I have this sudden faith in them that they can actually make it. According to the Ultimania it took them 3 years for Rebirth, which is absolutely insane and it was during Covid yet they delivered a massive game. I wish they start using Unreal for FF in general and stop these engines that, while cool, take them a generation to make a title.

But what will Creative Business Unit 2 do in between now and 3 years from now? There has to be something to fill that void. Not just more Square Enix content, but more Final Fantasy VII content with Square Enix content.
Something that can be in Disc 3 early on, but could have more content added for years to come. Expansions don’t need to be such a long wait. It can literally be anything with expansions to tie all FFVII contents together to give us the big picture without spoiling what Part 3 may become.

And they still didnt fully kill sephiroth in it. plus Dierge was set after Advent children. I think Kitase’s “thing” is Genisis. He wants to conclude that storyline. The best way to fit him in would be a Dirge of Cerberus remake. That, along with FF7 remake part 3 will tie up all loose ends that was left by the devs before the Remake trilogy. They could of course fit it in part 3 but it'd be difficult because he's only been in Crisis Core so far and he should've been injected into Rebirth so we can get like a heads up with him as is with the case of Glenn and the Wutai war
Edit: I will say that I think FF7 remake part 3 should be the de-facto end of the compilation. It would be a good opportunity to put everything to rest. I feel like anything after that which is FF7 related will not bring SE much money anymore. Unless a DoC remake pulls off but I still think remake part 3 should finish everything

Just had a weird idea for how they might end the game in trying to make everyone happy. For the final fight, aerith and Zack fight sephiroth in one universe while cloud et al fight him in a separate one. Once the battle is done the universes separate. So while Aerith and Zack would be alive in their universe, Cloud and company would never see them again.

This was also my take from the very beginning. Having Aerith and Zack reunite somehow in another timeline would be a sweet and happy ending. Although i just feel they are fated to die one way or another. Perhaps they reunite one last time before the end and sacrifice themselves in order to defeat sephiroth. They should end up in the life stream together. Rebirth definitely made the impression that they will both be around in some form part 3. We never had them see each other again so giving the player closure in that way would be huge. I do think they have to die though sadly..., although knowing they were alive and together in another dimension would be nice aswel.

  • @NiktrickSpade

From reading these tweets and the way the Re project goes, I think they should really go all out on their ideas.
The way I interpret this 'new thing' - the golden ending idea sounds tempting but it could also be something along the line of - keep the OG ending as is, but also give us a glimpse at another world with *some* characters alive and on their new journey (which connects to the possibility for future installments in the FFVII universe), this could be like a hidden ending/a side ending or a 'unique' part of the game similar to the Gold Saucer dates that the devs mentioned should be taken as.
In any case, this is all very exciting, can't wait for more news on this projects.
Really appreciate the devs for delivering us this behemoth of a project and I wholeheartedly trust them to deliver us P3.

I hope this modern ATB combat sticks around for more games, the shift towards action was losing a lot of the strategy from older games, so this was a good way of preserving that. Maybe try a version of it with Parasite Eve.
Also, a lot of the Final Fantasy games has shifted to focus on a single protagonist. I hope they do more games with an ensemble cast like the Remake trilogy has as well.

    • @littlepinkdot2916

I hate the ATB garbage. Just go back to the old school turn based line combat or stick with live action. None of this hybrid inbetween crap.
Remake and rebirth I only play on Easy just so I don't have to deal with that ATB crap.
At the very least the enemies should have ATB bars too... Instead they get to have as many turns as they like while I have to run around in circles staring at a bar waiting to go up while they get to go 10 times. It's stupid and unfair.
That Roche vs Cloud fight sucked because you can't do a synergy with anybody and instead have to run around in circles waiting for ATB.

They have most of the asset library completed, but I’m sure they’ll build a bunch of new monsters and of course bosses. Their biggest hurdle is going to be fleshing out the northern continent, wutai, and mideel islands, and then they’ll need to find a way to implement the airship and submarine.
Also, my guess on the “secret thing that will make everyone happy” is that we’ll get to actually pilot the rocket into space.

My biggest question is that will they really make part 3 as an end point of the entire complication and how will they make Ac+Dirge which are stories happening supposedly after the events which Part 3 would have ended.
Also I am more so looking forward to see square make the concept of "Fusion sword" fully playable with all it's intended gimmicks of being pieced together and Break apart to switch up Cloud's fighting style from dual blade, short sword, long sword and a chunked up buster sword.
Like I don't want a cop out version of it that will basically only have the fusion sword always in a complete form and basically just play like a reskinned Buster sword. I am weirdly obsessed with these idea than the possibility of having to play Space Rocket simulation in FF VII

i hope this "thing" is a playable Advent Children. Take the concepts and story beats of a 2 hour movie and turn it into a 5 - 10 hour experience to really flesh it out. • @Snzn_7
      @Snzn_7 7 месяцев назад +1

One thing I would like is for them to have a playable Cloud with a Fusion Sword earlier (best scenario is have Cloud used that for the majority of part 3) Especially if we have a playable Zack with the buster sword in part 3 as well.
Just them making the Fusion sword alone be fully playable and make the concept of Cloud being able to fight and switch fighting stances and style depending on which part of the Fusion sword he will use is already interesting in a gameplay perspective.
Square making the Fusion sword playable only for a short epilogue will only make people probably want another full game with Cloud using a fusion sword.

