By far the best tutorial for this pattern, I love the finish and tailoring of your dress you are so attended to little details giving such a clean finish . Thank you :)
This is the best tutorial I've found for this pattern. I'm a beginner and I've been dreaming about sewing my own version of this dress for a while, but I was afraid to even start ... Now, with all your tips, I will definitely try. Thank you!!!
I agree with the other comments here, this video is excellent, one of the best tutorials out there for this dress, which come with some unnecessarily complicated instructions. Thanks again, and looking forward to more! 👍
These step by step tutorials are excellent Paige. Gives us confidence to go ahead . Many thanks.. very clear . I will pause and listen again to the “ burrito” method for finishing the yoke. Many thanks
Just got this pattern yesterday. I wanna do it in a yellow print. But I have a dark green floral print I'm considering either in this pattern dress or as a shirt and shorts set.
Thx for price breakdown too. I bought fabric yesterday to make my daughter's and I 3 nightgown and it felt like a lot at first but once i divide the cost per nightgown it's very affordable
Beautiful , ,! I just finished the dress for my granddaughter, and had a lot of difficulty with the sizing , she wants another one , and I was reluctant until I saw your video. I have questions I hop e you can answer, 1, I see you added 2 buttons making the bust less plunging , yet your bask still comes to a perfect point on both sides . Ie the overlap . Other videos have quite complicated adjustments using drench curve ,and changing facings, which I'm not confident doing . I'm going to make it a size smaller and hopes this helps as well , thank you for such a great video , Jacqueline
Great tutorial. I was confused with the instructions which are too light for the beginner I am. Thanks to you, I'm going to br able to sew that dress with stunning finitions. Thanks, Thanks, Thanks !
I loved your steps by steps and your he final results but my pattern piece #1 is narrow than the yoke back no space for ruffles, any idea how can I adjust it?
Beautiful dress, and this is by far the best sew along video I found for this pattern. May I ask if you made any alterations to the pattern, as the neckline seems perfect, I would like mine exactly like that. Thanks
I raised the neckline just enough to add one more button. The green version has zero changes and it is great too. I just wanted one extra bit of modesty.
@@PaigeHandmade I'm a novice, so, could you please explain me a little how to raise the neck line? Thank you! Excellent presentation and you are very sweet! ❤️
That would be too complicated to write out here. Find a book or posts online about pattern adjustments. There are principles that will help you learn how to adapt any pattern to your liking.
@@marialively9673 In this youtube video ruclips.net/video/s1tEOoiXHnk/видео.html the lady explains how to raise the neck line on this exact dress! I can recommend all of her videos regarding this pattern (and her videos in general) Hope this helps! :)
No pockets though??? This is a beautiful tutorial with some fantastic tips. I've made the dress once as a toile in lining fabric and can now go ahead with more confidence, thank you
I don't feel super passionate about putting pockets in everything. Some of my dresses have pockets and others don't. I'm glad this tutorial was helpful to you.
I linked the fabric in my blog post. The link is in the description below the video. The fabric is rayon challis. It is not see through but very light so I wore a little slip.
That was really cute! I developed tennis elbow in both my elbows last year from sewing 5-8hours per day cause of that first lockdown 😅 so I don't sew that much anymore cause it still hurts a bit, but I have a couple of plans for the summer 🤩 you're definitely an inspiration for me. I might try something similar 😉
The pattern pieces have the buttonhole mark and an 'x' where the button should go. I always sew the buttonholes first, cut them open, pin the front together and mark the button placement according to the real buttonholes. I hope that helps.
Hi Paige! Thank you for the wonderful tutorial. I recently got this pattern and want to give this dress a go! What do you recommend for picking the right size? I am in between sizes and don’t know if I should size down or not. Would you share what size you used for reference please? Thank you for the helpful video 😊
With every McCall pattern I go down a size from my measurements. This is very common with a lot of sewers because of the amount of ease in their designs. Look at the garments finished measurements and use a measuring tape around your body to feel the amount of ease that the garment will have. Notice where the most fitted part of the garment is (bust, waist, hips) and think about how your favorite garments fit. I do recommend making a muslin to test very fitted items. Hope this helps!
Thanks for this video, i'm about to make this dress so your video has been really helpfull (especially for the burrito technique for the back yoke) Do you think it's possible to fully line the dress instead of using the facing pieces ? Cheers !
You're welcome! You can cut out full bodice pieces to line it and just use interfacing in the shape of the facings on the lining. Does that make sense?
I appreciate the focus on thrift but I couldn't help but think that coordinating ribbon instead of binding tape would have added a posh touch that a dress of such high quality merits. 😍
I didn't have enough of this fabric to make my own coordinating bias. I would have made it if I had extra. This is an everyday type of dress for me, so I am not disappointed. I do agree with your idea though.
Thank you for the video!!! That dress is gorgeous... How would you recommend finishing the raw edge between the bodice and the skirt if one doesn't have a serger? I've encountered this problem before, I'm hesitant to leave the edge raw but can't come up with a good finishing especially when the skirt is gathered like this one and there is some bulk... any advice is welcome! :D
A wide zigzag stitch or bias binding. My green dress has bias binding. It's worth the effort, but I didn't have that much extra fabric for the pink dress.
Beautiful! So floaty and feminine! Can I ask if you raised the neckline a bit as it doesn't look as low as the pattern or other versions Ive seen on IG. I stayed away from this pattern due to the low neckline but seeing your version has made me want to try this out now X
Thank you! Yes, I raised it enough to add one more button. I reshaped the front of the bodice piece by adding a little wedge to the center front to accommodate a button. It made it just right.
@@PaigeHandmade excellent video! the only reason I have not purchased this is because the neckline is so low. Can you elaborate on how you raised the neck?
Hi Paige, I am a petite girl and if I want to raise the neck line about 2 inches, do you think it will still look good? Very lovely dress you have made.
One size down from what I measure for according to the envelope. This is what I usually do for "the big 4" patterns. Check the finished measurements for the amount of ease in the garment and suit it to your preference.
Did you raise the neckline? I have this pattern but never made it because it looks dangerously low from the photos and I'm terrible at altering patterns 😅
wow, beautiful dress 👗 design but you didn't share frock back part and front part cutting ✂️ vedio , please share properly cutting and stitching vedo, and share fron.overlap cutting and measurement vedio.
I just stumbled upon your channel and content while searching for wrap dress. I recently got into sewing! Almost cried at the end of the video 🤣 That was so nice! Love everything about your contents and your voice definately adds to it ❤️❤️❤️ Can you make a video on sleeves? for the love of god, i cannot get the sleeves properly attached to bodice 🤣🤣🤣 theres always excess sleeve fabric and they never match up!
I would like to make a video with an in depth overview of setting in a sleeve. You must use basting lines and a lot of pins to ease it in. I use a lot of pins when there seems to be a lot of sleeve fabric.

I did a Hong Kong seam finish with the cream bias strips. I have a seam finishing playlist with several different methods, including Hong Kong seams.

I did. Enough to add one more button. I'll have to take pictures of my changes to the pattern and add them to my blog post. It's fairly simple.
