Thanks for sharing this it's really helpfull. Just wondering as I can't find the information but does this solution of veeam support Encrypted VM's where an BYOK is used in a KeeVault?
No sure...I can't speak to the official support from VEEAM on that scenario, however I can tell you that Azure Backup does support encrypted VMs with BYOK, so that may be an alternative if you need it. But to be sure I would reach out to VEEAM.
Thanks Dean , another brilliant video. Can you do one for all the logging options available in Azure and its integration with Sentinel, Securitycenter, event hub etc?
Hi Dean, thank you for the video! I do have a question, I saw on the video when you added repository of azure storage on the veeam portal encryption is disabled, so the azure encryption didn't work on veeam? I thought all azure storage is encrypted. and also for accessing the veeam portal, does it required to have a public ip address? or we can change that with a private ip? thanks!
YES all storage in Azure is encrypted at rest...which is why I didn't feel I needed to enable it. The VEEAM encryption would be on top of the Azure storage level encryption. Public IP Question: The VEEAM instance is a linux VM, I assume you can change the bind if you know how to do that...the other thing I suggest is to deploy the VEEAM Backup server without a public IP and see if it works to connect to the private IP. If so...you are done, if not throw it away and re-provision... it is the cloud...that is how we roll
@@AzureAcademy nice! and LOL yeah that is how we roll :D is just sometimes our network team will ask... "hey how did that connects?" thanks again for the answers Dean! thank you for all the educational video! you rock!
Hi Dean, it failed in the create Service Automatically even before asking login or anything with Unexpected error occurred Check the service logs for additional details Trace ID: 930ea866-764a-455f-8339-b5764e6fd0f3 , what do you think it might be?
Looking over whats available again and trying to configure with log analytics still but I did notice this which is not acceptable for reporting. If this is correct and I'm understanding it correctly, then 2 backups (assuming they were after midnight) would have failed before I would see the alert. "Data for the current partial day isn't shown in the reports. So, when the selected value of Time Range is Last 7 days, the report shows records for the last seven completed days. The current day isn't included." docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/backup/configure-reports#conventions-used-in-backup-reports
I'm Little bit confused in schedule option we can't select only backup option when I select backup by default it also joins the snapshot option what is that mean? Secondly, if I want to take only snapshot of vm not backup what features or scenarios I'll loose plz answer.
Not exactly. both work...but they have different purposes Snapshots are a point in time while the VM and the apps and services are running...so they don't respect application state. Backups stop running application services and take stateful backups. So a snapshot is a quick and dirty safety measure but a Backup is the proper way to protect a VM and the files and applications in that VM
Thanks Ven ky! You are looking for a video on how to take a VM and migrate/download it out of the cloud to on prem? Can I ask why you would want to do this or what the workload is?
Absolutely fantastic video as always Dean. Liked. Thank you.
Thanks Peter!
Excellent as always
Thank you! Cheers!
Thanks Dean, again a great how to movie.
Glad you enjoyed it
as usual great stuff.. very informative channel
Much appreciated!
Excellent video, well done!

I would contact Veem for support or deploy
Is it possible to deploy veeam backup without worker vm?
No, the workers are what gather the backup data
Great overview of this. Azure backup is really lacking in the reporting and management of multiple subscriptions and backup vaults
Thanks! The Product teams are always open to hearing your feedback to help make Azure better. Submit some ideas on how you would improve reporting.

You can take snap shots in Azure directly or with Veeam. But they are not the same thing
@@AzureAcademy taking only snapshot is enough to rely on veeam snapshot backup?or should take backup too?

AWESOME!
If we add worker vm in other seperate network do we need to create peering between?
Yes because each network is completely isolated until you peer them together
@@AzureAcademy thanks for quick reply.
Anytime
Thanks for this video, can you please make a video for bring azure workloads to onpremise?

@@AzureAcademy we have only few webservers, just trying reduce the cost. it is cheaper in running on prem.
