Thank you so much for such a helpful video! When you sew the sleeve into the bodice armhole, do you find that there are more gathers towards the front of the shoulder than the back? That is what I'm getting after I align the notches and marks and feel like maybe I'm doing something wrong....
I know this is a late response, but I have been searching forever to get this answer. I’ve just decided to make them even and hopefully not have any gathers!
Hello! Very informative video! It's very sweet and kind of you to give all these details to us! I have a little question, as I am a novice: What are the benefits of lining this particular dress? I bought a silky polyester fabric and I am hopefully going to wear the dress in August (very hot in the American South), so I was wondering if I should line it or not? I would love to hear your opinion. Thank you very much! ❤️
Hi 😊, I prefer the finish I get when I fully line the bodice. Personally I wouldn't make this dress in a polyester fabric as they don't breathe and it will get hot. If you're planning on making the sleeveless version you might get away with it, I'd think about lining it in a natural fibre if you can. The pattern does come with facings so if you don't want to line it all then just follow the original pattern 😊 I hope that helps
Hi Sian! Another amazing sew-along!! I was wondering if you could go a bit more in detail about connecting the sleeve band? I can’t figure out for the life of me why the instructions say to only press the unnotched side of the band! I cant figure out how the unpressed side will hide the unfinished edge. Any tips would be great, if you have the time! Thanks 😊
Hi Nicole, the unpressed side is the side you sew to the sleeve by machine then the pressed side will be on the interior and you'll slip stitch it in to place. They want you to leave it unpressed to making sewing it in by machine easier, you'll have the right side (outside) of the band to the right side of the sleeve 😊 Let me know if that makes sense x
Kittenish Behaviour Thank you, Sian, you’re a life saver! I’m a new sewist and have been staring at this sleeve (and consequently ripping out my hair) for days now. Thanks for taking the time to help me! 😊
You create the Most loveliest clothing I am always so deeply impressed....have a wonderful day!
Love this dress fabric is beautiful
