cynthia’s family is so funny to me bc volo is literally a psychopath and cogita literally just summons enamorus to have a cup of tea with her & uses one of the arceus plates as a CUTTING BOARD and to top that they still beat your ass 😭
Yeah, on one end, Cynthia inherited her love of ruins, research, and battling tendencies from Volo, and her sass and airheaded tendencies from Cogita. That is, assuming the two either hooked up (it’d be surprising if Volo was into older women like that) or are from the same bloodline (probably the latter). Also what gets me is that Volo also seems to have a little trickling of Ghetsis in him as well, though it could just be how the writing lead of GameFreak chooses to write borderline extreme to extreme villains and the resemblance was just uncanny because they’re both blonde and have the same writer. Especially considering as far as we know, the Harmonias are native to Unova and/or one of its neighboring regions.
@@Kanethedragon I think Cogita is the true bloodline for Cynthia, and the whole ruin exploring thing just comes from the ancestry in of itself, as Cogita mentions that some went overboard with their Arceus beliefs or whatever, Volo being one of those ancient bloodline people that did just that, get too into it and sought out Arceus wanting to be something he isnt, while Cogita just followed foot on what she was to do.
Battling 8 Pokémon in a row in the most punishing Pokémon game ever hit just the right spots when I edged out a win because A-Ninetales had Ice Fang for move speed, and even then was on 10% of my last Pokémon (and my Pokémon were all in the low 70s)… this game is just awesome
In my case it took me couple tries and Volo punked me out like 4 or 5 times as my team didn’t really have the best of coverage options (thanks to trying to passively complete research tasks), and I was also underleveled a little because I bumrushed to 7* in the first area then speedran the rest of the game at which point my level gap was caught up to and surpassed by the time I reached Avalugg, and then on top of that I didn’t think to invest/use any of my grit resources so eventually when I figured I wouldn’t be beating him with about half of my team members, I decided to go catch me two extra Alpha Garchomps (half my team was Garchomps) and was eventually able to polish out a win by the skin of my teeth after one or two more losses to figure out the correct turn/move order when combining in agile/strong to properly deal enough damage to clinch through both of Giratina’s bars.
Man, it took me a lot of tries to beat Volo and his Giratina, when I finally had a good strategy and beat his giratina, I felt relief for 2 seconds but when Giratina revealed his Orgin form with another hp bar, I felt geniune fear. And I was like " thank god i beat gira- W HA T THE HELL THERES A 3RD PHASE IN THIS BOSS???????""
Volo is definitely taking the cake for most evil villain in the entire franchise. Man literally summoned Satan itself to try to lure out God and subjugate it’s power to become God himself.

Good lord, finally giratina gets som proper representation. Sadly he didn't get a new form, but honestly I'm fine with it, because holy moly did they absolutely ruin palkia and dialga with how ugly their new forms are, maybe giratina not getting one was for the best Xd

this fight blew me away. when i saw the giratina pop up i was shocked, but when it turned into its origin form and obliterated me i genuinely couldn't believe it
You think everything is over after facing Cynthia’s ancestor and then BAM, you are battling the Pokemon equivalent of Lucifer with no rest! Holy crap, it looks like they won’t be pulling punches with this one!
Why pull punches when you can walk in with a togekiss and a starraptor, and basically just resist 90% of that ENTIRE 3 part fight. Even with just togekiss, it resists all but one move Giratina has, and that move can only hit 5 times. swap out to a normal type soon as the fight starts, and it wastes its entire first 2 hits on a mon that is immune. swap back to togekiss, and it wastes again.
What feels can give you gen 5,it’s a poorly made generation just slightly better then 6 and 8 and maybe around the same level as gen 1,the only good thing in BW is the plot,the rest is whatever.BW2 are good games but BW?Heck no!They are boring and they force you to use only gen 5 pokemons which at least 60% of them if not more it’s trash that I hate.
This fight was the most epic in history ever for two reasons. 1. This mission has no hints of indicating you will face a final boss in postgame , making you unprepared. 2. The villian twist is hard to expect.

