- Film pokazuje budowę najtrudniejszych fragmentów „Wielkiego Muiru Japońskiego" (ang. The Great Wall of Japan w skrócie GWJ), Fragmenty te to falochrony o wysokości 22 m chroniące porty stawiane na prefabrykowanych skrzyniach żelbetowych o wysokości 14,5 m. Skrzynie te wykonywane są w suchych dokach i przyholowane oraz zatapiane na miejscu montażu. Pokazano dwa rodzaje bram zamykających akweny portowe w razie alarmu o tsunami. Pierwsza to brama przesuwna o wysokości 36,5 m a druga to brama przesuwno -- podnoszona. Końcowa scena filmu pokazuje koszty budowy muru.

On March 2011 in Omoe the wave reached nearly 40 meters high. That's not enough
The wall should have a drainage system that purposely allows water from tsunami to enter and when the tsunami retracts it can open the drains again to let out the excess water. This way, you don't have to fight the waves, but instead slow it down and let it hit the shores without the heavy momentum.
Guaranteed failure.
1. The wave was 40m
2. They're underestimating the power behind the waves.
Mean while watching,I suddenly pop up in my mind *IS THIS ARPEGGIO OF BLUE STEEL OR ATTACK ON TITAN BASES?*
The water reached as high as 39 meters (128 feet) in the 2011 tsunamis. How will a 22 meter high wall protect against that?
Wow... Good idea but it not big enought , maybe the road on top ..* Great Wall of Japan *. Awesome..!!
First wall maria, second wall rose then wall Sina , this is story' how Japan protect humanity from Titan.

22 meters will help in some places but not all, I've seen videos talking about a tsunami close to 40 meters in northern Japan in 2011 also in 2004 when the Indian Ocean one hit reports there of more than 40 meters in certain locations.
That is true however sea walls will still mitigate and reduce the height of the waves that do affect the coastal areas.
God bless Japan :=).
-Aoki no Hagane Arpeggio Flashbacks-
"That won't hold"
Reminds me of that scene from Arppegio of the blue steel.
Everyone gansta until rod reiss comes and kicks the barrier
Awesome tecnology it will stop floods and less the damage of tsunami
If Tsunami is less than 18 meter. The day it reaches more than that, Japan may land up in a real trouble. Being a human and Indian, I wish nothing as such should happen to Japan and any country.

