NARROWBOAT Living - Swollen CANAL and CRUISING with friends! Bridge 58 to Blisworth! Ep70

- Опубликовано: 13 сен 2024
- In this week’s video we leave the mooring at bridge 58 and cruise our NARROWBOAT floating home through to Blisworth. This time though, we are travelling with our good friends Caroline & Pete who we met last year on the Llangollen. We haven’t seen them since the Crick boat show back at the end of May, so it was lovely to catch up with them and cruise together for a while. The water levels were really high and lots of excess water running off of the canal and onto flood plains and water also running off of the land and into the canal. We go through the Stoke Bruerne double locks, working as a good team, and then carried on through Blisworth Tunnel to where we moor up at Blisworth.
Hope you enjoy this week’s vlog! xx 😃

Although very wet Blisworth tunnel is my favourite of all
Hi Amanda, it certainly is wet in there lol and yes, definitely one of the better tunnels! Thank you so much for your comment Amanda, really appreciate it! xx
Blimey. That was a lot of water. Loving the gang plank, good Job Martin. All them leaves will give Martin something to do and keep him out of mischief (well maybe not) love to you guys ❤️
Aww thank you! Miss you guys, hope you’re enjoying the Golly this year, you can take your time this year, such a lovely canal, speak soon xx ❤️
your spot on about the flooding problems Julie. Martin! you got me again with the horn! Twice!
I must say it look very pretty this time of year. Be safe and enjoy your self's. "this is the Way"
Thanks Steve! Yes the flooding issue is so frustrating, we know of at least three building developments building on flood plains, so inevitably will affect the neighbouring villages 🤷♀️ You’re right, this time of year can be so pretty on the water, with all the Autumn colours. Lol, Martin and his horn, keeps me on my toes lol 😂 Thanks again Steve! xx
I love watching vlogs when ya all travel together, I also follow One Day More Aboard and Narrowboat Life Unlocked
Yes, it’s lovely when we cruise together, we’re hoping to meet up with One Day More Aboard in a few weeks time, and will be seeing everyone at the Crick Boat show too! Thank you Bette, we love seeing your comments and thank you so much for the coffees too, we really appreciate it! xx 😘
Totally agree with you regarding flood Plains the developers don't CARE also developers😢😢
Yes, it’s awful to see isn’t it, they just seem to build anywhere regardless! xx
Seeing two of my favorite vloggers traveling together is so much fun! Love this! And the boys with their toys giving the wildlife a scare, what are you like, eey?❤
Aww Eric, that’s a lovely thing to say! It’s lovely travelling with friends, we had a good giggle, we’re meeting up again at the Crick boat show, can’t wait!
And yes, the fellas do like their hooters lol 😂 Thanks Eric! xx
@@JulieandMartinonRIB as Heidi would say:’everyone on the cut knows Martin likes a biggun!’
😂😂🤣
Y'all are so smart!! I would never make it as a boater. Enjoy your adventures! Hugs!
Aww thank you Vicky, I’m sure you would be fine, you’d love it, thank you so much xx
Great video as always looks lovely tell Martin stop playing with his horn 😂xx
😂😂😂🤣 He does love that horn lol 😂 thanks David xx
@@JulieandMartinonRIB yes tell me about it haha 😂 xx
I invariably watch your vlogs quite late in the evening when all is quiet. I stop work and sit down with my knitting in peace - until Martin hits that horn!! Makes me jump out of my skin!
@@davidcragg2550 😂😂🤣
@@pilpelet100 oh Ruth, I’m so sorry! He is a ratbag with that horn lol 😂 Hope it doesn’t spoil it too much for you 🥰 xx
Lovely vlog. Love it when you’re travelling with friends. Totally agree re building on flood plains - recipe for disaster.
Hope you’re somewhere good for Christmas, with friends or family too.
Aww thanks Mishka xx It is lovely when you meet up with friends again, thank you so much for your lovely comment xx

Battle of the horns ,at the start , i think Martin was the winner , Go Martin go.
Haha John, so funny! 🤣 xx
Just discovered your channel Julie
Like the adventures and Martin with the boat hooter made me chuckle
Hi John, it’s lovely to have you with us, thank you! xx