@@Aego384 Legends Arceus is officially listed as a main series game though, which implies we might see some of the improvements this game made in future Pokémon main series games.
One thing I really like from what I've seen from the battles in this game, is that you see the battle from behind the trainer and not the pokemon. Maybe it's less dynamic, but I really like how it looks.
It's a better angle than SwSh for sure but It kinda makes me miss the changing shots used in PBR and the gamecube games even more. I feel like the pokemon aren't moving enough for the single static angle to work, not to mention there's almost a whole half of the screen that's empty save for the opposing trainer.

Just finished the battle myself. Volo almost wiped me out, I had two pokemon left with low HP. After I defeated him we went straight into battle with Giratina. None of my Pokemon were healed between the cutscene. Giratina had moves that were super effective to my whole team. It was such a slog (with almost using up all my revives and hyper potions) to simply stay afloat. But we prevailed in the end. What a battle! My Umbreon, Espeon, Ninetales, Garchomp, shiny Rapidash, and shiny Luxray were awesome! Such a shame you couldn't catch Giratina as I was trying to.
I’m so glad we have a fight that’s hard again, we haven’t had one since red in hgss and in those games it’s because he was overleveled but this guy has the same level range as most players’ teams and he still kicks their asses and the fact there are multiple phases all with 3 of my favorite sinnoh osts is so cool! I was raging so hard at this fight lmao game freak please make more games like this
The turn order being affect by moves is a good idea, but attaching that system to Pokemon battles just isn't as interesting as FFX's battle system. The larger party, the different buff, debuffs, elements, etc. made you prepare several turns in advanced. Here, pokemon go down in like 2 attacks, why bother planning? And with only 4 moves per Mon, you can't do as much with that system. Still better than Dynamax tho. Also, they still can't abandon that Gameboy camera. Being able to move around while the pokemon fight is cool, but they're so far away from the camera, and the camera is just completely static otherwise, there's no gravity to the battle, there's no cut ins or dynamic angles besides the style change, no camera shake, no close ups. PBR is still more visually appealing.
@@merindo5267 I don't think we are counting side series games or trainer battles. There have been some decent trainer bosses in the past but very few wild Pokemon bosses.
There are some things about this Pokémon game I don't like but this is without a doubt one of the best 3d Pokémon games yet. I can't believe people like verlisify would rather play swsh than pla.
What do you think of this game so far? from what ive seen, it seems to be a really big jump from the other 3d games, certainly a big step from the old games and quite creative as well im glad they finally broke the formula, although its not without its flaws - the graphics still look relatively dated for the switch - I heared that there arent abilities anymore, which is a bit of a step down - pokemons cant follow you, sadly, but based on their other pokemon follow attempts, less may be more in this case
The game's great! It reminds of BOTW in that it has a lot of flaws as a result of trying out a totally new formula for the series. But thinking about the potential of Pokemon games now is exciting after this game!

@@UltimaD. It was basically a gentlemen’s agreement, Giratina helps him get to Arceus, Giratina then gets to throw hands with god. In return, Volo would do what he can to make that goal a reality by doing the things Giratina couldn’t, such as exploring human settlements, looking for the other plates, and other types of networking.
this battle is the biggest middle finger there is in the entire franchise. Just when you thought "hey that isn't too bad", they reply "screw you, i'll make you fight 8 pokemon and 2 of them are 680 bst legends."
Play Pokemon stadium 2 second round. When you miss thunder 5 times in a row, your opponent survives with 1 HP due to focus band 2 times, and bite flinches you 4 consecutive turns, you'll know what a middle finger is.
Not so sure. There is a lady in the colosseum gauntlet who is very late into it. She has an entire team designed to end runs by using an explosion strategy to wipe out your team. I feel she's still the bigger middle finger seeing as there was around 80+ platforms you'd have climbed at that point.

