Because her score for Waitress was in the running for Best Score in the 2016 edition, which means it had to compete against Hamilton. And Hamilton swept brutally, winning every major category award, plus almost every award it was nominated for. It's a shame that her work was overshadowed this badly, but it's a fact.

But Sara is like 70% of the entire process of one of her songs releasing. She does an unimaginable amount to make art and it shows.

Sara Bareilles is 10 years older than Taylor Swift, more or less, and you could've named a lot of american singers who were bad songwriters and you named one of a fewthat really are good! I think that SB's lyrics are even better, but TS is a really good songwriter!

I’ll take a “one hit wonder” who actually has a great overall catalogue, over a constant chart topper who’s catalogue is crap. Hits don’t mean ‘good’. One hit wonder literally means that it’s the only song people seem to know from an artist because it’s the only one that charted really well.

I thought she was a 1 hit wonder. But she's a 2 hit wonder.
She wrote a lot of music for Broadway. The most famous one I think was from the musical “waitress”, she used to be mine.