Aww thank you so much Maryanne, so nice of you to say! xx
I have just subscribed to One day more Aboard xx❤
Aww that’s lovely thank you xx
What a fab video and so great to look back on these memories! Poppy loved watching herself and her Uncle Martin of course! Those black clouds were very black weren’t they. We were so lucky to stay dry for most of the day! 😮
Did you notice Pete’s impression of Martin lol 👍 Loved Poppy & Hamish’s little faces on the boat in the lock, so cute! Thank you! xx
So nice to see the 4 of you and Hamish and poppy. That is a lot of water and wow missing those black clouds was a godsend 😅😊😊
@@jacquelineryde7339 aww thanks Jacqui, it was lovely spending time together, albeit for only a few days. Poppy & Hamish just looked so cute looking up at me in that lock. Hope you and Nark are well too! xx
Saw you passed Ticking along, he featured on Channel 4 floating homes, think his name is Colin if I remember, met him on the Ashby 2/3 years ago. As you mentioned various storms we've had recently we did the Atherstone flight on Tuesday, the rain was biblical & dark by the time we got to the top......as I say to Alison its character building....not a life for today's snowflakes!!!! Great watching as always.
Yes, we know Colin, we were moored with him at the marina, his boat is lovely! The weather has been atrocious hasn’t it, but we carry on don’t we 😃 like you say, definitely not for today’s snowflakes lol 😂 Thanks Michael! xx
Great vlog guys such lovely views colour's there is only one part of season that beats that is spring flowers New life baby birds and more warming colour's nice to have friends to travel with keep up great vlogs guys
Hi Nicholas, you’re right, Spring is wonderful, everything bursting into life and warmer temperatures, but absolutely love the Autumn colours too! Thank you so much! xx
Luv how quiet your boat is im no fan of those old noisy bangers😊
Aww thank you so much! xx
In your intro, those rock walls are amazing! Where are they?
Hi, it’s a part of Woodseaves Cutting on the Shropshire Union Canal, it is spectacular! Here’s a link to our video when we did that journey, ruclips.net/video/06OAd1nM0no/видео.htmlsi=oqPKl2GdX80TXHar at one point I say it like being in a fairytale! It’s a stunning stretch of canal, thank you! xx
Thank you. I simply must see that first hand! 🌷
@@NotMolly-jf2rh it is beautiful xx
Pete and Caroline seem to be on a lot of videos. Will they be making their own soon? They have a lovely boat and two lovely dogs.
Hi Bernadette, thank you so much for watching. Yes, they do have their own vlog, I put their channel link in the description of this video. One Day More Aboard. Thanks! xx
Thank you , that is so good to know and I have subscribed to their channel. @@JulieandMartinonRIB
Fab vlog as always. So lovely you're travelling along with friends, it's nice to have the company I'm sure! I have, what might be, a silly question.... You mentioned the winter moorings. If I were CCing how would I know they're winter moorings, are they signs? I'd be concerned mooring up for 2 weeks that I'm in a winter mooring spot! Thank you! Claire x
Hi Claire, not a silly question! CRT winter moorings are signposted. They are regular moorings for the rest of the year, it from 1st November to 31st March, they can be booked with CRT. If no-one is moored there, you can moor for the usual 14 days, but if someone turns up that has booked the mooring you would have to move. Hope this helps! Thank you so much for your compliments xx
@@JulieandMartinonRIB ah, I see! Thank you very much for that explanation, I’m so confused with it all & I don’t even have a boat yet! Every day is a learning day! X 🤦🏻♀️😂
@@DreamyDrifter...and_away... you’ll be surprised, everything is really straightforward and relatively simple, it’s a gentle life. Once you get your boat you’ll see xx
@@JulieandMartinonRIB thank you for your words of support x
With all the water and flooding I guess it’s a good thing that Britain doesn’t have the water snakes that we have across the pond. 😮
OMG! Yes, we only have grass snakes which are only small, definitely wouldn’t want anything bigger!! 🫣 Thank you Norman! xx
@@JulieandMartinonRIBbut we do get water snakes I have even had them come on the boat on the river Thames but they are harmless
@@dianehargrave6747 yes Diane, they are grass snakes, they love swimming in rivers and canals 😃 xx
I agree with you can't understand why they build on flood planes money I think x
Thanks Lorraine, it’s infuriating isn’t it, places that have never flooded before now seem to be regularly flooding and like you say, all down to money! Thank you! xx
Well what would you know, stunning scenery, tunnels and wildlife, well Caroline amd Pete 😂😂
Two naughty horny boys 😅
Great to.see you meeting up with friends and spending some time catching up 😊
lol, we actually lived up to our intro! 🤣 Yes, I nearly called this one Horn Wars! 😂🤣 It was nice cruising with friends again 😃 Thanks matey! xx
Horny boys 😂. Imagine if that had been the title who knows what sort of viewers that would have attracted and then they’d have been very disappointed 😂😂
How’s your foot now?
I really wacked it good and proper, half of my foot turned black, but it’s much better now thank goodness. Thanks Jim! xx
Think that water was from a sewage farm..........
Ewww! Didn’t think of that, you’re probably right! Thanks Ron! xx
Why is it that the men have to do all the hard heavy work of steering the boat whilst the women get away with the easy lock work?
lol haha that made us chuckle 🤭 We just seemed to fall in that routine and it works lol. Thank you so much Sam xx
C’mon, you can’t just ‘cruise with friends’… you gotta make it more dramatic than that. You’ll give the shill channels a good name … seriously, looks amazing … hope all is well…
We’re good thanks matey, hope you are too! Lol, I’m useless at thumbnails, but the water was high in this one, after storm Ciaran, so much water draining into the canal and draining off onto the flood plains! Hope you enjoy it! xx