Took me some good time and changing my entire team, my Togekiss truly was the MVP. You can stall him with Baby Doll Eyes + Heal so it gets low on shadow force so it can't be cloaked. Thank you Gengar, Garchomp, Heatran, Galade, Octilery, Togekiss
After losing to this guy 5 times I was forced to pull out the full squad of legendaries... Didn't make the fight any easier and Volo still swept the floor with me, but it was pretty cool thematically.
I just love how these battles are meant to wear you down only to have Origin Giratina finish you off! Volo can take care of a good chunk of your team, Alternate Giratina tanks a lot you throw at it, and if you only have one pokemon when Origin Giratina comes out, he will have the power to one shot you or the speed to double attack you!
The music started and I had flashbacks. Now I know the truth, Cynthia's so good at traumatizing you because it's a family trait passed through the generations.
Ok, I'm not sure if that ending (other than the obvious OoT/MM death sound) was edited, but if not, that's actually a very impressive level of detail from GF to have a custom game over screen/transition for losing this specific fight. Love when games have custom screens like this to really emphasis the importance of that particular instance, rather than the ususal 'well, I blacked out, I'll just give it another try').
This game is honestly peak pokemon for me sure some stuff can drag like the tutorials but I think it's successes in its mission to break the pokemon formula and evolve it into something new and better

Not only that though, his idea to remake the world as far as he puts it isn’t anything grand like Cyrus’ either, he just wants to see how far he can go and what he can do to satisfy his own curiosity. Man’s basically the antithesis to Cyrus even if they share a similar goal, and his partnering up with Giratina was literally a gentlemen’s agreement where he’s like “You help me find god and I’ll let you punch him in the face.” Arguably some of the greatest free real estate for meme content the series has ever had to date.

Yet the game itself has been really enjoyable so far, that's one of the things it lacked for decades. There's one huge difference between setting up standards and being a literal extremist.

I was thinking, this formula of managing pokemon like a final fantasy game, with boss battles, conclusive storilines, telling old stories of pokemon, in different periods of time, regions (maybe universes in the future, cause time travels might change things), might be beneficial for the franchise, now that they plan not to include all pokemon or moves again in a pkmn game. Nobody complains if the bosses from FFX don't appear in FFXII, or if we have access to the same items, we see the same creatures, etc., cause we have another thing, and a whole new world to explore, and new ways to do it, which itself is the main attractive of this games. Finally no more Pokemon games like diamond and pearl that only offer you a bunch of new creatures to grab your money.
So, what if someone just accidentally walked into this battle with a starraptor and a togekiss? Because I just realized that flying and normal is immune to like, 90%, of this ENTIRE FIGHT.
Having a decent postgame and being able to 100% the game without trading alone make this worth it for me. Nevermind all the quality of life, world design improvements, scaling fixes, etc. It sure as shit ain’t perfect (it looks pretty close to great at best), but it’s a massive step in the right direction. Now if the higher ups would just stop rushing the ACTUAL workers, maybe we could get something bigger that the series truly deserves.

I beat that Giratina yesterday and was shocked that they didn't heal your Pokémon after each time. It was amazing. I started the Origin Giratina fight with only my Alpha Togekiss at Level 70 with 8 HP! Full Potions and Baby-Doll Eyes with Moonblast managed to be enough to defeat Giratina but just barely. One false move and I would have lost entirely. This is something I want to see in every other mainline game from now on. Even the Exp.Share wasn't this much of a problem in this game. I hope this is how Pokémon goes forward starting from now.
Can’t wait for your review. To me this a biased 8/10. What it lacked in technical and graphic issues, it made up for with a fresh experience, engaging gameplay and an actual kinda of compelling story which had it’s ups and downs( voice acting can’t get here fast enough) … Never had so much fun with a Pokémon game in my life. If this is the direction we’re headed I can’t wait to see more.
I just beat Volo and Giratina yesterday. It took me like 10 tries with my favorite team (no Legendaries). It was tough and really fun. I also liked how you included the KH3 quote in the end. It would be cool to see your victory in another video, perhaps that video starting where this one ended.
Honestly i got spoiled because he appeared in a thumbnail while I was searching for a song but, I expect a break too heal or auto heal before fighting a legendary based on what had happened in alot of games but it just threw me right into battle with no heal and my Pokemon had 10 hp...and it didn't go first.
That was one trolly critical at the end... i personally used lv 85 cresselia against him until giratina transformed, he had a bit too much attack gain while enhanced so i used my umbreon instead and revived her as a precaution as well. failed to one shot or cut half my umbreons health with minimal attacks and made this part pretty easy. i had that same umbreon for the entire game, does wonders when i want to heal party members since almost nothing can one hit him (even legendaries wouldnt do more than one fourth of his health per hit and most attacks did less than this). all the non boss legends outside the enamorus questline (this one is VERY annoying so all i can say is good luck there) i just used sticky globs and gigaton balls so those were simple
this boss fight was amazing, but to not give away the surprise that quickly of girantina not fainting he should have fainted, then comees out of the ground in the shadow thing like in platinum with his origin form
...he didn't just go "witness my true power", but outright instant strong style too? Bruh, I know he's meant to be seriously hard, but Giratina didn't have to do you >that< dirty
Mann, i underestimate him. I thought this final battle will be like other pokemon game so I just brought my 3 main pokemon ( liligant, glaceon, lopunny ( 79, 81, 79 ). Beat his pokemon, then giratina show up.. almost lost after that, it change to 2nd form and messed up everything. Thank you aura sphere combined with shadow force. And that new system called style. Haha, really love this final boss.
Yeah I really struggled with this fight hell in my first attempt I barely beat volo then giratina appeared and I was scared. I then barely won with 1 Mon left and then it transformed into origin form and one shot me.

