    Thank you for this Video. I got this machine from my mother who can no longer sew. It was used many years and sounded a bit "dry". With your instructions I opened the machine and was able to make it run smoothly again. My mother and I would like to thank you very much for keeping these old and trusty machines alive.

      A small amount of fat cannot be harmful, it is my long experience. The theory that the grease will destroy the gear has no basis. Bernina 830 is an old sewing machine and gear and grease production technology has changed a lot.

    Thank you so much for this video. I rediscovered my old bernina 830 a few weeks ago in the loft. The last time I tried it out was about 20 years ago. At that time the capacitor blew, and I had no idea what had happened and was frightened to look. Now I'm older and wiser, so I opened it up last week, discovered the broken capacitor, was lucky enough to track down a replacement, and fitted it myself. The motor is now purring away like a kitten. However, the needle wasn't going up and down, so today I followed your helpful oiling instructions. It appeared to have loosened things up, and I was able to turn the needle manually. However, it's now stuck again. Although the motor is working the power doesn't seem to be transferring power to the sewing mechanism. Could it be a loose drive belt? Do you have any ideas. I know I could take the machine in for repair, but I feel as though I've done so much myself already that it could be something I could attempt myself. I'm pretty brave (and a cheapskate!) Any suggestions would be most welcome. Thank you.

    • @MasinskiKutak
      @MasinskiKutak  4 года назад +1

      Remove the side cover and inspect the condition of the belts.
      How the machine behaves when winding the lower thread, whether the motor runs smoothly and whether the flywheel lock is correct..?
      Unscrew the flywheel lock, hold the flywheel lightly with your hand, start the machine, if the belts are loose, they will slip.

      the problem is that my English is very bad, I often use google translator, misunderstandings are possible.
      Sewing machine lubricating oil cannot be mineral, when you buy sewing machine lubricating oil it must be 100% synthetic and without the presence of acids. I can't recommend a brand for ointment, I just don't know, ointment is not necessary, you can only use oil.

    • @MasinskiKutak
      @MasinskiKutak  4 года назад

      It can be fixed, it's not a big breakdown, maybe someone used to lubricate it with inadequate oil, the old grease may dry out which blocks the needle from moving left to right. If your sewing machine sews zigzag quite normally then there is a problem with the button to move the needle. Warming up the jammed mechanism can give a good result, remove the top cover and heat the mechanism from the inside, behind the button to move the needle, you can use a hair dryer for heating, feel free to try.... Thank you so much for the flowers and best regards to you in the Netherlands. 🙂

      @rob
      How you cannot adjust the speed, is the machine always running at maximum speed, when you press the pedal all the way.?

      @@MasinskiKutak Hello ,thanks for your quick answer, yes between zero pedel and max pedel dear is almost no difference its almost direct full speed, the rpm switch is working well. Is the pedel working with a big potmeter? Maybe he is not working properly.

      The pedal to your Bernina is probably faulty. This can usually be improved.
      It is necessary to open the pedal and completely disassemble it, the graphite sheets inside the ceramic case are glued, it needs to be separated, the work is a little tangible and inconvenient.
      The attached link will see something very similar and you gave me an idea for a new video clip, I'll do it when I have time.

    This looks very similar to the 801 which I have (there is only one manual is for 801,801 and 830) - BUT - the top does not lift off like in this video. Is there a hidden screw somewhere?

    • @MasinskiKutak
      @MasinskiKutak  5 лет назад +1

      No hidden screw... Do not use force.!
      For the 800 models without carrying handle, the locking of the lid is on the inside.
      We open the head cover where the lamp is inside (only open at the back).
      We see the knurled screw on the top left ... this we press inwards (against the machine) .. sometimes it's easy sometimes a little harder. ... the lid jumps open in the normal case.

      @@MasinskiKutak Thanks very much. I would never have thought to push the knurled screw inwards. I might have tried to unscrew it... glad I didn't.

    What type of grease do you use I went to the fabric store and they only have oil

    • @MasinskiKutak
      @MasinskiKutak  3 года назад +1

      It is best to use synthetic ointment, or it can be without ointment.
      you can only use sewing machine oil

    The zig zag and embroidery stitches stopped working on my Bernina Record 830. It has been mostly idle for 2 or 3 years and has not been cleaned or oiled far longer. When cleaning and oiling, I determined the silver colored lever inside the machine that slips forward and back into the black slots to engage the zig zag feature failed to move fully into the slots either forward or backward. I oiled around the lever and can manually press the lever into the black slots and the zig zag works, but this can only be achieved manually; the outside lever moves, appears to be functioning fully, but the internal lever does not fully enter the black slots. Apply more oil? Any suggestions?

      I assume you mean this part 3:41
      It must be determined whether any of the parts is stationary, and all the intended parts must be moved in bearing.
      In any case, lubrication is the first option; you can also use a spray agent to dissolve the corrosion and grease deposits if necessary.

    On the Bernina 830 record electronic machine, the roller of the thread winding mechanism on the bobbin does not contact the motor pulley. I can't figure out what the reason is and fix this problem. Please help with the advice!

    • @MasinskiKutak
      @MasinskiKutak  2 года назад

      Maybe the rubber flange just wore out,?
      you switch on the winding mechanism but the roller does not press hard enough on the pulley.

    • @alexahmatov7400
      @alexahmatov7400 2 года назад

      Thank you for your reply! I solved this problem in this way: I removed the roller mechanism, lubricated it with oil and developed the rotation of the roller with my hands, after which it easily began to rotate and wind the bobbin. The car didn't work for a long time, I had to lubricate everything, now it works like clockwork! There was one problem with the rotation of the middle handle, it did not rotate at all, I did not disassemble and remove the panel yet, but simply oiled it as best I could. It's spinning now, but very tight.@@MasinskiKutak

      Great 👍
      take advantage of the situation and lubricate the entire machine.