My guess for the mystery thing to make everyone happy: Sephiroth redemption arc. I don't necessarily think it's a good idea, but anyone who has been in the community long enough knows how many ride or die fans he had garnered. All the lore that has been built up that he's just another tragic victim of Hojo's experiments rather than a truly evil villain - could they be leaning for an angle where Aerith (and maybe Cloud too?) forgive him for his misdeeds? No idea, just a thought!

I think about this often. Weirdly, not from a storytelling angle but a gameplay one. They bothered to program an entire moveset, animations, etc. for playable Sephiroth. I feel like you can't do that and just NOT use it again.

I don't think Kitase's "thing to deliver" is just a happy ending. Nomura could already do that because it's just a story and scenario decision. On that note, they said that the story is basically done, so I don't think this is up in the air.
The thing that's hard for Nomura to deliver is probably something related to linking up Advent Children with the end of the story in a technical way.
Advent Children already was a happy ending that provided closure, so it makes sense for Kitase to want to go in that direction.
From there, I don't think that they are going to undermine the themes of the original, but all this talk of trying new things does make it easy to get nervous.

This wouldn't destroy the original story at all but build on it with a final beautfiful conclusion. 30 Years of pain coming to a a happy end. This sounds kinda great to me. • @DevilHunter1994

So, I'll be honest, I have absolutely no idea what the "something" could actually be. (Maybe a FFVII Remake version of Advent Children to serve as an epilogue chapter of sorts? I really don't know.) What I will say though is that I don't think it's the Golden Ending where Zack and Aerith live, join up with the party, and everybody starts singing songs around the bonfire at Cosmo Canyon while the credits roll. The reason I don't think this is, simply because Nomura seems totally fine with it. Up until now, Normura has been pretty careful to keep the Remake Trilogy grounded, as you said, making sure that whatever else is added, it stays true to the themes and overall message of OG FFVII. Nomura's statement on Kitase's idea doesn't imply any real conflict between the two on the issue. He's just considering how to make the idea work well within the game. So in other words, he seems to be totally okay with the idea in itself, and thinks it could be great if handled correctly. What he's concerning himself with is merely the execution of that idea. If the idea was something that he felt compromised the themes and message of FFVII, I believe Nomura would be trying to talk Kitase out of it, rather than thinking on how best to implement it.

Golden Endings are basically always unsatisfying. The idea that they don't take anything away from the original is false, because A) the entire point of them is that they're better by comparison, and B) the point of a hard ending is that the audience has to deal with the emotional weight of the story ending in a challenging manner, and if the hard story becomes optional we really don't have to do that--and cant do that, even if we want to.
It's impossible to pretend that the ending is emotionally challenging when there's a convenient version of the story right beside it.

and nomura's thing may be that since after all this there's no way advent children is happening as is, what should they do, as everyone would love that game to be playable, but how to deliever that. it cant be an epilogue, its long, it should be a dlc

When I think of things that would make the fandom happy the 2 things that come to mind are:
    1. Saving Sephiroth, either by a redemption arc or by a time travel arc where we prevent him from going crazy, and possibly kill Hojo.
    2. Saving Aerith and Zack.
I suppose there’s ways they could do those with the dimensional convergence they seem to be hinting towards. They’ve already set up that there are worlds where Aerith and Zack didn’t die, perhaps there’s one where Sephiroth never went insane.
I’m thinking they made a good younger version of Sephiroth in Ever Crisis for a reason. Yes it’s to explore his backstory more, but they could have him return as a playable character, either through time travel shenanigans or by explaining that he’s the good parts of Sephiroth that got eroded away when he was in the lifestream. I feel like they’re going to bring together storylines from all the Compilation stories.
They already mentioned that the original ending was kind of a bad ending, Meteor is stopped but the planet deems humanity too much of a threat and allows it to be wiped out. Maybe they could go the multiple endings route.

I would also love option part 2 as well.
But I think all roads lead to Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus.
I just want a different ending of OG. I mean, if it's going to take 11 years with a 210 dollar price tag. I just want something different
I would love multiple endings. One ending where Sephiroth wins and other one where Cloud wins.
I either want a super happy ending or are the most depressing ending ever.
Either everyone gets saved, or everyone dies.
      I know that's a bit extreme for a ending.