You think everything is over after facing Cynthia’s ancestor and then BAM, you are battling the Pokemon equivalent of Lucifer with no rest! Holy crap, it looks like they won’t be pulling punches with this one!

Why pull punches when you can walk in with a togekiss and a starraptor, and basically just resist 90% of that ENTIRE 3 part fight. Even with just togekiss, it resists all but one move Giratina has, and that move can only hit 5 times. swap out to a normal type soon as the fight starts, and it wastes its entire first 2 hits on a mon that is immune. swap back to togekiss, and it wastes again.

What feels can give you gen 5,it’s a poorly made generation just slightly better then 6 and 8 and maybe around the same level as gen 1,the only good thing in BW is the plot,the rest is whatever.BW2 are good games but BW?Heck no!They are boring and they force you to use only gen 5 pokemons which at least 60% of them if not more it’s trash that I hate.

This fight was the most epic in history ever for two reasons.
1. This mission has no hints of indicating you will face a final boss in postgame , making you unprepared.
2. The villian twist is hard to expect.
Until about 2 noble pokemon in, I did expect it, but then I started to think he wasn't gonna be a twist villain lol
3. The Surprise appearance of Giratina, as well as its form changing during Boss Battle.
i'd like to imagine that the moment where Giratina appears and gets close to the screen to scream is a small nod to the ''Giratina Jumpscare'' in platinum

One thing I really like from what I've seen from the battles in this game, is that you see the battle from behind the trainer and not the pokemon.
Maybe it's less dynamic, but I really like how it looks.
It's better than.... you know..... STANDING BETWEEN THEM WHEN THEY GO GODZILLAMODE!!!!!
It's a better angle than SwSh for sure but It kinda makes me miss the changing shots used in PBR and the gamecube games even more. I feel like the pokemon aren't moving enough for the single static angle to work, not to mention there's almost a whole half of the screen that's empty save for the opposing trainer.
also you can move your trainer around during battles
If you stand too close to your Pokemon in battle you can actually get knocked over by your or the enemy's Pokemon moves. It's the little things.

Just finished the battle myself. Volo almost wiped me out, I had two pokemon left with low HP. After I defeated him we went straight into battle with Giratina. None of my Pokemon were healed between the cutscene. Giratina had moves that were super effective to my whole team. It was such a slog (with almost using up all my revives and hyper potions) to simply stay afloat. But we prevailed in the end. What a battle! My Umbreon, Espeon, Ninetales, Garchomp, shiny Rapidash, and shiny Luxray were awesome!
Such a shame you couldn't catch Giratina as I was trying to.

