  • This video explains the three-dimensional stresses acting on an element of a loaded body. Later, it discusses the plane stresses and notations of different stresses at different planes. The concept of transformation of plane stress is first explained, and then the derivation of plane stresses on an inclined plane is performed. In the last, the sign convention has been explained.

I have a doubt. We have the value of stresses in one plane, and we want to calculate the stresses on another plane in a different direction. Is that the value at the point where the element is rotated by an angle theta, or does the value remain the same at any element inclined at theta, regardless of its location in the beam, when determining the stresses?

Dear, this is the value at any point along the beam's length having same distance from the centerline of the beam and rotated at the same angle

Hello! Very helpful video! One reccomendation is to turn the music down, its hard to hear sometimes.
