment. Their servers take so much to run and is extremely taxing on our planet. They are very heinous and not to mention how underhanded the tactics behind NFT's are in general. I really suggest looking into it. They try to tote NFT's as food for digital artists but they really aren't, they not good for anyone.

Some of them aren't as bad by using proof of stake rather than proof of work, but the main popular* ones like lazy lions or bored apes are using ethereum which is currently proof of work, meaning the infrastructure is using way more electricity. Also theres some that are selling others artwork as NFTs and the only response is "Well you should have sold yours as NFTs first."

@@wubbers662 Great question! NFTs are based on the “blockchain”, which is a system designed to keep people from stealing a digital item. As part of that security, they have to run lots and lots of calculations - like, an unfathomable amount. And that takes a lot of electricity - which means a lot of fossil fuels & a lot of greenhouse gasses. Does that help?

@@ameladaptivedaydreamer949 NFT stands for Non-Fungible Token, and it's basically a piece of art that you buy, but rather than buying the art itself because it's a digital image, you just own a hyperlink to the art, and the picture itself can be saved or screenshotted by anyone. A lot of NFT art is stolen from artists and sold as an NFT without their permission. More importantly though, NFT purchases are done using a cryptocurrency called ethereum, and ethereum transactions wreak *havoc* on the environment. One ethereum transaction uses enough electricity to power an average home for about 3 days. Ethereum on average uses more power per year than Denmark and has a carbon footprint the size of Lithuania's. If you don't understand what all this means, just know this is hideously wasteful in the pursuit of profit, and it is absolutely evil. You might not know what NFTs are, but Michael is a grown man who works on the internet; he *absolutely* knows what NFTs are.

I actually found a shocking connection between Dialga, Palkia, Roar of Time and Spacial Rend. Roar of Time uses so little time (i.e., less than Planck time) that it shatters Spacetime while with Spacial Rend, a slash is sent so fast it collapses the Spacetime fabric. So Game Freak was pretty clever with their signature moves.

And I'll add my voice to everyone else saying that NFTs don't make anything better. Honestly, the game looks fine, but the NFT association just makes it sound more like a worthless cash grab based around collecting the most valuable characters rather than a game about battling.
Mikey, I hope your contract with Illuvium ends soon so you can stop supporting what is currently a broken and harmful system (nfts and block chain mining for etherium) this brazenly while ignoring the implications behind it.
While nfts may eventually lead to a system which can protect the work of small artists, as of now they are responsible for large amounts of art theft and squeezing out small creators.
Also the Etherium used in the game currently comes from a form of block chain mining which is incredibly power inefficient and damages the environment.
fun fact, nfts are unregulated and companies like illuviummm are specifically paying out the ass to keep them that way. companies that want to try and help the small guys dont spend literally millions trying to make it so they can do whatever they want without being held accountable for any gambling or scams that the industry throws at teenagers...... that they pay millions more out the ass to get influencers like logan paul and now mikey to advertise to their audience as cool and normalized. theyll never give a care about small artist. they care as much as a new york hedge fund cares about a mom and pop store.

I cannot believe you're involved in marketing an NFT game. Cannot stress enough how much I caution against supporting these in the future. They exist not only on harmful environmental practices that are also a large part of why the computer market has become extremely cost-prohibitive but they also are filled with unethical marketing and sales practices. I am a huge fan of your content and firmly believe you don't have any malicious intent with it, but if these are the types of sponsors you're picking up I'll have to stop watching it and unsubscribe.

i REALLY hope you know how bad NFTs are. maybe the sponsor didn't want you to leave them out of the picture despite the majority of people agreeing that NFTs are a bad thing, due to harmong the environment, generally being a scam, etc. agreeing on being sponsored by a company that is pro-NFT isn't a good look for your channel, my guy, and i really hope you take these sponsors more carefully

Man really questions how they could steal his content and the legality of it whilst also having a sponsor that uses NFTs. Not sure exactly how they run theirs, but just having them in general is a huge red flag.
Feels like a really bad sponsor to take given the reception of NFTs lately by not only the gaming community, but artists as a whole.
Well, at least the rest of the video is fine, though this definitely reminds me why I skip sponsors. Sometimes you hear some depressing stuff in them.

Even then, right now theres a massive spread of art theft being sold as nfts with people coming up with bullcrap excuses on why its okay for them to steal it.

Listen, you know I respect the grind. And I know you gotta sell ad space to make money. And I agree that game looked interesting. But NFTs are DEVESTATING for the environment.
As Pokémon fans, we all know how important it is to protect the earth we live on and I feel like supporting any project that utilizes NFTs is contrary to that.
I otherwise enjoyed the video but if you continue to give ad space to NFTs then I will have to unsubscribe and stop watching or sharing your content.