I’m so glad we have a fight that’s hard again, we haven’t had one since red in hgss and in those games it’s because he was overleveled but this guy has the same level range as most players’ teams and he still kicks their asses and the fact there are multiple phases all with 3 of my favorite sinnoh osts is so cool! I was raging so hard at this fight lmao game freak please make more games like this

The turn order being affect by moves is a good idea, but attaching that system to Pokemon battles just isn't as interesting as FFX's battle system. The larger party, the different buff, debuffs, elements, etc. made you prepare several turns in advanced. Here, pokemon go down in like 2 attacks, why bother planning? And with only 4 moves per Mon, you can't do as much with that system. Still better than Dynamax tho.
Also, they still can't abandon that Gameboy camera. Being able to move around while the pokemon fight is cool, but they're so far away from the camera, and the camera is just completely static otherwise, there's no gravity to the battle, there's no cut ins or dynamic angles besides the style change, no camera shake, no close ups. PBR is still more visually appealing.
I see I'm not the only one reminded of ffx. As soon as I saw the turn order bar on the right I thought of ffx

There are some things about this Pokémon game I don't like but this is without a doubt one of the best 3d Pokémon games yet. I can't believe people like verlisify would rather play swsh than pla.

from what ive seen, it seems to be a really big jump from the other 3d games, certainly a big step from the old games and quite creative as well im glad they finally broke the formula, although its not without its flaws
- the graphics still look relatively dated for the switch
- I heared that there arent abilities anymore, which is a bit of a step down
- pokemons cant follow you, sadly, but based on their other pokemon follow attempts, less may be more in this case
The game's great! It reminds of BOTW in that it has a lot of flaws as a result of trying out a totally new formula for the series.
But thinking about the potential of Pokemon games now is exciting after this game!

I think at that time Giratina still wanted to throw some hand with Arceus so he saw a ideal and accepted
@@UltimaD. It was basically a gentlemen’s agreement, Giratina helps him get to Arceus, Giratina then gets to throw hands with god. In return, Volo would do what he can to make that goal a reality by doing the things Giratina couldn’t, such as exploring human settlements, looking for the other plates, and other types of networking.
this battle is the biggest middle finger there is in the entire franchise. Just when you thought "hey that isn't too bad", they reply "screw you, i'll make you fight 8 pokemon and 2 of them are 680 bst legends."
Play Pokemon stadium 2 second round. When you miss thunder 5 times in a row, your opponent survives with 1 HP due to focus band 2 times, and bite flinches you 4 consecutive turns, you'll know what a middle finger is.
Not so sure. There is a lady in the colosseum gauntlet who is very late into it. She has an entire team designed to end runs by using an explosion strategy to wipe out your team. I feel she's still the bigger middle finger seeing as there was around 80+ platforms you'd have climbed at that point.

Took me some good time and changing my entire team, my Togekiss truly was the MVP. You can stall him with Baby Doll Eyes + Heal so it gets low on shadow force so it can't be cloaked.

After losing to this guy 5 times I was forced to pull out the full squad of legendaries... Didn't make the fight any easier and Volo still swept the floor with me, but it was pretty cool thematically.

I just love how these battles are meant to wear you down only to have Origin Giratina finish you off! Volo can take care of a good chunk of your team, Alternate Giratina tanks a lot you throw at it, and if you only have one pokemon when Origin Giratina comes out, he will have the power to one shot you or the speed to double attack you!

Ok, I'm not sure if that ending (other than the obvious OoT/MM death sound) was edited, but if not, that's actually a very impressive level of detail from GF to have a custom game over screen/transition for losing this specific fight. Love when games have custom screens like this to really emphasis the importance of that particular instance, rather than the ususal 'well, I blacked out, I'll just give it another try').

Basically lol. Not only that though, his idea to remake the world as far as he puts it isn’t anything grand like Cyrus’ either, he just wants to see how far he can go and what he can do to satisfy his own curiosity. Man’s basically the antithesis to Cyrus even if they share a similar goal, and his partnering up with Giratina was literally a gentlemen’s agreement where he’s like “You help me find god and I’ll let you punch him in the face.” Arguably some of the greatest free real estate for meme content the series has ever had to date.

Volo wanted to meet arceus then subjugate it and uses its powers for his own whims. and cyrus didnt do his homework cause he tried to use palkia and dialga which as we have seen from this game cannot remake the world only ya know potentially destroy it. If cyrus really wanted to totally remake the world and not have arcues just fix everything cause he totaly could, arceus is the one he should have been after but then again he didnt know of his existence so you cant really blame him.
@@multilink1748 i think everyone knows about arceus since it is god. palkia and dialga can actually make new universes, either on their own or together. he could’ve also just wanted them to destroy this universe & “transport” him to another one, since both palkia and dialga have the power to do that

Bet, it’ll be either a 3 phase fight through all of Necrozma’s forms (well, 3 out of 4) of a 4 phase fight like this where it’s one whole trainer battle followed by 3 phases of Necrozma (Regular, Dawn/Dusk, Ultra).

