Tom of respect for Joel to put himself out there, knowing this would go on the internet, knowing he was going against a much better player, and just having a great attitude while he was doing it.
Aaron Krickstein was down 0-5 in the first set, and ended up beating Brian Dunn 7-5 6-0 at the Lipton open. It was an amazing thing to witness live. Joel you played great and Scott you are an amazing player. Great match
Lot of fun to watch. Match play is so different than hitting with a partner, it's so true. Props to Joel for going out there and playing on camera in front of the internet. Still hoping Ian got into the action during the visit, guess we will see.
Scott playing against Mark, Adam, or one of the other high level Essential Tennis players would make for a more compelling match. There is just too much of a level gap for this to have been a close match though I think Joel could have played better and maybe came away with a 6-2 loss. He hit some good serves and then seemed to be rushing the points that were more neutral like the short backhand he got off a high ball that he went for and netted.
Joel’s most consistent best shot is his serve. Unfortunately his fore is weak and his back is weaker. Its also match composure which Joel lacks , bringing more errors. But again, he will learn a lot and losing is how we learn. This matchup shoulds how important fundamental skills and techniques are the foundation of tennis ahead of other elements. Take this as excellent training Joel and keep at it. All the best
Love the encouraging words for Joel. There's often more that can be learned from a loss than a W. When the emphasis is put on the process and not results, improvement is accelerated. Love the feedback, thanks for watching!
This is not just you guys - but all these "4.5 v 5.0" etc videos - please tell us in the title or description which one is which. To be clear, I did figure it out (Joel is the 4.0), but it would be nice to know right off the bat rather than trying to figure it out.
1.0 ntrp level higher player beats the lower level player with shot tolerance. Same thing would have happened if the 4.0 was paired up against a 3.0 You can't out strategy a 1.0 level difference. Maybe 0.5.
joel seems really tight when playing. NO fluidity in the strokes. just need to relax and as rick macci says, smile when you hit, that's a game changer.
Originally Ian was going to play Scott or myself but due to a last minute injury he was unable to. Thankfully, Joel was kind enough to step up and experminent with the difference in level.

Ton* of respect, not Tom 🤦🏻♂️
So true. totally agreed!
100% 🙌
Lots of players wouldn't handle this gracefully, and Joel certainly did.
It was SO much fun collaborating with you guys. Thank you Scott and Nate, keep up the good work!
Thank ya sir, lets do it again soon! 🍻
Astronomical difference between a 4.0 and a 5.0. Super fun to watch!
Looking forward to part 3!
Cheers and have a great weekend!

Brian Dunn....now that is a name I have not heard in a long time. Played him as a junior...was very one sided. 😂

Props to Joel for sure! Ian was unfortunately injured and unable to play but we plan to get back out there in another collaboration very soon!
Joel’s serve is his best shot. Maybe he should use his best shot go for a bigger first serve to win some easier points. Maybe serve and volley
Scott’s pace was too much for Joel to handle, leaving him without a plan. Different class

We hope do more collaborations with ET very soon and will definitely seek out some new match-ups. Stay Tuned!
Ian vs scott
Scott played within himself. He could have gone for more on his serve, but he didn’t have to.

Kudos to Joel. Given the context, I think he actually did very well.
100%
Scott's tennis is as cool as a deep frozen cucumber. If I could play like that, I might not have aching hips right now!
Scott plays like a younger version of Scott Broady (Essential Tennis). Very convenient they have the same name too 🤔😂
haha...very convenient 🤔. Broady has a great game so Scott will appreciate the compliment!

Entertaining but difficult to follow comfortably with the switching of camera positions mid rally.
"Cat chasing the cheese"
the plan to make Scott run would have worked better against the tennis wall
This guy younger and much bigger so he going to have more power
Is Scott going easy on Joel?
joel seems really tight when playing. NO fluidity in the strokes. just need to relax and as rick macci says, smile when you hit, that's a game changer.
That man is not 5.0... Very unathletic as well but does well with what he has.
Scott, this is abusive. Why don’t you measure up with Mark or Cole who are more at your level?
