I remember trying to get my 2 yr. old to come have a nap with Mummy. It pretty much played out the same way, Mummy napping with one eye open and my toddler trying to lure me into a wrestling match. I really miss those days! Kayembe is a sweet soul
Kayembe gets bigger, playful and beautiful every day, but poor baby he just wants mom's attention and to play with them but it seems that no one is willing.😢❤❤❤❤
Oooh - li'l man was getting cross that no-one would play with him! 😄 Taking his frustration out on a cardboard box, smacking Freddie in the head and climbing all over Nneka and nobody takes a bit of notice! They have 3 pens, plus lower level we cannot see, and outdoor area weather permitting. Nneka did not show proper maternal care with Kayembe. The pen is cleaned daily and the clutter is placed there on purpose and changed daily (enrichment). And realize the jungle floor is dense with vegetation, where you often don’t have a “set” path clear enough to walk through, and see what lies ahead.
Someone please tell me this is not the whole enclosure I'm seeing here 4 these gorillas ? Also,what's up with the trash in the enclosure?Why are there cereal boxes all over the place? The ink on that is not safe for them to put in their mouths and chew on,plus u don't know who else touched those boxes. What if someone had a virus, coughed into their hand, then touched one of those boxes? Your gorillas could get sick. You can't sanitize cardboard. Get them toys and blankets like a normal zoo please. After all ,gorillas are always a zoos money maker,so this zoo profits off their existence. The least they can do is make sure that existence is a happy ,exciting and healthy one. Every captive great ape deserves that. Every captive animal deserves that,but even more so great apes &orcas. Really, whom neither should ever be captive, but unfortunately they are ,so while they are.......
Hello, there are 3 areas, all have 2 passages connect each one. The cereal boxes are indeed safe, they are placed there as enrichment. Snacks are hidden in different places. The boxes are removed daily and replaced with other objects. The cardboard is indeed safe. Remember, tree bark is normally consumed by gorillas . They receive excellent health care and plenty of appropriate food / nourishment.

Their pen looks too small and cluttered. Does Nneka have any maternal instincts?

@@larrysanimalsafariCleveland doesn’t have the biggest enclosure for the gorillas but the zoo is world class. The troop is well cared for.