Yes, this game's landscape often looks like ass, and the final bosses are a joke.
Yet the game itself has been really enjoyable so far, that's one of the things it lacked for decades.

I was thinking, this formula of managing pokemon like a final fantasy game, with boss battles, conclusive storilines, telling old stories of pokemon, in different periods of time, regions (maybe universes in the future, cause time travels might change things), might be beneficial for the franchise, now that they plan not to include all pokemon or moves again in a pkmn game. Nobody complains if the bosses from FFX don't appear in FFXII, or if we have access to the same items, we see the same creatures, etc., cause we have another thing, and a whole new world to explore, and new ways to do it, which itself is the main attractive of this games. Finally no more Pokemon games like diamond and pearl that only offer you a bunch of new creatures to grab your money.
So, what if someone just accidentally walked into this battle with a starraptor and a togekiss? Because I just realized that flying and normal is immune to like, 90%, of this ENTIRE FIGHT.

Having a decent postgame and being able to 100% the game without trading alone make this worth it for me. Nevermind all the quality of life, world design improvements, scaling fixes, etc. It sure as shit ain’t perfect (it looks pretty close to great at best), but it’s a massive step in the right direction. Now if the higher ups would just stop rushing the ACTUAL workers, maybe we could get something bigger that the series truly deserves.

I beat that Giratina yesterday and was shocked that they didn't heal your Pokémon after each time. It was amazing. I started the Origin Giratina fight with only my Alpha Togekiss at Level 70 with 8 HP! Full Potions and Baby-Doll Eyes with Moonblast managed to be enough to defeat Giratina but just barely. One false move and I would have lost entirely. This is something I want to see in every other mainline game from now on. Even the Exp.Share wasn't this much of a problem in this game. I hope this is how Pokémon goes forward starting from now.

Can’t wait for your review. To me this a biased 8/10. What it lacked in technical and graphic issues, it made up for with a fresh experience, engaging gameplay and an actual kinda of compelling story which had it’s ups and downs( voice acting can’t get here fast enough) …
Never had so much fun with a Pokémon game in my life. If this is the direction we’re headed I can’t wait to see more.

I just beat Volo and Giratina yesterday. It took me like 10 tries with my favorite team (no Legendaries). It was tough and really fun. I also liked how you included the KH3 quote in the end. It would be cool to see your victory in another video, perhaps that video starting where this one ended.

Some Pokémon are “alphas” which are meant to be huge like totem Pokémon from sun and moon but even bigger
Honestly i got spoiled because he appeared in a thumbnail while I was searching for a song but, I expect a break too heal or auto heal before fighting a legendary based on what had happened in alot of games but it just threw me right into battle with no heal and my Pokemon had 10 hp...and it didn't go first.

That was one trolly critical at the end... i personally used lv 85 cresselia against him until giratina transformed, he had a bit too much attack gain while enhanced so i used my umbreon instead and revived her as a precaution as well. failed to one shot or cut half my umbreons health with minimal attacks and made this part pretty easy.
i had that same umbreon for the entire game, does wonders when i want to heal party members since almost nothing can one hit him (even legendaries wouldnt do more than one fourth of his health per hit and most attacks did less than this). all the non boss legends outside the enamorus questline (this one is VERY annoying so all i can say is good luck there) i just used sticky globs and gigaton balls so those were simple

Mann, i underestimate him. I thought this final battle will be like other pokemon game so I just brought my 3 main pokemon ( liligant, glaceon, lopunny ( 79, 81, 79 ). Beat his pokemon, then giratina show up.. almost lost after that, it change to 2nd form and messed up everything.
Thank you aura sphere combined with shadow force. And that new system called style.

Yeah I really struggled with this fight hell in my first attempt I barely beat volo then giratina appeared and I was scared. I then barely won with 1 Mon left and then it transformed into origin form and one shot me.