With conclusions for the characters, I wonder if they are trying to show that whatever happens after this story that we don't see, Cloud's character arc will be complete. In other words, were the events of Advent Children and Dirge or something similar to follow this story, the Cloud in that chapter of his life wouldn't regress back to the depressed state that he is in during the game.

I think that is the hard thing for me.
We still discuss Final Fantasy VII.....VI, IV, and even the 1st title. We speak about their greatness to this day almost and over 30 years later. I do not (And I loved the game) see XVI getting the discussion 30 years from now, when I am in my 70s. The Remake series has the potential.....but it is a re-telling of an old game.
I am currently playing through the Pixel Remasters now. (The only titles to come anywhere close to their originals. I am being reminded of how great the stories of IV and VI were. I know VI is. No other title will topple it from my top spot. But I had kinda forgotten IV's amazing story and game. V being just as fun and funny as it was. The breakthrough of things in III, the attempt in II to make a system of level gaining similar to the D&D formula the games were loosely based on. And the beginning one. Took me almost a full month to get it beat back in 1991. I can work it now in 8 or so hours. Or I could before the Pixel Remaster.....they fixed the overlapping enemy glitch at the end of the peninsula north o where ya get the ship. Took ten hours instead.
But I was 13 - 19 between I, IV, VI, and VII coming out. Perhaps these new titles are just beyond amazing with that same feeling for folks in that age range now. Hopefully they are.
I am just glad I was here from the beginning. The original released in Japan when I was 9. I am now about to turn 46.

I actually think a golden ending would be bad for game. X-2 for example underminded X's ending. Fan service doesn't always work. X's OG ending, 16s ending, 7s, all hit hard because winning had a cost. At most, maybe a "what if" ending like ignis dlc did for 15, one that represents what could have been, but not what is. Cannon stays cannon.
In fact, to this day one of my favorite final fantasies will always be 6. Heck whole second half of game is bitter sweet and even when you beat it, you're still left with "but did we really win though?". the world is still in ruin and magic gone and an entire race extinct and no clear one way or another answer on whether or not this ruined world truly will make it. That kind of dark ending is peak final fantasy.

  • @sleepyprinny
    @sleepyprinny 7 месяцев назад +3

I personally don't mind 'golden endings', but only if you have to seriously jump through some hoops to get it.
Take Growlanser 4's remake, which has 3 routes with the modified route being the 'golden ending'.
Each route and ending is decided by your actions.
Basically, no 'golden endings' by default is what I want.
That also means I'd like to see any one ending be considered 'canon'.
I'm a fan of the multiverse concept tho, and MK1 handled it really well for its 3rd reboot that officially made it a thing.

I'm calling it now that part 3 is going to be called Resurrection. I'm actually very surprised that not a single person has mentioned this title so far.
I think it's going to be called Resurrection for three main reasons:
    1) tetsuya nomura when he was thinking about the title for part 2, he mentions that he wanted to come up with a title that was very similar and very reminiscent of the remake title because it conveys a very similar idea of recreating something. There is no reason to think that the RE title for part 3 will diverge from that same concept of coming up with another name that conveys that same theme of recreating something, so in that sense resurrection which means to bring something back to life, is very fitting. So that by the very end of the project they can say that they have successfully remade, rebirthed, and resurrected the final fantasy 7 game.
    2) so I think that the title for part 3 is actually hidden inside the game itself, just like the title for rebirth was hidden within the title of the one-winged angel title in part 1 soundtrack. There is a part of the temple of the ancients that is called Hall of Resurrection, and as far as I know, The only other RE word in the entirety of rebirth is reborn for the sephiroth reborn fight, and they definitely are not going to use reborn after having used rebirth.
    3) finally I feel like it would be a fantastic title because the very name Resurrection can hold a dual meaning for part 3, wear aside from achieving what nomura wants with remake rebirth and resurrection all having the same kind of theme of recreating something, it also fulfill the role of making people think of Aerith when they hear the title. We all know that's where enix loves to mess around with their audience, so what better way to make people think that she can get resurrected then through the title of the game itself, but in reality, resurrection could just be applied to another form of sephiroth just like he had his sephiroth reborn form in rebirth. Or Resurrection could apply to something else in the game, but the title will serve a dual purpose nonetheless by keeping people talking about whether Resurrection applies to Aerith.
    4) I actually have a fourth reason that I just thought of, but mind you that it's a little out there so excuse me if it sounds too far-fetched. So I feel like the title resurrection is a fitting conclusive name to the development of these three titles. Resurrection almost feels like the natural last step in the progressive titling that nomura has been doing. What I mean by progressive titling is that it almost feels like the specific order of Remake, Rebirth, and resurrection would have been chosen for a reason.
Remake would be first because to make something, like a table or a chair, is a beginner's level way of creating something: ie creating something lifeless and inanimate.
Rebirth something would be second because to give birth to something is a higher form of creation, like giving birth to a baby. Something that has a life, a soul.
Resurrection would be the final level of creation because the act of being able to give life to something that is dead is currently technologically and scientifically impossible, but they aspire to be able to achieve that one day.