"Being a Human and an Indian"
haha
Bardzo ambitny projekt.
Why not build reinforced concrete buildings with a minimum of 7 floors, with a public space on the roof, accessible by an elevator and stairs? The side facing the sea should have the form of a semicircle to disperse the impact of the tsunami. Windows on the sea side could be closed from the outside by reinforced steel shutters larger than the window, which would allow the water pressure to be spread over the concrete wall, all around the perimeter of the window. We also have to bury all the pipes and all the electrical and other wires 1m underground. All the goods, cars, and everything else, is replaceable. What matters is saving the lives of the residents.
Wirmish.., I can tell you been watching those tsunami videos a lot.. me too bro
Then do it
Building multiple walls would have been great because just a single line of wall can't stop the shear force of wave and what if a medium sized ship hits the wall.. Can it withstand the pressure? Constructing at least 2 or 3 walls will be helpful to reduce the speed, strength and pressure of the water waves so that in mean time the people of coastal communities will evacuate to higher grounds
Dont forget to plant more mangroves. I would still suggest it to be sure at safety.
they slow the wave
Maybe instead of totally contradicting the flow of the waves travelling in land why not just letting it pass by, by making a way or a passage for the waves to pass without wrecking havoc in Japan. That way it is assured that all the force generated by the waves will not hit totally. Because with this wall there might be a tendency that the wall will collapse if too much force will be applied on it. So that compromises the safety of Japans people and its infrastractures.
But will it stop Godzilla?
no chance
😆😆that may stop kayju, maybe..
Petrus Leonardi But walls already failed against kaiju...
Can't even stop a Cat I Kaiju
Oh god...
I sure hope they know what they're doing if this project comes to fruition.
I still think walls dont work. It will build up. You need a wide ramp along the wall for the water to climb over and into a spillway to divert the water and a secondary wall taller then the ramp behind it along the spillway. Its easier to divert water then block it. That or a arrow head shaped wall into two seperate spillways. Aslong as you have somwhere for the water to go safely and effectively it wont build up
ruclips.net/video/0LLD3Ww4V40/видео.html
@@RWAXDAHL Thank you for this supporting evidence. We need people to understand that walls won't work without a long slope to dissipate their energy.
Or to divert it sideways... which means that the wall should be a pointing arrow towards the areas where most tsunamis come from.
It can't stop the tsunami from going inland but it can help the coastal communities to evacuate to higher grounds... All in all it can stop the tsunami from reaching the coastal communities upto a while
There has been a japanese people who disliked the wall idea thingy.
Its main reason is that the place will lose its Tourist attraction.
the ideology is also that its better to see the tsunami coming from afar and have more time to escape than to be confident that the tsunami will not go through... why? Because you cant see the tsunami from afar due to the wall blocking your view and ypu have less time to panic. Plus living in a sea-walled village makes you feel like you're in a jail.
Odds of tsunami being higher above the wall's limit is extremely likely, japan is in the pacific's Ring of fire.
Its best to keep the wall low and have lower damage than to have higher wall maintainance, so that it keeps the attractiveness that the tourist likes and lessen the damage.
If you want another solution, do the opposite of walls, build a tsunami trenches instead! It will redirect the tsunami somewhere else.
Chaos Craft999
You could at least try to get a life.
I mean jeff bezos cant buy this wall its so expensive $132 billion.
Japan is rich country and they can afford it. Hardworking nation ahead of time
The Mother Nature is so powerful.it cannot be restrained
You're right so everything being done for climate change is a complete farce and waste of money... And it's only being done to destroy us so the few can have power
very beautiful presentation
2:57 so it gives the water a new permanent shape? I guess thats cool
Once the wall is finished, then fill in the land behind it to the same height. Problem solved.
will not stop the big waves
What will the wall do if a ship is on a head on collision? What if the wave level rises above 20m? What if the force of the tsunami comes over head and still floods the city? The wall is a good idea but it has many flaws. And only in the perfect situation will it work, but as we know, nature is unpredictable.
Thank you for your comment and interest. It's my professors thesis project which I believe is more of a thought provoking project than a real feasible solution. But besides the obvious flaws, I found the economical side of it interesting.
if level above 22 meter it will decreased after hit the wall. thats why they make far distance between beach and wall. the question is how strong this wall if get hit continously by tsunami in more than 30 minute.
> "What will the wall do if a ship is on a head on collision?"
Not much unless its cargo is TNT or something.
> "What if the wave level rises above 20m?"
It'll spill over, obviously. But still considerably lessen the force of the initial impact.
> "What if the force of the tsunami comes over head and still floods the city?"
If it floods the city, the city will be flooded.
> "And only in the perfect situation will it work"
I wouldn't call a 10m tsunami a perfect situation...
Your flaws are basically "well in Scenario X we are fucked". Guess what, in those scenarios we're even more fucked WITHOUT the wall.
Adam Kajganic MAKE IT TALLER THEN
Well, considering the cost to japan for the 2011 tsunami alone will top $300 billion, and the projected cost here is 132 billion, its not a bad idea. Its not like tsunamis aren't a common historical occurrence.
Nobody can stop nature.. I guess? 😮
@@user-sn2ly9zu7v oh, really?!👾
ja can
I am Nobody.
But atleast we can prepare for it to minimize the damage.
It is true. Nobody and no one can stop the deadliest natural disasters ever experienced; unless, you properly prepare and thoroughly educate the nation for the ultimate and unimaginable disasters that we've might encounter in the upcoming millennia. Your only savior is God.
Looks really cool! Kudos. Some points: In some areas the 2011 wave reached 20m. Also chances are a ship could hit the wall directly. I don't think it could withstand a head on collision from a medium sized ship. Solution would be to connect the extended "staircase" towers and have a continuous steal beam mesh though that would affect the cost (probably a 10-20% rise of what I believe is already rather optimistic estimate for the price) For example the total length of the sea facing concrete dams in the Netherlands Delta-Project is around 30km completed at a cost of 7 billion. Thats more like 230 million / km So I think the 250 billion range would be more accurate. Finally, there is a emerging trend of finding ways to work with nature (rather then against it) such as creating natural coastal areas which are intentionally designed to flood, thereby more gradually dissipating the energy. So in conclusion I think it makes sense around economically high value areas like ports, dense cities and creating other "counter areas" which are designed to flood.
trump hires those japanese wall building experts to build HIS own WALL
Good idea if its tall and strong enough. This would never work in the USA, people would complain that its blocking the beautiful ocean view.
Cause we haven't had a multitude of tsunamis in the USA as Japan has.
Japanese are very creative🙌
It looks perfect... on project
With this wall they can stop refugees, especially in europe we absolutely need this wall!
@@lightningblade9347 When the dirty fighter planes fly over the wall. would be best to use an anti-aircraft missile on the wall and use quite a lot of anti-aircraft missiles on the wall. best with high technology anti-aircraft missiles and not with the old scrap insert.
Planes exist
Whether or not the wall is breached by the tsunami it will give people extra time to get to safety. I think that alone is worth it.
they worried tsunamis rather than invaders.
Joan Jamito you mean USA?😂
Powerfull job 👍👍👍💕
What happens if it doesn't work are you planning to built it even more higher?
It will work !!!!@
if the wave is so big and so tall, the wall, at least delay the attack of tsunami and ppl can have more time to run.............compared with nature, human infrastructures are nothing
This idea is verry safe and good for japan after this Tsunami.....japan needs this.....safety first.....
Henk Zaanstad
No it's not safe by any standard but the Japanese will be very happy to hear from an expert like you.
Great job

