And you left him there in the camp! What a gentle yet powerful video! Meditative and spiritual. Whew!! And no verbal words for us...yet lots was said. Thank you. David
Exceptional craftsmanship with the twang of bushcraft and lovely wildlife. I am always floored by your videos man. Keep the faith. You have some loyal followers!
Doug, you're probably tired of all my comments on your videos... I've probably watched 90% of them so far. You've been a great inspiration to this artist here in Connecticut. It's been a rough year for me but your videos have helped me cope and "keep on paddling" forward. Thank you and keep them coming please!
My husband and I are new to carving and we have the carving bug partly because of you! Thank you for sharing your craft and being in the outdoors is a plus. I want to go camping now!
Doug This has to be the BEST video ever. Thanks so much for taking the time to put it together. My husband and I watch it at least once a day. Love the dear was probably coming to see Sam, but he had company.
Mate.... you totally inspired me into action, at 66 I am going to take up whittling and carving thanks so much from Australia ...Keep the lessons coming
Brings a big smile to my face, watching you create your lil guys. Thanks Doug from a recent subscriber from the UK. I'm going to have go at making my own little guy if my arthritis in my hands allows.
Wow. This genuinely brought a smile to my face. That's a fine skill and art you have. Joe put me on to your channel. Really enjoyed the Algonquin backpacking vids and looking forward to watching the rest of them. It's great to see in this day and age, Sam being created by hand. Really appreciate it. Cheers from Scotland.
Love that you leave him in his forest . Sycamore Sam looks a bit like an older version of Doug Linker, lol. Beautiful video , Doug . Even the deer came to visit and see you at your craft . Be well and prosper .
Doug. I just started watching your vids. They’re great. Really like the combination of being out in nature, bushcraft, knives and tools, utensils, etc. please keep them coming. Oh forgot the carvings. They’re awesome. Do more carving!
You're videos have been an inspiration to me for years now Doug. This is another one that makes me forget my cynicism and tiredness and just smile. Thank you for that, it really is an inspiration not only in spirit but in video making seriously. (And this message will self destruct, I'm never this nice you never saw that!)
Hi Doug, I'm hooked been watching in lockdown for nearly 3 weeks. I'm having a go with bits of wood I've collected while walking the dog and knives I've found around the house. I've done 3 carvings up to now, can't wait to get out into the real world to pick up a couple of knives and some basswood. You are now a mentor, so keep up the good work. Thanks John
I enjoyed this video very much. Sycamore seemed very easy when watching you. You are so talented, Doug. Thanks for the lovely walk in the woods, a nice little fire, and a cup of coffee. Loved it!.. Merry Ann from Minnesota
I can't stop watching this video. it's so peaceful and relaxing. I really want to get into carving more then just whittling. I'd pay some serious money for a carving with Doug class!
Doug, great video! You got me into carving little dudes. I'm in love with your hillbillies and tonight I did your oddie tribute to Mike Shipley. It was my 2nd carving of yours, the first was a bear I got from a branch in California on a trip with the family. Not sure what type of tree it was but followed your steps and the wood was really hard so it made it tough. Thanks again for your videos and keep up the carving vids. Dean
Great video, glad you are doing more videos like this. You have a great eye for carving, your figures are fantastic. Your videos are very relaxing and entertaining at the same time

Hey, Doug. First of all, love your videos. Second, would you ever consider doing a video talking through what you carry in your backpack for outings like this one? I would be interested in seeing that.
Very nice to see this video! You really have carving skills. A cute little guy was born there in the woods. I do a kind of same thing, and it is really relaxing and fun. Right now I am working on an outdoor preist. I will put out a video later, showing how I make him. Atb Tove in Norway - we follow you after this video.