An ending to please every character happy? I don't know why, but that scares me. MAYBE in another timeline where that is, but in the current timeline, it isn't necessary. I know most of us want an ending where everyone is happy with their love ones and the world was safe, but sometimes, you just can't get everything you want. But that was one of the best things about FFVII story and characters in the original. They had good lives and their story arcs were so amazing, we do wish things could have been better for them. Characters in storytelling need sad back stories so we can sympathies with them. They can't be perfect without it. Giving them this ending where "everyone is happy," just feels like fan service. I won't spoil the ending to Rebirth if you haven't finished it, but I didn't like how they handled it. It's still faithful to the original (to a point), but HOW the way they did it, was TOO....ew...Disney-ish? I have a feeling that's what they meant and how they want the ending to be for Part 3 when they said everyone gets an happy ending. If I didn't like how they ended Part 2, sadly, I think I'm going to be even more pissed with Part 3's ending. BUT HEY! Hopefully I'm wrong.

I personally would LOVE a "golden" ending and don't see what you mean about it taking away from the story of FF7 because like... the original game is still there, with its story intact. Remake and Rebirth are thus far riding the line between proper sequels or just wild adaptions of the OG game HARD, and the final game will allow us to see where it ultimately falls. PERSONALLY, considering how much of the story has already changed (Sephiroth being WAY more present, the Whispers, Cloud may or may not have saved Aerith in another timeline, etc.) I think it would SUCK for the story to reach the exact same conclusion we already had originally. If they were going to have the exact same ending, the changes and building up peoples' hopes and expectations of something DIFFERENT would just be cruel. I would have preferred all the main plot beats not changing AT ALL and just everything getting expanded a bit in that scenario. But since these changes already exist and ARE changing how people interpret the game and what they might want from the ending I say embrace them! The original game will always exist with its ending for those that prefer it - you can just treat the Remake trilogy as a bad sequel and ignore it (like fans collectively do for sequels they don't like in any media ALL THE TIME). I want to see a new, happier ending.

Its awesome to have a great engine powering a great story. They invested a lot in that engine and it paid off.

I’m hoping they somehow undo the KH infection the story was inflicted with in the latter half of Rebirth. The age of things being overly convoluted for the sake of it is over.
That being said, if it follows the path it was on, then Cloud is killing Zack 100%

The only thing I want or need to see to make me happy is Tifa and Cloud finally getting their happy end. The perfect ending being them sitting down with Marlene and Denzel on a blanket in a field of flowers with an obviously pregnant Tifa.
The only thing that could ruin basically any ending for me is the overly "positive" ending of Aerith and Zack being alive.
If one lives then screw it, do them both. But I don't see any version of that that I don't hate. Just end it with Tifa and Cloud being thankful for them and them being proud and happy for them from the lifestream. Honestly. Give me the pregnant Tifa scene and follow that up with the AC ending of Aerith and Zack walking into the light and I can finally close this chapter of my life with a smile.

I don't think this "thing" Kitase mentions is gonna be an AC DLC. He said it's something that wasn't in the og, but could make everyone happy if delivered properly. I don't think they already had plans for AC when they were developing FF7, so it does sound more as the "happy ending" NSP is mentioning.

I really REALLY hope they won't have a multiverse-ending where everyone gets to live on happily, just to please every fandom.
Part of good storytelling in FF7 is the grief, loss, letting go of guilt, living on despite regrets. They are a part of life most humans have to tackle at some point, and loss and fleetingness is what gives meaning to what's left behind. Stories give us this perspective before loss happens, and makes us appreciate what we have that much more. Take that away at the ending, and the story just becomes hollow fluff.

Cissnei will be playable in part 3. She has the ff “look” and fits in with the party

Please tell me there is mention of a submarine section and golden saucer game!!!!!! I think they are gonna make part 3 as sorta a alternate ending situation. in one universe you fight for, things end up like the original and maybe even a few other endings. that would be amazing but only if they do it right.

Bring Aerith back! Give us the option based on our progress who Cloud ends up with in a relationship.

I haven't played none of the remakes yet, but are they not doing dirge and advent with it? I got crisis core but it continued after the main game with dirge and advent not to mention the cell phone games

Play part 3 in two ways, the Aerith and Zach live in the prime timeline ending and the they live in the dying timeline and decide to enjoy the little time they have left together and it’s kinda sad.
Both endings are canon, you get to choose which one is canon to you lol

I really hope you're wrong about this being the end of the FF7 story. Also wow with the Shinra Archeology disrespect.
