Another great video. I've played GL as a secondary since he launched, and I must say that I wish they focused more on improving his normals and less on improving his neutral skips (though I would be lying to say that haven't done a bit of both). I miss old f.S so much.

I play Testament / Anji and I have a lot of fun fighting Goldlewis Especially now with WWA being put into a healthier state I hope his reputation can recover a little more, he’s unique both in how you operate him and design wise not just in Strive but Fighting Games in general Fantastic video to teach people about the character over the years ❤

The entire concept and execution of Behemoth Typhoon is so sick imo and I already like big bodies like Potemkin & Zangief :3 Can't say much about his rep, almost everyone I fought over the years doesn't like fighting Goldlewis 😭
His reputation won't really improve as long as he is a guard crush character. Guard Crush is just a despised mechanic (for very good reasons) and I suspect if we ever get a new Guilty Gear after Strive, Guard Crush will not be making a return.
When I play a fighting game, in order to get really into it, I have to find a character that FEELS good. Goldlewis is that character for me in Strive. I almost don't like that he's pretty good now lmao I liked my gimmicky low tier, although it's clear that he was just misunderstood on release.
I look out for the big boys in fighting games myself, and wow Goldlewis just kind of clicked for me instantly. (I love churning my stick) I'm happy that he isn't too good from a single thing like old Drone or WWA anymore.

As an Anji main, I still am wondering how the fuck did I live before they added Midare. Like, there were situations where you could land autoguard and fet punished for it. I was a floor 6-7 player before season 3, so I guess the character being weak didn't matter much
Some people jumped the gun calling him the worst shortly after he came out, plus only a month into the game's life we were all still bad with Strive lol Absolutely agree that Faust and Anji were the worst, my boy Faust could not even get a Super wallbreak 😭
I remember Goldlewis being shat on hard upon release. Lots of complaining about his neutral and difficulty to approach, which only became more noticeable once Happy Chaos came out. I quit playing before Baiken's release, so now that I've returned, I'm shocked by how insane Goldlewis has become. Guess you could consider me a person who thought Goldlewis was the worst character when he released.
Hoping that Fs gets recovery buff back to what it used to be now that wwa isn't a neutral skip. 2s could arguably use another buff as well... I do think that wwa is kind of weak now? I see no reason to use it when I could save burst instead. Hoping they adjust it a bit cause spending 50% of life saving burst to be -3 feels like a really bad trade. Overall he requires way more thinking than in 3.0, which is a good thing.
I would love the old f.S back ofc, but I think 2S is pretty good where it is currently. I think WWA is still a great tool in some match ups to avoid long pokes and to just stuff your opponent throwing things out. It's neat to choose between having Burst or potentially phase an attack but lose your turn if they manage to block
I find WWA to be pretty decent for combos. I'm a Potemkin main for reference. WWA being my only invincible wake-up (that isn't insane to input) is also pretty important, so I don't really agree with the sentiment that WWA is bad. To be fair though, I haven't used other Wild Assaults before, so I might believe this due to a lack of understanding the competition.

Great video. Version 1.05 was by far the best patch in all of strive, and the most fun I've had with the game. So unfortunate S3 killed the game for me, god its garbage. Also note about his j.BT change in version 3.0, they not only made it 10startup from 12, but they removed half the active frames from most of his BT's which negatively impacted them IMO. Made it so j.BT travel less, made him less plus due to the move hitting earlier while he was higher in the air, and generally just made them worse for crossups and oki since you had to be closer to the opponent. God this change sucked. 10fr startup however did counterbalance in that it gave him some auto time land cancel BT setups, but I really wish they reverted the active frame changes.
It's just not very applicable. Most Skyfish usages are hard callouts, so the opponent avoiding one and getting in on you usually doesn't give you time to cancel anyway.
i miss god drone. Was it stupidly strong ? Yes. Was it incredibly fun for me ? Yes. But then again if I really wanna cheese the game nowadays i can always just go an play slayer 😂
3.02 to 3.06 was such a breath of fresh air for him. I went from a GL main to a GL hater during the WWA crisis because of how much it ruined his character. It changed him from a character who had mediocre neutral that had to work for his interactions into an absolute baboon that won games by accident. I think he's finally mellowed out into the role they imagined for him, with the only gripe I have left with the character being how doodoo shit his 6p is.