yep tsunamis walls are good to protect us

Jestem w stanie wymienić kilka wad tej konstrukcji. 2:08 Napierająca woda natrafia na mur, który jest swoją konstrukcją ukierunkowany zgodnie z naporem wody. To raz. Jest jeszcze kilka spraw konstrukcyjnych, ale...nie powiem.
Great wall of japan must zigsag not straighten coz its easier to destruct big wave, zigsag wall are stronger can nutralize big wave.! From Philippines alie, sorry if i'm wrong thank you.
Should be slide inside and out, so the water slip away back.
Like how stairs act as crumple zones so ships don't damage the wall it's self
sorry i haven't do any research about this yet but
1st: There no way this wall is 132 billion is had to be more than that.
2nd: The amount of money required to build this and the amount to maintained it
like i say/type i HAVEN'T DO RESEARCH ABOUT THIS YET so correct me if i'm wrong please
Co jak co ale jak przyjdzie tsunami to się ten mur na nic zda.
Excellent graphics. I don't mean to be unkind. I just simply do not understand why you lovely people insist on building your cities on the water. You guys are ravaged by tsunamis time and time again. With horrific, catastrophic loss of life. Why not build higher up? The wall is fantastic. But. A higher tsunami wave will shatter the wall. I'm wondering this about people here in America, as well. New Orleans, New York, Savanna, Georgia. Galveston Island, Texas. The list goes on and on. Nothing could induce me to live on the Waterfront.
.....and what happens if there is a tsunami halfway through construction?
But its a nice idea to build in the waterfront real estate - you might be able to get Prez Chump to invest; he like waterfronts, real estate and walls. I assume also that the residences are hightailing it out of the apartments/break water as the flood gates close.
why would you build a wall with the "pointed corner"...have they/you not seen the footage of the wave going over those such corners ...here on the webb ...all of the waves build up even more in such corners ie: an 18 mt wave is compressed into a 30 mt wave ( roughly speaking)
1st shake of earthquake great wall will fall down 3m , 2nd shake.. More 3m down after that tsunami wave is coming 14m height at that time what they will do ?
Is it possible... If yes then it will be a great achievement...
The wall would only be effective against tsunamis, but if something like Godzilla ever came against Japan they'd be toast.
More effective against a cyclone or typhoon system than a tsunami like they had in 2011, but still effective against even smaller tsunamis than that one.
It is too deep there. There was actually a wall constructed in front of Kamaishi, 2km of that cost $1.5 billions. I also doubt whether the hollow wall constructed as a house will hold the pressure of 20 m of water. Have you made any calculations?
It is the best example of Morden technology of japan
Japanese are very creative people, they don't stop creating things until they will perfect 👌, but they always shares their creations to the world. Quality high and quantity high /pricey, but never regret!

I believe the only way you can slow down tsunamis is by making a counter tsunami to head to an incoming tsunami once it's detected.
or call goku
And then the 80 meter wave will hit. Can’t stop Mother Nature.
if you incorporate living apartments in the wall ,know is very cost effective and a lat of people will have ocean view so now is very chip wall and on the end everybody is happy
Very nice videos
Great
Tsunami walls should have several layers to dissipate the kinetic energy of the waves. The shear amount of mass and energy carried in a wave is too much for a single barrier to dissipate. There should be at least three separate walls with wash ramps to direct the waves upwards.
terenfro1975
Yes no one can build a wall against tsunamies, because you did some thorough studies on the subject. I'm sure the retarded Japanese engineers will be very happy to hear more wisdom from you.
anyone here after armin becomes colossal titan ?
Well Done Japan, Love for you from India.
The hardest part was making stairwells out of Play-doh
If the wall is hollow inside, why not have housing and shops with solar and wind power ?
Great work
Pretty great that wall m8
the idea is great. i was thinking the water inside the parameter, will it not smells bad after many years without flowing water? and the gate for the ships is only one and narrow...
I suggest, it would be better to build concret houses, which won`t collapse being inundated. Anyway, some furniture must be renewed once in 37 years. Not a big deal.
when will they start the project?
Great work - Japan is a top country on the planet - 👍🤙👍🤙👍🤙
Everything behind the wall towards the land should be filled with water up to the height of wall ...the mass of water will counter the force of oncoming water.
Wow impressive. Even tsunami happen higher than wall, I think by that time tsunami over the wall and start to overflow, most of people already in the higher ground. It not just wall but they redesign the new town make his own people easier to evaluate when tsunami happen like school buildings on top of the hill. While they parent busy working, they don’t have to worry about they children safety if tsunami happen again for 30 years to come. The Japanese rebuild they own smart town if I can say that.

So you think they will just let their citizen die?
@ ストライクフリー永遠の Of course not! They have sea walls already on many parts of the japanese coastline but these walls didn´t help in 2011 as we well know from hundreds if not thousands of videos. Some of these walls were 20 meters high and couldn´t prevent the incoming water from doing his total destruction. When the ocean comes for a visit you´ll have to move.
